12/31 check-in, prefer 2017 DDP

We check in on 12/31, but we'd prefer the 2 snack DDP which starts on January 1. Any way to request this? I can see it being very confusing for CMs to advise guests what is included in the QS meal, since it may vary based on check in date.

No, no way to request it. You could split stay and only attach DDP to 1/1 onward, but you would have risk of having to change rooms.

Dining plans are based on check in date so you would not be able to get next year's plan with a 2016 check in date.

To get the 2017 dining plan you will have to do 2 separate resort reservations. The first would be for one night (checking in on 12/31 and checking out on 1/1). The second package reservation would be for Jan 1, 2017 through the end of your stay and would include the 2017 dining plan.

You could do the one night (12/31) as a room only reservation and pay out of pocket for food for that one day. If you book the exact same resort and room category for both you could note it is a continuing reservation and request to remain in the same room. While it is not guaranteed, the room assigners will do their best.

We are doing exactly that for our free dining and have a number of times. We have never had to change rooms but we use a disney specialist travel agent so they tend to make sure their requests are noted.
