12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

I don't know if you can request a specfic time within the rotation. I have been working on Dale about moving to late seating, but he likes eating early, then going to the shows. Besides, he says if we did late he wouldn't be hungry for the pirate buffet:lmao: I just hope we are on the later end of that rotation. Hope he's ok with lots and lots of little kiddos around. :rotfl2:

I'm worried about the pirate buffet too. I know the kids will go for the turkey legs. They may be half asleep or at least Carter will be. Victoria loves her turkey legs!!! I'm gonna come back 30 pounds heavier. At least right now I am slooowwwwly losing about a pound a week and that's with being on steroids. Once I'm done with them (another week or so) it should be easier. DD and I will be doing the Latin Cardio Dancing with the Stars :thumbsup2 THAT's a workout!

Hey Courtney
I decided to stay up and help you celebrate booking your excursions:dance3: Keeping my fingers crossed while you are online booking away. I'll be around if you want to share tonight:goodvibes

Hi Courtney I had no troubles finishing up the bookings tonight for dh and the boys. Were you able to get everything you wanted?:goodvibes

Thanks! What a doll!

I pretty much got what I wanted.
  • Catamaran Sail and Reef Snorkeling in Nassau
  • The Wild Side Teen Excursion
  • Castaway Ray's Stingrays
  • Palo Dinner on CC Day
We'll get our conch and tour Nassau in the afternoon. Couldn't do the Dig afterwards as it starts when the snorkeling ends. I could always go over there to the resort and pay admission if we really want to I suppose. I was originally going to do Palo on our at sea day but remembered it is Pirate Night and the earliest they had was 7. No brunch times were available but I'm gonna check when we get to port. I'll keep checking back between now and then. Who knows? I might get lucky. Didn't think doing Palo the first night would be good as we will still be getting a feel for the ship.

When and where can I get a Tropical Rainforest Pass? I thought that would be on there but it wasn't. And DH decided he didn't want to do the Rasul. No fun by yourself. :sad1: I thought he'd be all over it. :confused3

I think the longest part of the whole process was the site trying to load everything and telling me not to click or refresh the page. Oh well. The deal is done!!! Now I can breathe....for a little while.

Guess I was finishing typing while you were hitting submit. No worries, mate!

Finally got the website to cooperate! We are booked for parasailing (well, the boys are), stingrays on CC, and the exotic rasul!:thumbsup2

We decided not to book anything at Nassau right now. I think we're going to try it out ourselves, then hang out on the ship. I want to visit Atlantis, though!

It feels good to have that done, but I wish we had a room #!

Since it appears that your really had your heart set on doing the Rasul, I'll be a good DISer and step in to help. If your husband don't want to "be all over it", I will fit it in my schedule for you.

What time works best for you? :scared1:

Andy, where did that link go to the pics of the food? I'm trying to find out exactly what the All Hands on Deck Cheese Platter entails. Don't know if I want to do that or order one that I pay for.....Along with some wine or champagne. If it's close enough I may order the all hands on deck and bring my own champagne
I'll look for it later this afternoon

Glad to hear you got what you wanted!:cool1: Yeah, I forgot to mention that the site loads so slowly.
DCL holds back some time slots for Palo. If you want brunch, just check in once onboard. I'm not positive where you go,just that it is one of the clubs. I would head straight there as I hear it gets pretty crowded.

I don't know where to get a tropical rainforest pass, but I'm sure someone does.

Ok, now that it's over, you can relax and enjoy the rest of your vacation.:thumbsup2

Hello all! Glad the bookings worked out. Congrats on getting what you wanted. I currently have the 8:00 AM Alone Time booked in the spa on the sea day, but think I am going to release the reservation. I just sent a request to DU to book us the 12 Night Baltic w/Estonia and I am no longer feeling the need to do EVERYTHING all on this 4 night cruise. I know a good chunk of the massages on the sea day had already been booked so if anyone is interested, let me know and we'll coordinate when I cancel the booking.

We have Palo on CC Day as well. It is the perfect way to end a cruise.:thumbsup2

The Rainforest Pass is picked up in the Vista Spa. It is not something that you book on line. Just stop by the Spa and make arrangements. I have never heard of it selling out.

The Chesse Platter from room service has always been very nice. We have added fruit from Goofy's Galley on Deck 9. With Jim's glass of wine and my Diet Coke we are set to watch a beautiful sunset.:lovestruc (We obviously are on late dining. I am hoping for 8pm)

Hi Caroline:wave2:

Welp, my guys will be fishing till 12:45,so Lindsey and I will be free for shopping after our parasail. (We have the 9:00 slot) I'd say 10:00 to 10:15 ish.:cloud9:

Unless they added something since 2000 it's probably just Disney soviees. Same as on the ship except they say Castaway Cay on them.

I'm not one to turn down soviees! :-) Sounds like fun!

Cool! Thanks for the info. I figured I could bring my own bottle of bubbly or wine and supplement. Even get some sparkling grape juice for the kiddos. We LLOOOOVVVEEE cheese! I figured the one that you can buy might have a little more on it but probably not much. I had read somewhere that alot of people try to get Palo on the 4th night so I was surprised to see slots available.

Bottles of wine/alcohol/champagne.....do I have to bring those on the carry-on or can I check them? I'm planning on wrapping them in bubble wrap and sticking in a plastic shoe box so I also have something to carry fragile souvenirs home in once the libations are gone.

Bottles of wine and champagne need to be in your carry on.

Since I am the only one in my family that enjoys the fine grapes, I bring individual champagne bottles. I do get a few looks when I walk into breakfast with my glass of champagne, but they are always glad to top it off with a little OJ for my mamosa.

So am I really going to regret not doing Palo this time? It's our first cruise, so we want to enjoy all the restaurants. It's Christmas, and DH's birthday, but we want to celebrate WITH our kids - and they are all at ages (7,9,11) where they like eating in the cool restaurants with us. We fully anticipate this NOT being our last cruise, Disney or otherwise, so I'm sure there will be another chance to eat at Palo. I was going to shoot for a brunch time, but those were gone. I might try for it when we board, but I really don't want to stand in line or fight mobs to do it. If our kids were younger/older, it would be different, I guess. Or if the cruise were longer... I'm just 2nd-guessing when everyone talks about it!!

We felt the same way for our first cruise. Palo was still available at my 75 day window, but I was content to just enjoy the regular dining rotation. For me, one of the big bonuses of DCL is having some alone time with the hubby. You might have a Palo dinner during first dining while your kids are in the Club and then meet up with them for a regular dinner during second rotation. Goodness knows we've all paid a premium for this cruise. Might as well get our money's worth. Either way, the dinners are fabulous, but my vote is for a little romantic dinner with the hubby!

Well today I am cooking my Thanksgiving slash Christmas dinner. I have a butter basted and stuffed 25 pound turkey baking. I just made some roasted sweet potatoes and carrots. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce...stuffing mmmmmm stuffing. Of course pumpkin pie and whip cream for dessert and a big ol magnum of Asti and a nice cheap bottle of Wolf Blass Australian Shiraz. It is a lovely sunny crisp fall day with a temp of 42f.

Come on over for dinner and spanish coffees for everyone by the fire later
