12/20/07 Christmas Cruise 2007 (Updated DIS cruisers list)

Renee - you have an amazing attitude with such a sudden tragedy in your family. I'm sure that being with your children and watching the fun and joy that they experience will help a bit, but I'm sure it will still be a bittersweet time for you, too.

I almost hate to shift gears so suddenly here, but I posted on the main boards after having a scare with packages I shipped to the address I pulled off the FAQs and with so many people planning on shipping boxes for Christmas, I thought this would be valuable info. The bottom line is that Shirley gave me the phone number and a POC for IDS which is the address on the FAQs to ship boxes for your cruise. I called in a panic that I had neglected to list my sail date on the box - I put it on the packing list on the box, but not in big black/white letters on the box. The bottom line was that while polite and helpful, the man made it clear that he was very displeased that info about the address was out "in public" and that they were not intended to take and manage personal boxes of any type.

He also said anything shipped USPS goes straight to the ship and NOT to them at the warehouse, whereas UPS and FedEx go to the warehouse.

He did confirm that my tree had made it down that we shipped last week. Hopefully the other box that we shipped via UPS on Friday will make it intact, too.

Just 9 days until we are en route for a few days at WDW first! Celebrating my 40th birthday a few days prior to the cruise! :santa:

RE "the man made it clear that he was very displeased that info about the address was out "in public" and that they were not intended to take and manage personal boxes of any type." I don't understand this at all. I have spoken to IDS several times and found them very helpful in explaining the process, what should not be packed, how to address the box. Obviously, I conclude from this that IDS fully expects to handle passenger items.

Yes, he was very helpful in specifying what should and should not be packed in the box, etc. He kind of took me aback by opening with "who told you to send anything here?"! And then went on to say that they were not intended to receive personal goods, primarily due to the challenges associated with customs. I assured him that I understood what should or should not be packed and that I was very complete about the packing list.

It was just not a reaction I was expecting!

By the time we finished the call, he was reassuring me that they would keep their eyets open for my second box and that it would get to it's destination - nonetheless, it was strange.

Today he delivered 12 t-shirts for the "Bryan Buccaneers". Y'all won't be missing us in our tangerine orange tees:rotfl2:

Yesterday my lovable UPS guy delivered our orange glow necklaces.

Gotta go finish my fish extenders. And, good grief, then it's on to the door decorations.

Sorry to hear about your mother......

We have two 3 year olds, dd and ds. Also dd 5. We are a pretty obvious crowd, as all three little ones are adopted from China.

I am sure we will see you in the lab.......

Thanks Flexmom - DH & I just turned 40 in August! Happy Birthday!

Thanks Irene - I love the little pirates! I will keep an 'aye' out for them!

It has been a while since I have been on DIS. We had a very active group on our first Cruise almost three years ago - but that was September when the season was not as busy. Our last cruise I didn't even log on - I was working full time + and had a little baby and 2 yr old at the time and didn't get much extra done...smile. I will try to figure out how to load up my little pirates!

My daughter did enjoy the kids club on that trip although she did not want to spend a long time in the kids club - it was motivation for her to get potty trained before we left! I think now that she is three and goes to daycare every day it will be a more fun time for her. I am looking forward to next year when my son can join her - provided he can potty train! It is nice they let them in early if they can pass the evaluation (FYI for anyone with a potty trained 2 yr old.)

It looked like there were not many babies needing childcare when I went online this week. I was shocked that there were still lots of nursery spaces open! Not all that I needed, but I know we can work it out when we get aboard since it doesn't look over crowded! That was a huge relief!

Looking forward to FL! We are driving and leaving in less than 1 week!

Thanks again all for the positive encouragement! :santa:

Hi! Just went to print off the stateroom numbers of everyone on the cruise from post 1 and I find that there are only about 10 on the list that have posted their stateroom numbers... if you all don't mind posting them, we have a little something for you once we are on the cruise!

I didn't post mine because I'm traveling with grandkids and expect to be fully involved with their activities. However my door magnets will give away my DIS connection anyway, so check out the Star Wars theme @ 2609.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Thanks! We aren't going to bother anyone...we just have something for everyone for the holiday...

Merry Christmas and safe travels!

My family will be in room 2538. I can not remember my parents or brothers room. I know they are next to each other down the hall.

I will try to keep up as everyone postes or sends me a PM with their stateroom number. lllpath I don't have you listed on page one or have your stateroom number either:confused3

We are having a small Christmas party with about 30 of our closest friends tonight. I am also trying to pack for the cruise and I am realizing I will be bringing at least one extra suitcase because of a Christmas tree and holiday decorations. Oh, brother! I am usually a GREAT packer but it seems like I want to take the whole house this cruise. Anyone else finding they are bringing more than they usually would?:santa:

I hear you on the packing. I thought I might ship a box to port...ah a little late now.

My goal is to have all (8) suitcases packed and ready by tonight. We leave Wednesday for some pre-cruise time at the World:cool1:

See y'all Saturday!! (Remember we'll be the family in the "Christmas" orange tees. )

i am having a hard time getting started. I do not know where to begin. We did pull the suitcases out. I plan to be done by tonight, except the daily basic. I guess the good thing is that I do not have to have something specific washed before we go. I just need to pull out the spring/summer clothes!

As far as number of suitcases, I think we will be fine. We did two weeks in Germany and Italy with winter type clothes and did it with 6 bags. i think I can get away with 8 on this trip! :rotfl:

We are in 6010.
Sorry I could not find our chat here for a while.

Hi,
I'm furiously packing, as well. It looks like Christmas Eve is a casual night. It's hard for me to think about being casual on Christmas Eve. Of course, it's hard for me to think about packing summer clothes in the winter, too!:)
