Hi All :wave2:, and an early Happy Thanksgiving.

Been busy all week, I tried to check in here and there, Hope I didn't miss anything. That sweet DH of mine is keeping me busy  .

Thanks, Denise. You have a regular week this week up there, eh??? So, that must mean you don't have a "Black Friday". You don't know what you're missing :rotfl: . No standing in lines for you at 4AM, along with 2000 other people, sprinting for ten Play Station 3's. You just don't know what you're missing :teeth: . I am am so sorry you have to turn families away. That MUST be heartbreaking. You need to feel good about all the families (especially the children) you are able to make a difference to. Bless you :grouphug: .

Susan - you are a brave lady heading to the grocery store today. DH went to get his stuff to make chicken wings. I know, chicken wings as an app for Thanksgiving, but my BIL insists on having them after the local football game :confused3 . My SIL is not happy about it either, but I tell her, "talk to your husband, he's the one that insists on DH making them". He said it was quite the mad house at the market when he went down about Noon.

Time for confessions.......I have never made a turkey. I mean, I am 44 years old and have never cooked a turkey. Weird, huh? I guess because I have never had Thanksgiving at my house. The family holiday dinner at my home is Easter and Christmas Eve, which I serve prime rib for both.

So are you making the turkey??? I am 45 and have only done it twice and not in the last 10 rs or so. DD asked yesterday why everyone can't come to our house??? Is she crzy  Wait until she is a little older.

Hugs to anyone who does all the prep to have the family over. I think my 16yr old thinks that *poof* dinner and guest magically appear :wizard: It is a lot of pre work for thanksgiving and I am so glad my aunt wants to do it all. Especially since she is single (always has been) with no kids.

My DH and I use to love to do the christmas shopping early on black friday. We would leave the kids in bed with the other relatives - built in babysitter, and hit our christmas list. The goal was not to come back until the list was complete.

Now their wish lists are much easier to do and for the most part we don't deal ith the "santa" concept and they just tell us what they want. Their wants usually aren't that big.

I am going more to find deals on things we need. I need to find DD a nice shirt or two for the cruise yet, Mom still needs lots of stuff and new locks are a priority. Plus you never know what fun things you might find on sale while you are out shopping. So why not? Sounds like fun to me! :thumbsup2

Been watching all the airport hub-bub about carry-ons and I am getting worried. I know just working myself up but I put my small pieces of my door stuff in a metal tin 6x6 to keep them from bending and to keep from losing them. I was going to put it in my suitcase but now I wonder whether this will get my suitcase openned and gone through. I might just as well put this in my carryon so they can find it easier????

Then again we have several flights will this be a pain in the butt???

Probably concerned about nothing.

****Pass here in WA is looking bad. Hope that Angela or Dee do not plan on traveling over it. We live right at the bottom of it and it is freezing rain here and snowing heavily there. We are going west not east so we are okay. Wishing everyone safe holiday travel.

The last time I flew, which was the beginning of October, the TSA went through ALL of the suitcases. I got a flyer in mine that said the TSA had looked through it and how they went through them all.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)
I make dinner every year and this year it will just be the 5 of us...so I ill be starting dinner in a couple of hrs and heading out shopping while the Turkey cooks than eating and throwing the football outside with the kids. Sorry but it is another warm day here in the wild wild west. :sunny:

Pies are made, so saves me time to go out and shop some...So have a GREAT Turkey or Lasanga day...what ever you may eat or cook. :goodvibes

Thanksgiving is an important holiday for our family because my relatives came over on the "Mayflower" and than a year later on the"Journey". Cool ha :teeth: So we have some special recipies for pies and such that are foods that they had cooked...fun..

Anyway see ya all soon and HAVE FUN SHOPPING!!! I will :cool1:

I saw something on Delta's web site recently that said the TSA is saying please do not use ANY locks these days, not even the TSA ones. :confused3 I have always used those, I prefer to know the things I am carrying will not go missing. So, instead, I will put things I don't want lost in the carryon and have to haul a ton of stuff all over the airports. Oh well. I was going to repack anyway, guess this means I definitely need to do so with an eye towards keeping things together. Hmmmmmmm

Happy Turkey/Lasagna Day!

I've actually never done the turkey either! DH does it! We didn't do one until we moved to Georgia...now he does it every year. But we do it the easy way...no giblets or weird parts, and the stuffing is cooked outside the bird. So basically DH just throws some vegetables into the cavity, oils the skin, and puts it in the oven. No biggie!

Our meal is finished and things cleaned up, MIL sleeping and DH puttering, probably soon to be napping as well. Give people a turkey loaded with triptophane(sp?) and about eight carb-loaded side dishes and look what happens! We're going to the movie in about an hour.

Susan, you must be really organized if your store is so far away...ours is right out the front of the neighborhood! When we go to the beach the nearest grocery store is about 20 miles away, and it causes me to feel so much pressure to be organized to conserve trips! It would probably be no big deal to you!

Robin, where do you shop on Thanksgiving? NOTHING is open here. But the paper was fat with ads and my e-mail is loaded with deals from stores.

It's nice here today, supposed to be better tomorrow. We're getting MIL out for sightseeing tomorrow and Saturday.

Hi Jen!

Are you still there? How are you spending your day?

Visitors are gone, dishwasher is loaded, Mom has signed her Christmas cards. I missed one so have to do the envelope for it and buy stamps tomorrow. She is now watching the news. DD is playing with a friend that came over. DH is out in his shed doing gods know what!

I pulled everything out and tried repacking because of the TSA stuff and people saying lots of bags being opened. I haven't even tackled the dinner time clothes that are hanging in the closet and I am already bordering on insanity!!! I really wish I had a checkable garment bag but just can't afford one right now!!!!! Ugh.

Hi everyone ...glad to here that your day went well. Did not make it out to the mall today because got to busy but Tomorrow I am heading out to paint the town colors!!

Not sure if I am getting up at 5 am for "Black Friday" or not but will hit the stores early. I like getting up and heading out by 7 am, it's fun to shop early with all the people om a mission. :)

So will touch base tomorrow, Have a great day..."LIFE IS GOOD" :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. The cruise is getting so close! We should probably be getting our documents very shortly.

Hi Matt, haven't seen you in a while. Yes, we should have our docs soon, shouldn't we???

I didn't wake up as early as I'd hoped. Gotta eat, shower and get dressed, then off to the craziness! My friend who was going to join me backed out so I am going it alone today. Perhaps that is for the best, though.

Morning--Happy Black Friday! :sunny:

Kat, you'll probably be more efficient out on your own...that way you can dart through small openings and elbow the elderly out of the way unnoticed! ;)

No black Friday for me, MIL needs entertained and she hates it. We used to do it every year before she started coming...have fun! :cool1:

We're taking her out sightseeing today...the good news is I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pick up an ornament....wish me luck! That is my mission for today!
Everyone have a good one!

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Did you practice stuffing yourself like we all will on the ship!!

I cooked yesterday for 12 people. I was up at 7:00 and was so exhausted that I fell asleep shortly after 8:30 p.m. Took DS to emergency room after dinner. He hurt his knee the day before playing football with friends. He can hardly walk on it. They wrapped it and told us to take him to see a sports medicine or orthopedic doctor if it's no better by Monday. They don't know if he messed up his ligaments or not.

Almost done with Christmas shopping. I think I'll do a little more packing today. I'm starting to panic. I can't believe we leave in 3 weeks!!!

Hope everyone who is shopping today does well!! You would never catch me in those crowds!

Judy

I was told to use those tywraps they can be cut off easily and since TSA has to reseal your suit case you can see if someone got into it. We are going to try that this year

Just getting up. Very cold about 37 degrees. Kids and DH out the door to attempt to finish their dives today. brrrr! Thank goodness not me. I will probably do some "click" christmas shopping this morning, then head out and see what I can do to finish the out of town gifts I have to send.

Matt - what a surprise - see you are on the Freedom in July we are on the sister ship Liberty in July!

Happy holidays!

Hi--Brrrr! Susan...

Our mornings were like that a couple of days ago and I would NOT have wanted to go into the water! (It has to be 70 to 80 out for me!) :)

It's nice here, good day to take MIL sightseeing, about 70 degrees. Think I'll wear my Disney crocs...lots of outdoor walking.. :cool1:

Here's what I've decided to do about my gifts. I found some felt gift bags...will pack nicely, can be looked into, but conceal gifts unless someone is determined to look in my luggage...(and my boys really don't like to do that...think they're afraid they'll find my underthings. :rotfl2: ;) ) So I'm putting gifts into felt gift bags. I'm not flying, so I don't think anyone will go through my stuff, but seems like it would work too.
