12/5/09 -- DUMMY -- The Cruise Your Heart Desires Most ; )

Thanks for the prayers & hugs!
This morning he is doing much better - he actually ate a piece of toast and a little scrambled egg! I just hope it lasts. I don'thow many days it had been since he could eat more then a cracker or two. He is finally rehydrated. I've kept him stocked with juice & Gatorade. ;)

He still can't be up for longer then a few minutes without laying down. I know it is much easier for him, to get the rest he needs, here at my house.
I am just glad this is a weekend when there is nothing going on for us! If this had happened next weekend I wouldn't have been able to help much -- the kids are in a community theater play that opens on Friday.

By the end of the weekend I will be better at givng injections, also. ;) This was the first time I've ever had to give someone else a shot -- I've given myself many (insulin) but, never someone else. Claire (7dd) thought she was going to want to watch but, she changed her mind pretty quick! LOL!

DH's biggest fear is that one of us may have germs that we will pass on to DB. Which is why for the most part I am the only one doing things for him.

On a happy note....The kids put up their Christmas tree yesterday. :goodvibes It looks good -- it's in our *Juliet balconey*. It is definitly a tree decorated by kids! My MIL had quite a few old Disney ornaments that they used on the tree. When we get our decorations out today I'll let them use our ornaments, also. Since our main tree is probably going to have to be *themed*.

DH isn't happy with the tree I picked out -- it is *only* 9ft tall (he wanted a 12 -15' tree) BUT, the bottom is 6' across that shoud be big enough for him! LOL! 17dd & I are the ones that decorate the tree and we didn't want to decorate a tree larger then 9'!

You're a good sister. We are saying lots of prayers for your whole family.

I gotta say Steph, I agree with your DH. Christmas trees should touch the ceiling! Even when it is a 15' cathedral ceiling. I'm bummed - this house is our first house in about 10 years that doesn't have cathedral ceiling in the living room. In one house I had to rearrange the living room for the holidays just so the tree could be in the "high part". :)

If you're the praying kind we could use lots of prayers here...My brother isn't doing too well yesterday or today. He had to go in this morning for several different types of IV's. And he still may need to be hospitalized.
I brought him to my house after his treatment this morning -- his s/o had clients all day. And to be honest even if he had been home he is not a *caregiver* type, he can't think outside himself. :sad1: We know he isn't trying to be uncaring but, he is. kwim?

Thank you very much!

Our thoughts and prayers are with your DB and your family. I also saw your update that he was feeling a little better today. I hope he continues to improve.

Stephanie:hug: glad DB is doing a little better today.:yay:

We just bought a 9 foot tree(pre-lit)and that is tall enough. This is the first time we are not using my Disney ornaments. I did mine in all blues this year. My tree has been nothing but Disney for 39 years. It was time for a change!!!:woohoo:

I have 12 foot catheredral and we have two feet to spare. :thumbsup2 It is a lot more work decorating this 9 foot tree than are small 7 foot tree.:sad2: I just arranged my furniture so we could hit the high part of the living room ceiling.:sad2: Grab a ladder and come over!!:rolleyes1

Hi everyone!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

We are having a nice visit..only bummer is that although I have internet..my email isnt working so I can't reply to any PM's or email..my system won't let me..I will have to respond to everyone on monday night when I get home!

Steph, just got back from spending a few nights in NH, but just wanted to send good thoughts for DB & I'm glad to see he is doing a little better. I hope he continues to improve!

Much love and support being sent your way Steph!

Thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts! I took him home today but, I'll check onhim in the morning. I know he really wanted to be at home BUT, it would have made us feel better if he had stayed another day or two..... He lives about 40 mins away.

M, the tree would of had to have been at least 20 ft tall to get near the ceiling! LOL! The family room is a 2 story room (and each floor has 10ft ceilings) -- it has two balconys that overlook it. And since Jon has NEVER helped decorate for Christmas Samantha (17dd) & I decided he didn't get to decide how tall the tree was going to be! LOL! As it is she and I will need a ladder to decorate the top third!
It's bad enough that he wants me to have a *theme* for the tree this year!!!
I'll be making giant bows for the next week! LOL!
The tree is 9ft tall and the base has a 6ft span. It is huge! LOL!

Jon is supposed to call someone about putting lights up on the outside of the house. One of the cool things about this house is that it is wired for Christmas lights -- there are plugs along the edeges for the lights!
I hung a great big wreath (the large one from Costco) on the front door. It looks great!
This is the earliest we have ever put up any Christmas things.
Since we do Advent we usually wait until the weekend before Christmas to put up the tree & decorations. And then everything is left up until after Epiphany.

I wanted to let everyone know that my brother's white blood count is up. :goodvibes

That's sooo cool about the plug outlets on the house for lights!!! I'm imagining them up under the roof overhang! If so... THEN that would be soooo nice.... not only does this help with Christmas lights but... I want to setup/run an outdoor security camera system with DVR recorder TOO. If we had power supply outlets uner the roof like I believe you have - that would help in installing a clean looking system of digital cameras outside of the house! Of course, it would be so simple for a thief to just bring a little step ladder and unplug my cameras tooo.... gee, I'd have to figure out a way to make the system tamper resistant. Sigh.... anyways I'm in the middle of putting up lights now - hope to finish this weekend!

Steph...

... I'm sorry I missed being here to offer supportive thoughts (and images... <wink>)... however, I'm glad your brother is gaining strength in his fight/recovery. As some may recall, we have friends and loved ones who are in battles for your lives as well. Some doing OK, others not faring nearly as well. Sigh... such is the nature of our fragile existances here, eh?

So, on another note, we just signed up our daughter for a winter soccer and gymnastics, and I vaguely recall posting (maybe?) that we hosted a nice birthday party for our youger one a few days ago.

Black friday was nice... Alicia did her to try and revive the flagging economy by power shopping with a couple girlfriends that morning from 4:30AM until 11:30AM... (whew.... good thing it wasn't 11:30PM!). All in all... I count myself lucky as I think I spent more then she did... I bought a Black Friday computer monitor deal from Newegg.... a Sceptre 24" that's only $199 after $40 rebate.... no tax and FREE shipping. Plus I picked up a new computer power supply and a couple computer games at "unbelievable bargin prices". These games demand so much computer power it's forcing me into a severe computer upgrade (of video card, memory and power supply) to properly RUN them! So all told.. I think some folks would consider my general expenditures to be modest - and in turn Alicias' to be modest.

At any rate.... wooo hoo.... my monitor and power supply came in yesterday... and this afternoon I'll be installing the PS while trasferring my exxternal hard drive into the desktop... one of my kids stepped on the external hard drive - using it as a ???? step or ???? and cracked/damaged it. Most likely the drive itself is OK.. but the enclosure and it's circuits are kaput. With any luck the decktop will be running with a new LED lit 600w power supply and new terabyte of HD capacity this afternoon... abd a new 24" monitor! Hopefully I'll have NO dead or stuck pixels (or other issues) with the thing!

Cheers forlks for a happy weekend!

Hilton Set For Tinkerbell Role?

(AP Photo/Chris Weeks)

Paris Hilton is reportedly lined up to appear in a live version of "Peter Pan."

Hilton has impressed bosses at Disney with her movie roles and her online comedy sketches, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

And now they are said to be keen for Hilton to bring the fairy Tinkerbell to life in a live-action version of the story.

A source tells the Web site, "Paris has worked on her acting chops lately and showed some comedy prowess in her YouTube spoof of running for president. Disney suits saw it and think she may be developing some comedic-actress potential."
