Um, I'll be there (DL) on Thanksgiving but this post was about my new job I'll be starting Dec 8. I won't have any extra time on my trip though. We'll only be at DL on the 27th, then heading on down to Solana Beach for the rest of the weekend.

I haven't shared much about this job because I didn't want to jinx anything. A staffing recruiter found my resume on Monster because of my telecom experience. I had a phone interview a few weeks ago and was supposed to have an onsite interview last week but it got postponed. I interviewed on Tuesday and felt that it went well. Got a call from the recruiter today with the offer. It will be a 3 month contract to hire. I plan on making myself so valuable that they will hire me on permanent.

It's a catch all administrative assistant type job in the telecom department of an HMO. I'll be assisting with ordering, contract maintenance, and procedure documentation. Initially a 20% paycut, but once I'm permanent it will only be about a 5% paycut. Full benefits after 30 days, even on contract. Don't know about vacation time yet, probably won't know until the perm. position is negotiated.

Today is 7 months to the day that I was notified about my lay off, 5 months since I've been off payroll.

ooops! Sorry..I have been a little of the loop..Congrats on the job. I just knew somewhere you had posted you were going to be at DL for the Holidays.

Great, M. Did you put in for tickets from the Olympic lottery? We decided not to in the end. Too much dollars when we times things by 4. DH said we have better seats in our living room. Dithered about opening ceremonies for a bit but the second choice seats are in the gods, so decided against it. We can go on a cruise for what we are saving. Hoping for some satellite gatherings for the big events in town on a big screen.

I'm booking a cruise to Alaska tomorrow with RCL. Where abouts in Alaska did you live? We're going to Icy Strait Point, Sawyer Glacier, Skagway and Juneau. It's celebrating my inlaw's 50th - or we'd be waiting for DCL to go - in all likelihood we'll go then as well. Not cancelling Tortola just yet in case we'd opt out of Alaska for some reason.


Monica - new position sounds great. Knock them dead. Enjoy DL - 4 weeks tomorrow we'll be there.

Now to get K a permanent position. Anyone heard if Kim got one yet?

Wow! Your right, they are usually closed on Thanksgiving. That stinks, but if you get over time that's good. My friend called my last year at 5:30 AM and got me up. They were selling the Cricut bundle for $129. There were about 10 people in line when I got there. If it wasn't for Kaitlin neither I or my friend would of gotten on! I was thinking of maybe hitting Kmart and Meijers on T day.

Really with all the craft stuff I have, I should be shot if I go to Mike's or Joann's!

Just stopping in to say hi!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a busy one..camping yesterday/last night with the Girl Scout Troop. We had a great time.

Finished my Christmas shopping today(Absolutely hate the malls after Thanksgiving - even bought my Christmas present - thought I would help Richard out ) I did promise my Sister that I would go with her on Black Friday but am staying out of the way.

We leave on Wednesday for Arizona thru the 1st. Going to spend the Holiday with my Sis.
