We've been going to Kona' for about seven years straight. My favorite was the Pan Asian Noodles under the old chef (he left about 3 years ago.)
We always get the Sticky wings, My new favorite is the Shrimp and Scallops. It wouldn't be a WDW trip for us with out a trip to Kona'. We'll be there in less then 3 weeks.

The sticky wings are amazing! I would love to find a recipe to duplicate them at home.

For lunch today, we had reservations for Yak 'n' Yeti. We have been to the CS but this was our first time trying the TS restaurant.

On the table was Siracha chili sauce and soy sauce:

C loves wonton soup from the local Chinese restaurant so he ordered that. It came with fried wonton chips. He didn't like them, but I did. You could tell they made them fresh. They were very light and crispy.

Wonton Soup - pork wontons, clear chicken broth and vegetables $4.99

This is the kid's menu:

For his meal, he had plain lo mein and french fries. They gave him a lot of fries!

I chose the Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw $24.99 as my entree.

These ribs fell off the bone. They were great. The sauce was sweet. There were a lot of them, so D and M tried some and liked them as well. I would definitely order this again.

I also liked the slaw that came with the ribs. Rice needed a lot of soy sauce!

M had the Lo Mein - Lo Mein noodles, carrots, cabbage, green onoins, bean sprouts; Chicken $15.99.

D had the Stir-Fried Beef and Broccoli - flank steak, broccoli, brown sauce $17.99

Dessert was a chocolate pudding for C, Mango Pie - shortbread cookie crust, fresh whipped cream, raspberry sauce $6.99 for D, Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99 for me, and the Sorbet - Mango, lemon, raspberry $6.99 for M.

I didn't like the fried wontons. They were way too sweet with the cream cheese and pretty heavy. D liked them. M tried one and didn't like the wonton, but liked the pineapple. I just ate the strawberries on the side since I don't like plain vanilla ice cream.

D ordered the mango pie and he seemed to have liked it because he ate the whole thing. It looked good.

M offered me one of the sorbets since I didn't eat my dessert. I had the lemon sorbet. Very refreshing. Nice light dessert. There was also a mango sorbet and a raspberry sorbet.

C wasn't hungry so he didn't have any of his chocolate pudding. He also doesn't like marshmallows. The menu didn't say that they had marshmallows on the pudding. I tried some pudding. It was grainy and not that much of a rich chocolate flavor. Not good at all.

Overall, we really loved the food here and I will definitely come back again. Just going to ordering something else for dessert.

EVERYTHING POP

After coming back from AK, we stayed around the pool and visited the different POP buildings. For dinner, we went to Everything POP! foodcourt.

D had a Bacon Double Cheeseburger - $8.09.

It comes with french fries. They were crispy. He enjoyed his burger.

M had a Chicken Caesar Salad - $7.19.

They put a lot of chicken in there. It had so much, that she took a few pieces out and put them on another plate. I tried one. It was very moist and tender.

I had the Chicken Mediterranean Flatbread - $8.29. This was great. It was like a Greek salad on a flatbread. The bottom was kalamata olives, covered in artichoke and feta cheese. Yum! Very flavorful.

D's dessert was a brownie. They're very fudgy here.

M and I got a fruit cup and an ice cream sundae that we shared. The sundae was huge. They let you chose three scoops of any flavor. There was mint chocolate chip, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, rocky road, sugar free butter pecan, rainbow sherbert, cookies and cream. Toppings were nuts, sprinkles, strawberry topping, hot fudge, whipped cream, and brownie pieces. You were able to pick your toppings and the CM would make it for you.

We chose chocolate, rocky road, and mint chocolate chip. This was topped with a very generous amount of whipped cream, covered in hot fudge and sprinkles. It was great and really big. We shared and still couldn't finish it.

Snack credits today were used on a Mickey bar for me and C. D had a sundae with two scoops chocolate and one scoop cookies and cream, covered in whipped cream, hot fudge, and sprinkles. C also got Nachos with Cheese - $3.49 as a snack credit. It's a great use of a snack credit because I could see it being eaten as a meal, too. They give you a nice amount of chips covered in hot nacho cheese sauce.

We also used a CS credit on a Nachos Supreme - $6.69 and split it. It had so many toppings on it. Black olives, jalapenos, chili, nacho cheese, tomatoes, and onions. This was very good.

I love this foodcourt so much! There are just so many options here.

Ok, we are going to Yak & Yeti in 17 days and the chicken lo mein and stir fried beef and broccoli are exactly the 2 dishes I'm debating between. Your picture didn't help because they both look fantastic! Any chance you could tell me which one was tastier? Did they both like them?

I didn't taste either dish but I know that both of them really liked them. G actually mentioned his dish a few days ago when we ordered Chinese. If I were to order one of two dishes next time at Yak and Yeti I would chose the Beef and Broccoli. I was going to order that before deciding on getting ribs.

PIZZA PLANET ARCADE

For lunch today, we went to Pizza Planet in DHS. I don't find the DHS counter service restaurants special or worth mentioning, but the fact that this one was an arcade was nice. I love the theme with all the Little Green Aliens everywhere. Toy Story is one of my favorite Pixar movies.

D and I got a Vegetable Pizza combo (with side mixed greens salad), M had a Pepperoni Pizza combo, and C had a Cheese Pizza combo. There were three different salad dressings at the fixin' bar: ranch, fat free italian, and blue cheese. I don't like ranch or blue cheese so I chose the Italian which was very flavorful. D chose ranch and M chose blue cheese.

The pizzas here are good. Very doughy and cheesy. We all enjoyed them. Salad greens were very crisp and fresh. There were a few cherry tomatoes in the mix too.

For dessert, C, D, and M had a chocolate chip cookie, and I had a sugar cookie. The cookies were very soft. I had half of my sugar cookie and put the other half back in the paper bag and into my bag. On the bus going back to the resort, I pulled out my camera and saw that it was all wet. I didn't know what it was..I didn't have water in my bag. I pulled out the bag with my cookie and saw that it was covered in oil. Yuck..I threw the rest of the cookie out.

CHEF MICKEY'S DINNER

Today for dinner, we visited the Contemporary Resort and ate at Chef Mickey's. Right when you give in your name, they take you over to the Chef Mickey figure and have everyone take a picture with him.

I chose mac n cheese, parmesan mashed potatoes, turkey pot pie (didn't get the crust, just the filling), broccoli and cheese, a creamy chicken pasta, and Mickey ravioli.

Mac n cheese was a cute Mickey shape. Very creamy and cheesy. C loved it and filled his plate with that.

The parmesan mashed potatoes were sooo good. I went back for just that after. M loved them too. You really taste the cheese in them. Smooth, except for a chunk here or there. I copied down the recipe and we are making them soon.

Turkey pot pie was very flavorful. I mixed it with my mash and it tasted really good.

Broccoli and cheese was very good. M liked them too. Very cheesy.

I didn't like the creamy chicken pasta. Thought it was a bit bland..this was the only thing I didn't like, however. The Mickey ravioli was great. C loved it.

M and D liked the chicken and said it was so moist.

For dessert I had a bowl of chocolate ice cream, a brownie, Mickey oreo bonbon, and red velvet cake. I tried a sliver of M's carrot cake, too.

I had a bite of a sugar cookie, which was exactly like the one I had today at Pizza Planet. Very soft and chewy.

On one side, the chocolate ice cream came out like soup, but on the other side it was frozen. It was a bit grainy, though. Melted really fast, too. By the time I walked back to the table, it was like soup.

Brownie was thick, rich, and fudgy.

Oreo bonbon was eh..way too rich for me, but M and D liked them a lot. I liked the mousse on the top and didn't eat the Oreo. Red velvet cake and carrot cake were soo moist; especially the red velvet. Great cream cheese frosting on that.

I was hesitant at first about Chef Mickey's but was soo glad we tried it. It was great and everyone enjoyed it. I would definitely come here again.

THE PLAZA

For lunch, we had reservations for the Plaza at Magic Kingdom. This is a new restaurant for us, so it was nice to try out. Our reservations were for 2PM but we checked in at 1 and were seated right away.

I was surprised by how small this place was. It was just a small room and we were seated so close to the family next to us, that we held a nice conversation with them.

There were condiments on the table:

without mayo. I didn't pay attention to it being white bread. I don't like white bread, so I pulled out the middle bread and ate mostly the cold cuts. It was an okay sandwich..I didn't find anything special about it. The bread was toasted. I love the house made chips that came with the sandwich. Your other side options are french fries or broccoli slaw.

D had the [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Cheese Steak Sandwich - shaved beef, grilled with onions, mushrooms, red peppers, and white American cheese served on a hoagie roll $11.49[/FONT]

She thought it was pretty big and couldn't finish it. This was also with french fries.

C had the Grilled Chicken Sticks with apple wedges, rice and BBQ sauce. Subbed french fries. He ate these. Different from the regular crispy chicken strips that are usually offered.

with mint chocolate chip ice cream and hot fudge. This was so good. The hot fudge was thick and gooey. My ice cream was already slightly melty when it came, but I was fine with that.

M had a banana split. It's pretty big. The standard flavors that come with it are chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. I'm sure you can sub for whatever flavors you want, though.

D had a brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream. The brownie was huge and very fudgy.

C had the Mickelodeon ice cream which he loved because it had Mickey ears on it.

MAIN STREET CONFECTIONARY 8-24-09

For a snack today, we went to Main Street Confectionary and got a box of fudge. The fudge was so fresh..very soft and rich. We chose a smores fudge, two brownie fudge pieces, two chocolate, and a nut. I have never tasted fresher fudge. It was delicious! Soft and chewy, VERY rich.

EVERYTHING POP!

Dinner was at Everything POP! food court. They have a lot of variety, so every time we get to try something new.

It comes with white rice on the bottom. I didn't like the beef. It was very tough and bland. I left most of it. The broccoli was good, but there were two or three pieces in my dish. There were also a few water chestnuts in there. I liked how the rice on the bottom had the juices from the stir-fry, but there was a very small amount of the rice.

C had a chili dog. He loved this and was happy that they were offered here because chili is one of his favorite foods.

For dessert, we chose two brownies, a Worms in Dirt chocolate pudding cup, and a package of Barbecue Lay's chips. The two brownies went to the fridge. I had the worms in dirt (chocolate pudding, layered with crushed Oreo cookies, and some gummy worms). The pudding was smooth and thick. It was really good.

Subbing!! I am sitting here with DS5 and we are just drooling!! We are off to Pop next week and you have just sealed the deal for our first meal. We are going to the Food Court for a sundae!!
