12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Happy Birthday to your DD. I would love to see Diana Ross. Bon Jovi is coming to OKC this summer. I wanted to go, but DH doesn't want to go with me. Guess I'll have to settle for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the 4th of July concert at Ft Sill. :rotfl2:

OMG Diana Ross was incredible!!! What a Diva what a performance!!!!!! I would love to see BJ or LS thst would be great too! I am bidding on a auction right now for the Kanye West which is coming here on the 30th. I would love to see him! Yes I know at 42 you might be saying HUH???:rotfl2:

Did they add dates? I thought that they only went to December 19 this year? If they are available, I am going!

Adrianna

I checked the WDW site, and it has the lastdate for MVMCP Dec. 19. I was so excited to see the DISboard chart that had later dates listed. Stinks to miss it by one day:sad1:

So glad you enjoyed Diana Ross.I got our LS tickets today. It's an outdoor 4th of July concert at Ft. Sills polo field. July 8th I'm taking Lindsey and her best friend to see the Jonas Brothers in Oklahoma City. I have a feeling I'll be taking ear plugs along.:lmao:

Feel like I have been out of the loop forever! I had a very busy week. Monday was my last night of class, Wednesday my son graduated from Pre-K and I handed out scholarships at our wives club luncheon, Wednesday night Church and planning meeting for VBS. Thursday was my Birthday which I unfortunatly had to spend most of the day obtaining an OK driver's liscense. Today is for recovery.

Happy birthday Adrianna:flower3: Sorry you had to spend it at the DVM:sad2: Hopefully things improved once you got home.

I get to take the twins to get their driving permit next week. They turn 15 1/2 tomorrow. I'm not sure I'm ready for this:scared1:

What a beautiful picture of you and your son!He looks adorable in his little cap and gown:) What church do you attend?

Happy early birthday to you:flower3: Ok, now you have to post a picture of your new look:hippie:
Lindsey talked her dad into letting her get her nose pierced for her 15th birthday. The deal was, it has to stay small. She has a tiny diamond stud, and it doesn't look bad at all.( I had visions of huge rings hanging out of her nose:lmao: :scared1: )

Well, we got Lindsey's car today. a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Man is it tiny. I do fine in it,but Michael's head hits the top of the roof, and his head is like 6 inches above the headrest:rotfl2: Safe to say,he will only drive it to take his driving test. If the officer doesn't laugh himself to death first:lmao:

I will get dh to take a pic! My Mom is also buying a 09 Corolla. Mom has a 02 Corolla and it has 137,000 miles on it and runs like a charm. Good little cars they go forever!:thumbsup2

Adrianna, isn't he ADORABLE!!! Long eyelashes, bright blue eyes, and DIMPLES!!! My son was lucky enough to get one. Sounds like you had a busy week. Happy late birthday!!! :cheer2:

The concerts all sound great. I would love to see BJ or even LS. My kids love the Jonas Brothers as well. Alas, DD and I as well as one of her friends and mom will be attending the American Idol concert. Gotta get as close as possible to David Archuletta. Me...I'll be happy if Simon is there. JK.

Looks like we will just be missing MVMCP as well. Although it wasn't originally in the plans. Cirque du Soleil is at Six Flags in the evening for the summer. Thought I would take the kids to that (thank goodness they are back this year; I wanted to see them last year and didn't) and see if they want more at DTD.

Pray for me this evening. DD has her first date, of which I am chaperoning, at a movie. I'll sit a few rows back. AND she got her learner's permit this week too. Too much for one week. She's growing up.:sad1:

Man...are you brave!!! Even if I wanted to, I can't have any visible tattoos or piercings due to work. Doesn't set a good example for the kids at the hospital. Or so they are saying. I have an interesting email to send you guys if you will PM me. You will LOVE IT!!! I'll just have to stick to my tattoos. Although I am thinking of getting another.....:rolleyes1

Brenda, sounds like your kids are just a tad bit younger than mine. Her birthday is in early December. Happy early birthday to you. Mine is in August. Still don't know what I want other than a $1500 camera but I don't think I'll get it.

We were looking into a Corolla as well. I won't buy anything until at least December. Maybe after that. Don't know yet. Still in denial. But at least a Toyota or Honda. Maybe even a Nissan. Gotta love those imports!!

Actually, the twins are slightly older. Their birthday is Nov. 24th. How early in Dec is your DD's birthday? We got her car this early because she is so active, and on the go. We couldn't keep gas in the Durango, and it was costing close to $100 to fill the tank. And we can easily run through two tanks a week:scared1:

You are right! Hers is December 10th. Actually, I think she was due on the 24th but decided to come on her own time. Guess I got my calculation wrong on the 15 1/2 mark. That was pre-coffee. Actually, this message is too but I have been awake a little while longer.

I guess there is one blessing that DD is not more involved in things. She still is, but not to the same extent as other people's kids and what she could be. I try to convince her to be, especially in extracurricular activities at the school but nothing grabs her fancy.

WOW! The gas!!! I am sure glad we don't use that much gas. How much is gas there? It is currently $3.79 at most places here.

The twins were actually due Dec. 24,but they were four weeks early. Gas is .3.75 here, but it was 3.79 earlier this week. I have begun topping off the tank when it gets between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank. I doesn't hurt quite as much. Lindsey is on the swim team, and is keeping up in practice by working with the YMCA's swim team over the summer. She also takes dance. They had their end if the year recital last Sat.,but are getting ready for dance camp in June and July. Lindsey signed up for both sessions. I'll be taking her four days a week in the morning for dance, then the same four days for swim in the evenings. She asked me this past school year if I would sign a work releasr so she could get a job. I had to laugh and ask her where she was going to fit in a job? Between dance, swim ,and her social schedule, there isn't enough hours in the day for a job:rotfl2: They took their first drivers Ed class last week. They were supposed to take the second class the following day,but had previous commitments. They are supposed to begin driving next week.:scared1: They have both driven out here in the country, but not in traffic

Hi Brenda-

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Oklahoma has the most inefficient system for getting a license that I have ever seen. First I had to go to the state patrol office and do all that nonsense, then I had to go someplace else... a tag agency to pay and actually get my license. If I had waited a day past expiration, I would have had to retake the written and the driving test! Can you imagine... uhm, Brenda... would you mind giving me a lift to the DMV... so I can take my driving test?

We attend St. Andrews Episcopal. It is very beautiful and truly a holy place.

Hi Annette-

Thanks for the birthday wishes. While I did refrain from piercings and tattoos this year, it was quite special anyhoo. I just have one word for you... that's "ouch".

And Courtney-

Thanks! He is my little bug and he is the male spitting image of me, minus the dimples. Poor kid has to have his tonsils out next week. I am so glad I am not having to buy cars yet. I enjoy being an "old mom" even though many of my high school friends will be empty nesters in the next 3-5 years. Wow, what would that be like? I'll be over 50 when my last one flies away.

Adrianna

Brenda-
Certainly sounds like she is very busy. Definitely no time for a job. She should enjoy it while she can. Victoria started Drivers Ed last week as well. She starts driving this next week once the learner's permit is in hand. Wish we had access to the country like I did growing up. I remember I first drove on our ranch in an old Ford pickup truck. Dad needed to back up the trailer in a certain spot but couldn't do it without help. So.....he enlisted me and I drove it with his direction. At 10!! Good times :goodvibes

Adrianna-
Wish I knew some surgeons up there. Don't know if you recall or not that I am a pediatric OR nurse. I HIGHLY recommend having tonsils out as a kid. I had mine out 5 years ago. NEVER AGAIN!! But I haven't had strep 3 times in 9 months again...so it might have been worth it. There are lots of horror stories but the good news is that kids bounce back fairly quickly. I got to the point that I couldn't even get ice cream down and swallowing was a chore. If it comes to that, give him Gatorade. It really helped me. It provided calories whereas water doesn't. Ask the surgeon if he will inject any local anesthesia into the tonsillar bed. If he does, DS may be able to eat almost anything the first day. And be aware on post-op days 6-10. That is usually when people will bleed, if they do. The scab falls off and then....you get the idea. Hope I'm not scaring you. Wish he was having it done here. I would ask to be his nurse. I typically only do heart surgeries now but would ask my boss if I could go over to the regular OR for 30 minutes. Do you know if the surgeon uses the Coblator? He may not have mentioned it but it speeds up the recovery even more. It's a wonderful thing. BTW, you have dimples too. I think they are always more pronounced in the kids. My DS's are. And "old mom".....hard to believe. You carry your age well then.

Okay, so I'm not a huge shopping fan. Perhaps my woman card should be taken away. However, I am excited about shopping for this trip. I was wondering if, since our cruise is a Christmas sailing, I suppose I should buy any warmer weather/tropical/swimming attire that we may need now. Is that correct? Or do you guys have sources.....;)

I am hesitant to buy myself much since I am working hard on being smaller by the time we go.....And buying everything now is a pain when you are buying things for summer camp x3, one of which includes DS's first weeklong Boy Scout camp. Requires different gear than Cub Scouts, you know.

Adrianna-

Has your DH every done the Veteran of the Day at Magic Kingdom? If not, I highly recommend it. Although he is not a veteran, they should still let him do it (they ask if active or retired). Have to get there first thing though. Mike did it in January and we were all so proud of him. Basically, the VOD assists with retiring the colors in Main St, complete with announcing his name, and the crowd gathering as onlookers. Then they march down Main, around the corner, and the family gets to fall in too. It's so fun having everyone watch and at such a magical place. Definitely a unique experience that not everyone can do. It was my surprise to him but I let it slip one day so he knew about it beforehand.

I haven't heard any horror stories. Should I? Yikes. This is my baby we're talking about. But he does traverse the bed up, down and sideways during the night so the doc is calling it apnia. He has a nasal-y little voice and the docs who have looked at his tonsils always say something like "whoa, that's a the biggest set of tonsils I've ever seen on a kid". I don't know the particulars on the surgery, just that it is being done as outpatient surgery by a civilian ENT who basically said it would be easy as pie and healed in a week. Should I be worried?

I'll take the compliment and thank you. I give the props to good skincare when it comes to aging. When I quit working to stay home with my babies, I gave up most of my little luxuries, but not the skincare regimen. And, I have a great hubby, who all things considered (3 combat deployments in 5 years) causes me very little stress. :bride: When I get fretful about anything he tells me he won't pay for botox if I'm the one giving myself wrinkles. I suppose only the kids are allowed to give me wrinkles! I did however find my first gray hair a few weeks ago, so it seems that aging is inevetable no matter how much pricey goo I slather on the face. :cutie:

Adrianna

That is toooo funny!!! I wouldn't give up the good skincare either. It's never too early to start. I worked with a plastic surgeon for a while so I definitely see and recognize the benefits. DH sounds wonderful! Won't pay for the botox if you are causing the wrinkles....:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Sounds like my kind of man.

As for the surgery, it really is no big deal. I just know people that have heard of horror stories and they get all bent out of shape. At most, the procedure will be 30 min. I have heard the tonsil comment before about my own...when I still had them. But the more I had strep throat the more they shrank. And healed in a week is right on. It's usually more painful and longer as an adult. Just curious as to the equipment. It's one of my vices....Don't worry a bit.
