12/20/07 Christmas Cruise 2007 (Updated DIS cruisers list)

Our DD is 10 (will be 11 in January). If there is another girl cruising that will be in the 10-12 year old group and would like an email buddy prior to the cruise please send me a PM.

Okay, need help. I have no idea what PM means. My DD is 10. Love to set up a buddy for her. She is finding out about the trip this weekend from my parents, so she will be excited to "meet" someone.
...
5 minutes later...Never mind, figured it out.

I was going to order a Christmas tree from a Perfect Gift but for $75+ dollars and something that I will have to pack home afterwards we have decided against that. I called DCL and they will have some Christmas Amenities available for purchase after Thanksgiving. I was hoping for a pointsetta or something festive for the room. I asked DD about bringing her stocking and she said it was not necessary (she knows about Santa). So, I purchased a make-up case that will contain small Christmas gifts (make-up, new digital camera, a disposable underwater camera, money to spend on jewlery in St. Marten or St. Thomas and probably candy or such). We are flying from the West Coast so you can't have items wrapped for security purposes. I will probably have one bag with some Christmas stuff and be wrapping the day before the cruise while we are at the Hyatt.

WELCOME! I will add add you to the first page!

My daughter would love an e-mail buddy too. I tried to PM you both rsschneck and dreamsoftravel, but it wouldn't let me because I don't have enough posts yet. ?? Can you try to PM me?

i have never been in the south for winter so what kind of weather can i expect? we will be in fl. for a couple of days before the cruise. will i need to bring long pants with us or just shorts and capris?

also for those who have cruised during this time of year before- what kind of temps can we expect while on the cruise? i understand that temps can vary but do we need to bring half shorts and half pants when we pack?

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around much, busy with kids and such.

We've been on 2 Christmas cruises. We wore jeans and a sweatshirt down (we're from Ohio). Used the jeans one night at WDW. Never wore them again till the trip home. On one cruise, we wore sweatshirts with shorts the first day at sea (just in the morning) and on CC. All the other days we had shorts and t-shirts/tank tops on.

This Saturday the cruise will only be 10 weeks away!!!!

I have heard that on special cruises (like the Christmas cruise) sometimes Don Ducky does a special Litho (1 per stateroom). Have you ever received a Litho from Ducky Williams on one of your prior Christmas Cruises?

My DD is emailing your DD. I still can't PM - I guess I'll just have to keep posting until I get enough to look like I'm active here!

Last night we were able to book some shore excursions, one Palo reservation, and one couples cabana massage! :yay:

This is our first cruise of any kind, and have no idea what to expect, other than what I read here. I have great expectations!

Anyone else with a 14yo boy that might want to hang out with my DS 14?

Lynnette

Thanks rsschneck- DD is e-mailing yours!
I don't think we'll get these girls out of the kids club LOL

My nephew, 14, will be on the cruise with us. He will be with his sis and my 2 DD so I am sure he would like to hang out with another boy. pirate:

Okay - several questions for all of you that know what you are doing. :grouphug:

1) Is the boat security like airport security? :cool2: I plan to bring gifts with me and would prefer to have them wrapped in advance. I know you can not have gifts wrapped on planes - will boat security be a problem?

2) After some issues with Disney not applying payment correctly, I was FINALLY able to get online to my reservation screen. Of course, Palo's was not available. What are the chances of getting reservations onboard?

3) And last, but not least (for now) - anyone have any feed back about a 10 year old girl allowed to sign herself in and out of the kids club? I was not expecting that as an option.

I am getting so excited it is crazy. I am already planning the next time I want to go on the cruise - and have not even gone on this one yet.

I am packing my own little tree. I picked it up at Walmart last year for my desk at work. It is no more then 12 inches (got it for $1.00). If folds up. I have a small string of lights, a dozen small ornaments. I figure the first night or first morning we will spend a big 5 minutes decorating.

I read somewhere that door decorating is an option. How common is this?

We are bringing the gift wrapped in a bag that way they can be inspected without ruined.

I think they leave some of Palo's back for onboard ressies. Just go there right away and see if you can make one.

We are letting our DD have signing in and out priveledges but this is her 5th Disney cruise and we have definetly layed out the rules.

We decorate our door. This time I am purchsing some of those BIG plastic door decorations and adding magnets to the back. We have one for pirate night already and I need one for Christmas too.:santa:
