So who is planning on dressing up for pirate night??? pirate: pirate:

During dinner??

Just after dinner for the party???

I haven't decided yet, will probably base my decision on what others are doing. We are late seating. I know DH WON'T dress up but he's a party pooper like that. If others in the group will I will too so let's start taking a count!!!!!

I am dressing up if I find a really great deal on something after Halloween. Otherwise I will just wear the pirate T-shirt from the last cruise (the one that has sat in my closest untouched since the 2004 cruise  ). My priority for our clothing budget for this cruise really needs to go to formal & semi-formal night for Jimmy & me.

DH refuses to wear a tux. The best I can get him to do for formal night is wear his dark suit with a shirt with french cuffs and cufflinks and a tie. He will wear dress pants, shirt and tie on the semi-formal nights. He just isn't a dress-up person. For that matter, I guess I'm really not either. I have never owned a formal gown in my life (except my wedding dress(es)). Nope, never went to prom, sorry. I have some really flashy pants outfits that I wear for formal nights (velvet pants, sparkly shirts, fancy jackets). I don't have a pirate costume either but will be watching the after-Halloween sales too. MaryAnn, let me know if you find anything!

My DH actually does like to dress up. We never have the opportunity (other than the occasional local charity function) to do so, so I guess we do enjoy doing it when we get the chance.

In 2004 I got Jimmy to rent a tux from the DCL recommendened site. I will try to get him to get one this year. We don't do formal family portraits, so this is the next best thing. I found a really cheap formal gown for last cruise on the clearance rack at Lord & Taylor that needed minor alterations. I am hoping to find a similar deal this time around. If not, that's ok too. But, I will definately try pick up something special to wear. I already found a great silk gold-beaded top (on clearance) from Ann Taylor a couple of weeks ago for semi-formal.

My feeling is; if I can't find something great at a good price, I will make do with what's in my closet :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the pitcures, Holly. I looked through them all. Especially loved the Flying Dutchman & Pirate Night pitcures at CC.

Can I ask; What Cat were you in for you cruise? That cabin looked like it had plenty of room with that porthole view.

haha yeah the dutchman is really cool. and pirate night is my favorite.

i believe we were a cat 4... we usually stay in one of the higher cat so we can fit all 5 of us in the room. but this was a cruise i actually won from a radion station. so we were supposed to have an inside stateroom. but we got upgraded. and the room wasn't bad at all. we were on the second deck. the only thing we didn't like was the morning we got back to fl was hearing them unloading the ship. but other than that it wasn't bad! and that's coming from someone who has stayed in a room that fits 5 people that has a verandah.

ok... i need you to ignore my earlier post i was thinking backwards. it was a category 9 that we were in... our normal category is a 4 :lmao:

OK Denise - so sorry you won't be able to make the cruise :(

Not sure about dressing up on Pirate night - not really my DH's thing but I may find some sort of Pirate/New Romance shirt and where that with some black linen pants to try and blend in LOL

Paul takes two tuxes on the cruise - his cream and his black - we also dress up for Palo's too. I love formal nights!!

KSDTink - I think that the dark suit is fine enough for formal night, not everyone has a tux or wants to go to the trouble of renting one. After all I know that some don't even make any effort, which of course is there want, whatever people feel comfortable in.

Sam, yeah, we saw guys in casual clothes on formal night so the black suit was pretty fancy in comparison. We don't have much occasion to dress up either, but we really aren't fancy dress people. I like to dress nicely for special occasions, but I am one to go for comfort over style any day!

I did try to talk DH into renting a tux for this cruise but he wasn't having any of it and it isn't worth pushing. As it is, he thinks I am nuts for wanting to get up at 3am to do the ressies this weekend!

Hey, Holly or Heidi, how close did the boat rentals at CC let you get to the Dutchman??

Hey, speaking of booking excursions, DH is going to be scuba diving and I don't think DD is going to want to go on some of these so I was wondering if any of the adults were looking at either of these tours:

St Maarten: See and Sea Island Tour - Travel both surf and turf in spectacular St. Maarten on this excusion for the entire family! Get a glimpse of life under the sea in Grand Case as you enjoy an underwater view of the Caribbean aboard the Seaworld Explorer semi-submarine. Then head back to land for a 45-minute stop in the charming French town of Marigot for an afternoon of shopping, sightseeing and fun in the sun.

I think it looks like fun and DD might like the first part but I know the second part would bore her to death!!!!! I don't want to go alone, though!

St. Thomas: Coral World & Island Drive - Discover new worlds on this scenic island tour. Take in the scenic splendor of St. Thomas during an unforgettable drive of the island as you make your way to Coral World Ocean Park. Once there, revel in a glimpse of life below the surface of the sea — without getting wet — at the underwater observatory. Then, head for higher ground and surrender to the island views that only Mountain Top could offer.

Again, not sure that DD will really be into this one, but don't want to go alone. What is anyone else doing on St. Maarten or St. Thomas? Looks like I'll pretty much be on my own both days with DH under water and I definitely want to get out and see the islands and do some shopping but I'd rather go with other DISers than by myself and with our ressie booking date coming up I am getting a bit anxious....

St Lucia I know I am going for the Brig Unicorn and Key West I am going to go do the pirate museum and stuff with DD and then the Flying Monkeys so those two are taken care of. I have no clue about Antigua. Anybody know anything good to do there? I am just not a beach person so if anyone is doing any sightseeing and doesn't mind another person tagging along please let me know!!!!!!!

what boat rentals are you talking about? the jetski thing you get to go right by it. we went right by it on the banana boat too. but if you rent say a kayak (like hayley and i did) or one of the paddle boats you're in a different little roped off section of water that's not the same as the jetskis and banana boats go through

ooo fun excursions. i wrote down a list of all the ones i'm deciding between. granted i haven't looked at it since before the last cruise. and i don't want to pick any out just in case we end up not being able to go. i'm probably going to dive in st maarten (i've toured the island enough i don't think i need to do another one there haha) and st thomas. i haven't yet decided on the other islands. st lucia is going to be the hardest, so many things i want to do!

its times like these where i really love my waterproof camera hosuing for my digital. I will be able to take pictures of the Dutchman while on my watercraft

I have been given my assignment by the family. I am responsible for researching Key West and Antigua. You know the excursions thing. I am in for the meet at the Flying Monkeys. So any of you have any favorites?

Don't know if it will be a favorite (we never done that), but Julia and I are going to do the Butterfly Farm at Key West on our own and then over to Flying Monkeys after I drop Julia back off at Magic.

In Antigua, I may book a day pass at the Allegro Pineapple Beach Resort, also on our own. Last time it was a great day and a beautiful resort. All drinks and food were included. I am going to do a bit more research. I have read on the Cruise Critic boards that the cabs are gouging the tourists for cab fare to/from the port/resort which is about 1/2 hour ride. Something that wasn't an issue last time we went.

DS10 is dressing up for pirate: night since he'd already decided to be a pirate: for Halloween. DD4 is going to re-wear her Tinkerbell costume. We keep trying to get DS13 to dress as Capt. Hook to go along with her, but he is too cool for that.

SWMBO wants to dress up if she can find something or get around to making something by then.

As for me, as a native Pittsburgher, I have a different idea of how to dress on Pirate Night.
