Hey all, I have another newbie question. is it appropriate to ask for pixie dust for non-disney things?? Tomorrow is the big Pella Invitational Swim Meet. We're expecting 300 swimmers and their families. Yesterday it was sunny and 54, the forecast today is for 3-6 inches of blowing snow this afternoon and tonight. :scared: I have 50lbs of hamburger made for walking tacos!! I don't want to eat tacos for months to come. THE SNOW MUST GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
For sure! The idea of these threads is to get to know one another. Lots happens in our lives over a year and sharing, asking for pixie dust or prayers for the good and the bad is very appropriate. Over on the main boards is where personnal messages are discouraged.

John-no worries here, my Greek is REALLY rusty! My pronunciation is awful and like I said, I understand more than I can speak.

I hear ya on the Orthodox faith and politics...it should be about the people not the building, so to speak. It was hard for me to leave the church primarily because being Greek Orthodox is kinda like being Jewish....it's a religion but it's also an ethnicity and a heritage. I really miss the rituals, but then I'm reminded church isn't supposed to be about the rituals. Not to mention, my DH isn't Greek so he can't appreciate it the way I do. Of course, when I'm in Greece, I do go to Greek Orthodox Church and we visit the monastaries, those are amazing unto themselves!

Dining...even though we're from the west coast, my kids adapt to the east coast times quickly and I think early seating is the safest bet for us. I just can't eat at 8:30 in any time zone. But yes, we should see if we can sit near each other!!! I'll send some Ozo to your table. :rotfl:

Tonight I was making sure my reservations were correct and up to date. DCL told me if we paid in full 90 days ahead then we could make reservations for excursions, the spa, Palo and other things. So we are working towards that. They also told me that we did not need to give them our passport info until 75 days out. So I have been busy.

.

What does the "give them our passport info" mean?

Welcome back, Brack! :grouphug: As you can see we have been very busy getting to know each other.

Karen-I was wondering the same thing. Although we do have passports, I thought you didn't need them for '06 sailings? I didn't look, maybe brack's from outside the US, then you'd need to give them that info. :confused3

You don't need passports unless your cruise returns after 12/31/06. We won't need them. Next year we will. We are all rebooking and going again next year, right?

I have found that I get better airfare for Dec by waiting to book until late Aug and usually after the Labor Day holidays. I have gotten as low as $200 from Portland. The most I have paid was last year and I let panic set in because the price of fuel was going ever higher and booked at $340. The fare went down to $260 about a month before we sailed. This year I will probably not be able to get really good fares because we have to fly through Phoenix to pick up DGS, Aaron, and America West is our only choice, I think. They usually don't have decrease in fares from Portland to Orlando. It is "priceless" to get to spend 2 weeks spoiling our little buddy though!

I don't think so, Angie. :( The early 2007 rates don't look very good...even with the low "specials" that DU is giving. This one might be the last for us...at least for our yearly trip.

OK, everyone! If you would like to be linked for dining just contact either myself for early seating, or Angie for late seating. We will send you our confirmation numbers so that you or your TA can call DCL & request that our dining resies be linked. This will allow us to be seated in the same dining room in the same area. :) Just pm or email us for the info.

May have to go every other year instead of every year. :sad1: We'll have to see what the prices are to rebook on board. Or maybe use our points again. I would be very, very sad if I thought this were my last. :scared1:

I'll be very happy to coordinate the late dining hook ups. It is very fun to have a whole section of DISers. :) :Pinkbounc

Hi all--
Thanks for sending the pixie dust my way. The snow has stopped and we only got a couple of inches and no wind. :sunny: The sun is supposed to be out tomorrow and it should all melt, highs in the 40s. The swimmers should all be able to make it safely.

I can't remember if I told you guys that we finally have decided on a resort for before our cruise. We booked at Coronado Springs Resort. All the pictures we've seen look gorgeous and people on the resort thread have been raving about it. It's a little bit smaller room (two double beds) but we'll have more money to spend on "stuff" :flower:

By linking reservations, do we share a table or just sit near each other? I'm interested to see what nights things will be on since it's a new itenerary. I guess we'll have to wait for the first group to find out. Will they be going before it's time for us to make our 90 day reservations at Palo?

Dutch,

The frist group sails in May, so they will be back and reported in by the time our 90 days in September rolls around. Excllent question on the linking of ressie for dinning reasons. Is is depending on number of people, or do they just seat us near others in our link.

Penny

Lisa - we're in for early dining!!

John just said to up to a verandah cabin but not a 3!! and I am sure with the popularity of this sailing they will stay booked.

I just turned the air back on after having the heat on all week!!

I am so glad it's the weekend....this time next week we will be at WDW for the EE preview!!

I am actuallt calling WDW right now to add a night and they are closed???!!! I thought central reservations closed at 11 and dining at 10???? oh well....

you guys...my Haley is almost 1~!!!! She is such a little doll!! We are so lucky....I am finalizing her party plans now...it's a Valentine/heart/rose theme....I can't wait! Even though Haley has no clue Samantha is having a blast picking out the invites/decor, etc!!
Watching an encore of the Nat'l Champ game....Angie I am sure you won't approve.....

This week at work has been horrible...Price Watherhouse Cooper has been holding off issuing our final FY 05 audited financial stmts for various reasons but one of the reasons was up to me to find......I have been beyond stressed and am glad I met my 11th hour deadline at 6pm tonight! I need to tell my boss I need a 3 night DCL cruise!!!

Well I am off to scour the internet for some roses.....bulk....I am having to pay Vday prices for these suckers.....:(

I will take lots of pics of EE!!! and report back!

Hey Penny--
Are you gald it's Friday? :rotfl2: Who isn't? So have you cruised with all these people before, I take it you have. Forgive me if you've already told me, I'm having a hard time keeping everyone straight, even with Lisa's great site.
