12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 3

Nope, the whole standard black shirts/especially those with the Japanese stuff, sueded sneaker thing is by definition skater at his school. He does not consider himself a skater (wears plainer ts) but a couple of his good friends are (and proud of it!)

My problem is I think those sueded sneakers are dressy enough, but I don't know about the basketball type shoes my guys wear. I guess since their dress-up will be more toward the casual, I'll call it good. They'll do the khaki-type pants and button front shirt pretty readily...

Nick's school attire is usually a t-shirt that says "It wasn't me" or "My sister did it, blame her" or "Adult supervision required", jeans and merills. Oh... and uncombed hair sticking straight up and down

The scary think is I see him every day at school. other teachers are always asking where we get soo many appropriate t-shirts for him

Nope, wearing a t-shirt that says something may reveal too much about ourself. We stay in our safe box...none of those little sayings. Old Navy has some nice plain ts.

We do shower and comb our hair these days, (he really has to, he is starting to grow up) but the sweatshirt that goes over the plain t is more often than not dirty, and the same as he wore the day before. (Since it is a coat, you can wear it multiple days in a row, you see? I don't have the middle school handbook so I'm out of the loop here.)

Oh, and the hair sticking straight up would be Kev! Although he chooses his clothes very carefully. Doesn't always put things together the way I would, but he is very deliberate about that.

Sweatshirts in jr high have multiple wears for boys. Sometimes the whole outfit has multiple wearing or they just have multiple copies of the same tee and jeans As a mom that last one might be it too.

I am in the "Loop" since I teach 8th grade. The ONLY good thing about same seatshirts is I am really bad with names and they get a name attached quickly - they don't change each day

DD is also definitely her own person. Crocs every day unless it is gym day and then sneakers, but ONLY because she HAS to. Hates it, though. She prefers stretch pants or the velour track type pants (elastic waist bands). She finally decided jeans are ok, sometimes. Short sleeve t-shirts, even in the cold, though I think she has decided it might be time for long sleeves once in a while. At 10 she is rather more developed then most of her friends the same age and is self-conscious about it so we have arguments about the udnergarments, especially as the only type she wears shows on anything other than a narrow crew neck type shirt. Plus white shirts are "see through" so she is not into those right now unless she doesn't have to wear something under them! sometimes I wonder if a boy would have been easier!!!!

OK, I'm needed to BACK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!

I've got many chores to do today...starting with taking DS14's (Brian's) gear to a friends for his Lacrosse tryout. He is away at a retreat, but was about to skip it for this tryout. A friend whose son was in the same boat knew of someone who lived there (about 1 1/2 hours away) that would grab the boys from the retreat, bring them down for their tryout, do some shopping (we are in the shopping type of area) and then take them back to the retreat when it is over at 3:00. All I have to do is have his gear at the woman's house. So I guess I should do that. I made him pack it up before he left last night, but I don't trust that he has everything he needs, so I need to go check.

Then I need to clean, clean, clean! I need to finish my office, but I'll tell ya, this computer really calls to me when I'm working in here!

I hear you, Sherrena. I have things I need to get to but my head is pounding and I'd rather play on the computer too.

DH just finished cooking breakfast for the girls, and he cleaned up! He is feeling much better but still coughing up some crud. At least he'll be better by cruise time!

Well, I should be off for a while to get dressed, clean up, etc.

She's going for comfort...Kev is like that, so was Bri. We even used to have to cut the tags out of the back of his ts so they didn't itch him. Love those tagless ones they have now! And now she's trying to hide the things she is self-conscious about....as they get into middle school, they pretty much get self-conscious about everything, so get ready....just let her wear what she wants. By the way, I think a lot of girls I see wear crocs all of the time.

yep! Got one of each - boy is easier. DD (now 16) has to have everything perfect and as many as 5 layers perfectly matched. How come she still looks so skinny??? I wear two layers and I look like a hot air balloon. Oh well. She will only wear clothes from Macys, Nordstroms and accessories from Target????? A different sweatshirt, zipup or jacket daily for warmth.

Nick (DS) will wear anything I give him . If he doesn't like it it gets stuffed to the back of the drawer. If it gets small he just stops wearing it and starts wearing the same things daily. No variety. T shirts (long and short sleeve), jeans and merrills. Oh an his concession to winter - a sweatshirt over it all daily.

I found shoes and DD got a pair of vans for causal everyday times. She loves them and has worn them almost everyday for a week - and that's saying a lot for Miss fashion princess.

My shoes are heels my DD and DH encouraged me to buy them now I'm afraid I will look like a 15 yr only in their first pair of heels. Ackward!!!

Nick wears nothing but merils. I should really look for some vans for him too. suede merils just will look funny with him in shorts and a t.

Ooo I love my vans! I have 2 pairs. When I got my first pair they were all I wore too! Still practically all I wear!

Yeah, but your weather is probably more suited to that than ours is!!!!
