12/20/07 Christmas Cruise 2007 (Updated DIS cruisers list)

We are bringing the gift wrapped in a bag that way they can be inspected without ruined.

I think they leave some of Palo's back for onboard ressies. Just go there right away and see if you can make one.

We are letting our DD have signing in and out priveledges but this is her 5th Disney cruise and we have definetly layed out the rules.

Thank you for the responses. I think I am allowing my DD to sign in/out. I figure if we get there and need to take away the option, we will.

We decorate our door. This time I am purchsing some of those BIG plastic door decorations and adding magnets to the back. We have one for pirate night already and I need one for Christmas too.:santa:

Great idea! So by magnets it is safe to say they are metal doors, huh.

Big metal doors! We have put magnetic pictures up and flags (adding magnets to the back). You can put anything on the door as long as there is a magnet attached!

I also bought out the leftover window clings last year after Christmas - each sheet was 50 cents! - for my kids to decorate the sliding glass doors. I am going to order poinsettias for my parents and my in-laws from Shirley as a "welcome aboard" gift so they'll have some holiday decor in their room, too, as well as a small tree for our room since that is where we'll have Christmas am for the family.

I am seriously considering shipping a box ahead of time with our stockings, our formal wear, and some small gifts along with a collapsable empty duffle, but I am really worried about how upset I'll be if it gets lost!

I have called Shirley and it does not sound like the Pointsettia is going to be an option. The small artificial tree (that will need to be put together) will run about $75 (decorated) plus delivery.

I am waiting to see what Disney offers for a Holiday ammenity before I decide.

has anyone gone on the excursion Golden Eagle Catamaran? I was thinking about going on this at st. martin's. it has gotten luke warm ratings but sounds pretty nice. if you have gone what is the sea sickness factor (1-10 with a 10 not being able to get vertical because you are hanging on to a bucket)?

Thought I would add ages of our gang to update the first page.

DH
DW
DD 15
DD friend 15
DD 5
DD 3 1/2
DS 3 1/2

Looking forward to an awesome time...working on St. Martin stuff now!

Time to get our names and ages on here too. :santa:

Me: 40
DH: 40
DD: 12
DS: 12

But our twins will be three weeks from turning 13, so they'll probably be hanging out with the teens.

Looking forward to our first cruise. Christmas + Disney = Magic!

Thanks! Well, that narrows things down a bit, definitely! I guess we'll compare as well and then figure out what to do. I know that our room will likely be the "most" decorated, but it would be nice to have a little something in both of the grandparent's rooms!

Just returned LATE last night from Disney World. I will update the name list later.

The Days of Christmas had a couple of small Christmas trees. We bought the fiber optic one for $29.95 and there was another one that did not have any lights and it was $29.00. I took a couple of pictures with my iPhone if you want to see what they look like you can PM me with your email address and I can send you the picture. I have the phone number to the Days of Christmas Store and I am sure they would ship a tree to whoever wants one.

mwstar,

What are you planning for St. Martin? Our group has reserved a bus from NoRushTours. I've yet to figure out where all we want to go.

Anyone have suggestions?

My understanding is that most everything will be closed that day since it is Christamas Day. We will probably just do a run over to Orient Beach. I have a private guide for 3 to 4 hours. We didn't want to get off the ship too early since it is Christmas morning and we have little ones. This way too, if the weather is bad, we can alter our plan accordingly.

Hello everyone,

In 7 weeks we will be on the magic!!! :yay: :cool1:

In St. Thomas we are doing the speed boat then we will go to Megans bay, and in St. Martin we will probably just go to great bay beach right by the pier. We went to great bay last year and rented a couple chairs, an umbrella, and jet skis. Since most things will be closed, we will just do the same this year.

We have been changing our minds about our shore excursions. We are thinking Dune Buggies in St. Martin. If anyone wants more information on this send me a PM because it is not through DCL. St. Thomas we are rethinking the submarine booked through DCL and are maybe thinking Coral World (again not through DCL and you can send me a PM). We are still doing the sting rays on Castaway Cay and I have my Mom booked for parasailing. We are heading to my folks tomorrow and will be talking it over with them.

I just check the port of st. maarten for cruise ships scheduled to be there on 12/25 and only one other ship is scheduled. On 12/24 there will be 6 cruise ships - two of which have capacities of over 3,000!

I think we might also just do a day on the beach in St. Maarten. For those who have been there before, is it better to book with dcl? what are the pros and cons?

We are planning on renting cars in St. Maartin and driving around the island.

I can not wait until Castaway. My daughter will go parasailing for the first time. DH and I went last year in Disney and the Magic Kingdom was awesome from the sky. :beach:

We are counting down the days! :hourglass

Hi Stormys and welcome!

For everyone - DCL has pulled off the "Halloween treats" on-line and has replaced them with "holiday treats" or something like that, so if you access your reservation, you can see the items offered for sale for staterooms. There is a small "tree centerpiece" as well as some floral arrangements, a "decoration" package, and several more gift-oriented holiday items, too.

I have several sheets of the window clings I picked up last year along with that disposable garland that I figure I'll let my kids string up around the room, and augment with a small tree of some description! On some other thread there was a guy who actually carried a 4' tree aboard as a carry-on item! I don't think I'll even try to propose that one to my DH! The reaction I know he would have just makes me :rotfl: !

:santa: :santa:
