Day 4, Sea Day
My memory is sort of fuzzy of this day, plus I didn't take many pictures so it's hard to jog it to figure out what we did.
We did wake up to 2 surprises. The first surprise was cool, the second surprise not so much.
DH & I awoke around 7:20 or so. We flipped on the switch to the porthole to see what it looked like outside and then we laid there talking for a little bit. Suddenly there was a flash of light across the porthole and we were like "huh?" So I sat up and looked at it and Winnie the Pooh showed up! I excitedly told DH to sit up and look and we were just giddy with glee LOL! He happened to look at the clock and it was 7:30 on the nose, so we deduced that the animations came probably every 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Later in the day when we were back in the room packing, we confirmed that every half hour on the dot the animations would come across the screen.
Anyway, in our excitement, we'd awakened DD. We heard her rustling around on the other side of the curtain. We chatted a little longer and then maybe 5 minutes later, I decided I wanted to bring DD in bed with us for a family snuggle so I went to get her.
I never got that far because it turned out that the corn dog she'd eaten for dinner the night before quite agree with her and there was evidence on the bed to prove it. So we scooped her up, bathed her and gathered up the sheets for the steward to take. We asked him for a bag to put them in so he didn't have to handle them and then he switched the sheets out.
Just to be clear, she wasn't sick like contagious sick, but sometimes foods will upset her tummy and I am guessing there may have been a considerable amount of something dairy in the corn dog batter?
Not sure, but other than the upset tummy, she was good to go for the rest of the day.
We headed up to get breakfast and I got my awesome cereal again and they had their usual eggs, bacon, sausage, mickey waffles, etc.
After breakfast we went to see the princess gathering in the atrium.
The line was already too long when we got there so we just waited in the lobby for them to come out so DD could see them. After that, we headed to the D Lounge to Wake Up With Disney Junior.
I didn't really know what to expect for this, but it was so cute! They played a lot of the theme songs from Disney Jr shows and the kids danced with Pluto.
DD wasn't sure what to think of Pluto dancing with her. She's used to meeting him through a meet & greet line and it was throwing her off that she could interact with him at her own free will.
The dance party was totally cute, but before long it was over. I have absolutely no idea what we did at this point, but we did something for a half an hour or so before DH went to sports trivia in the 687 lounge at 10:45 while DD & I returned to the room and she watched Jake & the Neverland Pirates on demand. After he got back from there, we headed up for lunch at Cabanas. Again - fuzzy memory and no idea what I ate. Man, this part of the trip report kind of sucks!
After lunch, we had planned to go to the splash park, but DD's tummy was still upset and there was no way I would risk an accident in the water, so we found something else to do - naptime! DH stayed with DD this time. I took the opportunity to go around the ship and take more pictures of things I hadn't gotten pictures of yet.
My favorite part about sea days. Nothing but blue sky and blue water clear to the horizon.
Golf on the sports deck. We never did play, but it's hard to do with a 3yo who couldn't care less!
Elevator outside of Cabanas. I loved the themed elevator areas like there and on deck 4.
The Quiet Cove pool area. Didn't look so quiet on this day, it was pretty packed!
At this point I sat down and enjoyed a mixed vanilla and strawberry soft serve cup from the self serve station. I'd been doing well with avoiding most sugary crap, but I splurged on a small cup. It was so good I went back for a 2nd cup!
By this point in time DH & DD had gone to Believe in the main lounge. I had noticed that the ship was barely going at all in the water and it was getting warm up on the outer decks really fast without the air flowing, so I headed inside. At some point earlier in the trip, I had started playing one of the mysteries of the Midship Detective Agency so I finished the bulk of it at this point in time.
I met DH & DD in the atrium lobby after Believe to wait for the See Ya Real Soon gathering of characters. The characters came out just as the princesses had earlier in the day except it was pure chaos in the lobby. The princess gathering was very organized with 1 solid line, but there were people just standing all over the atrium. A CM came by right before the characters came out and told everyone in our immediate area to form a line. We had no idea what we were forming a line for, but we were maybe 10 people back from the front.
It turned out, we were the line for Mickey! He was the only one DD hadn't yet met because his line is always too long to wait in. I waited in the line while DH took her over to the line for Santa Goofy which only had 3-4 people in it. Right as she finished with Santa Goofy it was her turn with Mickey and she ran right into his arms, she was so excited. She did eskimo kisses with him and then sang him a song. I have no idea what she sang, but it was adorable.
The lines for the other characters were out of control long so we headed back to our room to start packing. We made sure to pay attention to our porthole every 30 minutes. We were there for a full hour and saw Captain Hook, Jiminy Cricket and Tinkerbell. Here's a video of Jiminy Cricket...I set my alarm so I'd be prepared at exactly 5 on the dot LOL!

We had a little more time to get ready for dinner tonight since we didn't have to be to Palo until 6:30 so we took our time packing and DH went to iron his clothes.
After dropping DD off in the nursery, we headed up for our anniversary dinner at Palo. We were 4 days late celebrating, but better late than never, right?
Our server was Kristian. He was wonderful, though he didn't seem to appreciate our sense of humor LOL. DH jokes around with everyone and Kristian wasn't having it.
Still, he was amazing and knowledgeable about his job and I told DH to tone it down anyway because we're at a nice place...wouldn't kill him to be serious for a couple of hours, ya know?
Here he is being very serious.
Kristian started us with our bread & antipasto, all of which was great. I went on to have the mozzarella & plum tomatoes, which was also good. For my main dish, I had the beef filet....or tenderloin? I can't remember what it was and for some reason I can't find it on the current Dream menu. Maybe I'm missing it. Anyway, it was FABULOUS! I even ate the potatoes that came with it because the potatoes tasted like it and I generally avoid white potatoes.
Kristian had brought us out a plate with Happy Anniversary written on it in chocolate.
For dessert I couldn't resist the souffle.
It was everything I thought it would be and more.
Kristian took a photo of us, but for some reason you can't see the plate. Oh well!
After dinner, which lasted a full 2 hours, so they aren't kidding to allow at least 2 hours for it, we picked DD up from the nursery and headed back to our room to shower and finish packing up the last of what we could.
In the hallway near the nursery, they have this piece of art which is my favorite on the whole ship.
It's my favorite because I can relate. My town is a beach town and whenever I go, if I take food, the seagulls just flock to me. I have a weird paranoia about birds, so they freak me out when they swarm me. So, lesson learned: no more food on the beach. I always laugh looking at this picture.
We said goodbye to Ida, our steward and got a picture of DD with him.
Pretty soon, we were all in bed for the last night on the ship.
The next morning, we woke up, finished the last teeny bit of packing pajamas & toiletries that we had to do, then gathered all of our stuff and headed up to Cabanas. I had one last bowl of amazing cereal, but I had it with regular milk because trying to get soy on this day was like asking someone to go to the moon and back for me. So I just gave up and got regular milk. DD couldn't have milk, but a morning without milk wouldn't kill her. Anyway, my cereal wasn't quite as amazing without the soy, but it was good. I loved my cereal so much I needed to get a picture with it. For you know, memories and all
We never heard an announcement about getting off of the ship but people were starting to head down to the atrium lobby, so we did too. We headed fore from Cabanas and as soon as we got outside, WOW! That wind was COLD!
Come to find out, it was only 45 degrees with an icy wind that morning. Sooooo not fun
None of us had sweatshirts with us, they were in the car parked at the hotel.
Luck was on our side because the second we got off of the elevator in the atrium lobby, they called for debarkation. We zipped right off of the ship, had a minor problem locating one piece of our luggage, but found it quickly, zipped through customs and were outside in less than 10 minutes.
We found a representative for our shuttle and he called for them to bring it, but we still had to wait out in the cold for about 20 minutes before it got there. We were sooo frozen, but we made sure that DD was kept as warm as she could be. And the cold didn't phase her a bit.
Finally our shuttle came, another family came to fill it up and we were on our way back to our hotel.
This is something I was in a panic about. OK I fully admit I am a crazy car seat safety mom. I'll probably have my kid in a 5 point harness when she's 30 still.
No really, I do take it very seriously. We were shuttled to the ship on a bus which you can't use a car seat in. But the shuttle back was just a regular van - I was not happy to have my 3yo buckled into the seat with just a seat belt. She's way too small to be safe like that, not to mention the seat belt doesn't even fit her properly. The van driver's driving habits kept me in a full on panic until we pulled up to the hotel, but thankfully it was without incident. Next time, we will just park at the port to avoid this problem.
We grabbed our jeans & sweatshirts out of the car and hightailed it inside to the warmth of the hotel to change. We then made our way down Rt 528 toward Orlando and Downtown Disney. I was sad to be leaving the ship behind but we still had 5 full days of vacation ahead of us so I couldn't be TOO sad.
I will be back one more time with an update of our highlights from our WDW portion of the trip, so hang with me just a little longer.
