12/26/2009 - 1/2/2010 Magical New Year's Eve Cruise!

I'm on the fence about the fish extender. Has anyone done it before?? Is is a lot of work?? Also I am NOT creative at all so thinking of little gifts is a HUGE ordeal for me! Let me know your thoughts.

On the Christmas cruise last year I had my red CC bag filled with gifts I received. For my FE gift, I put together a train made out of candy. I hot glued it together. It made so much sense when I thought of it - christmasy, ties into Walt's love of trains, etc. until I went to pack them to take on the plane to FL. I ended up with a carry on full of trains wrapped in bubble wrap along with a glue gun to fix any problems during transport. Note to self this year - consider getting them TO Florida.

It is a lot of fun to come back to your room and find the gifts.

The stuff last year on the Christmas Cruise was cool... Even though I
6itched and moaned the entire time Mrs. hfc1969 was buying stuff.

She bought all her stuff at Walgreens when they discounted all their holiday items right before Christmas. Little bags and filled them with trinkets.. :3dglasses

There were some very elaborate gifts,, like SnowWhite2's train.. it was cool:thumbsup2. But, we just aren't that creative or seem to have enough time..:confused3

Keep it simple .. some where just Hershey bars with labels on them..

Its all good.. :cool2:

The kids love it no matter what it is. pirate:

Thanks for all the info on fish extenders. I will let you know if we decide to do it.

HFC1969..where in Missouri are you guys? (if you don't mind) . We live in Kirkwood.

Have a great day everyone. My DD and I are actually meeting up with some friends that we met on our 3rd DCL. It's been 2 1/2 yrs since the cruise and we still talk!!! We were lucky they happen to live pretty close to us!!

We live out in Defiance.. I work :scared: in Chesterfield & the good Dr is in Wentzville..

I actually grew up in Chesterfield and we just got back from meeting our cruise friends at Chesterfield Mall. We had a great time.

Has anyone starting thinking about what excursions they will be doing on the cruise?? I think we are going to parasail again on CC and do beach stuff on the others and tour Key West. We'll decide for sure when we can do the ressies. We will for sure go to Palo!!! Yum yum!!

We just joined the facebook account....I think there was 5 members...:cool1:

It's growing. Slowly but surely.
It's fun to see who we are talking to.

I joined the facebook group also. Anybody can add me as a friend on facebook if they want to. It's always nice to talk to people who understand our love of Disney!

Can somebody please explain to me what exactly a fish extender is?

No big summer vacations for us so I'm having to look ahead to the cruise. We are driving from Oklahoma to Cincinnati to take my youngest to the doctor and then stopping in St. Louis for a few days on the way home- but I wouldn't really call it a "vacation". But anytime we stay in a hotel, the boys think it is a vacation!

I am going to check out the facebook group now - great idea~!

Fish extenders are things you hang from the fish outside your door and people leave you things in them. Usually a group decides to do this and shares cabin numbers and everyone brings little treats to leave during the week - it is fun.

It is really hard to find a good time isn't it? We missed the last one because we flew in that day and by the time we got to the boat we were starved and forgot to change our watches! I think later may be better - my kids are young, but I think with the excitement of being back on the boat they would be up later than usual. Of course, this year we will be at the Contemporary (New DVC side!) for a few days before the cruise, so we will not arrive in a bad a shape as last year - but others may be a bit more rushed. OK, with all that said we are very open to a time...smile!

Come on people! There has to be more than 9 more of you out there. Facebook is waiting. If you need help gettign set up just ask me. Come join us. It's a lot of fun!

I've been lurking for a while but figured it is time to start posting. My sister and I will be on this cruise. We booked it during our May '08 cruise but it seemed so far away then. We will be celebrated my sister's birthday on the 29th. She has always wanted to do WDW on her birthday but the crowds of the holiday season have scared her away. She decided a cruise would be a nice compromise. We hope to find affordable airfare Christmas day and have a room booked at the BCV's for the night before the cruise. I am looking forward to reading about everyones else's plans.

I will be joining my girlfriend and her family on the NYE cruise in December. It is their family tradition to go on the New Year's DCL cruise every year, and I was lucky enough to be invited to join them in 2008 and again this year.

My girlfriend and I are both WDW cast members, and met while on the Disney College Program. I'm finishing up my last semester of school in upstate New York, and will hopefully be finding a job with Disney come January.

If anyone has questions about the DCL New Years festivities, let me know - my girlfriend is an expert and I'm pretty familiar too.

Jeff,
I would love to know what a Disney New Year Cruise is like!!! What happens on New Years Eve?!

First of all, I just heard that my girlfriend's family made the decision not to go on the NYE cruise this year but instead save up for a Europe cruise in summer 2010.

Anyway, based on the positions of the two Disney ships, we were the only one far enough out to sea to have fireworks at midnight. Yes, that means we were THE ONLY ship at sea with fireworks at midnight. That's definitely something cool to brag about.

The party on deck for New Year's is a lot of fun - champagne all around for a toast, and Disney characters dressed just for the occasion.
