We have been away a lot lately (15 days at WDW for Christmas for one) but I have been trying to catch up with this thread.

Tonight I was making sure my reservations were correct and up to date. DCL told me if we paid in full 90 days ahead then we could make reservations for excursions, the spa, Palo and other things. So we are working towards that. They also told me that we did not need to give them our passport info until 75 days out. So I have been busy.

We are looking forward to this cruise; which will be our 6th. Blessings to all.

I keep getting on later, and later, and later . . .

And I keep having to read pages, and pages, and pages . . .

I hate trying to guess how many pages and posts we will have by December.

Lisa W. - I look forward to trying to speak some Greek while on the cruise - that would be fun. My Greek just keeps getting rustier, and rustier and rustier. While we belong to our Orthodox Church here, we do not attend often . . . It is really tough. DW has never felt comfortable in the church 100%, as she was raised Lutheran. It is my boyhood church, but the only fond memories for me of that was my time as an altar boy. We attended more regularly when my DS was an altar boy too - but now he is at college. My DM always wanted me to become a priest. My family was of meager means growing up, and there were many of much more means than that at the church. I always felt like a kind of "second class" citizen. Since I had no Greek friends growing up, I also kind of rebelled against my ethnicity to fit in at school. I grew up in a lower middle class neighborhood that all the ethnic people moved out of when they became successful. We lived in the house my dad's parents lived in.

These days, I love the Orthodox faith, and value my heritage, but I find it difficult to deal with the politics that happen with the people inside a church building. I attend when I can, I especially attend Easter and all of Holy Week. We are thinking of switching to the other Greek Orthodox Church in town, but it is a tough decision for me because of the good memories I do have. DD's Godparents are from the other church, as were mine. It's kind of a funny thing, but I feel closer to my faith, by not interacting a lot with the congregation of my church. BTW - we always spelled it yaya, and papou. Go figure.

I badly want to go to Greece, but the timing has never been right to do it. My dad's family was from Lefkatha, and island close to Athens. My Mom's family was from a village in the central part of Greece.

I saw that you guys were dining early too, and if that does not change, maybe we can get on the same dining rotation and nearby. We are currently linked with Lisa G's family, and have enjoyed dining with them the last two cruises. I do know, however, that a lot of the W. Coast people prefer the later dining.

Thanks for the info Lisa G on the letter. I can always hope to try and get a better deal. I really like the photo on the web site of the terminal. It is so funny that there are a lot of details in that picture that I have NEVER noticed! I am always in too much of a hurry to get INSIDE to even look around or notice. Lisa, do you think DU can tell us the chances of getting DIS'ers who are on the same dining time in the same rotation and nearby each other? And, BTW (by the way) I would NOT drive in DC unless you absolutely had to. PJ is right - the train to Union Station would be a much better bet, and Union Station is a really neat place too. From there the Metro can get you just about anywhere.

Well, that's my catching up for the day. Still haven't done a thing with that CD that came in the mail. Good night all, and over to you West Coast. :wave2:

Hi all! Just an FYI you can now book your airline tickets! I just got done going on line buying ours. We are flying on Delta for $310.70 from Ca to FL. That seemed like the best price. I will call DCL tommorw and cancel my air with them. They are chaging me $570.15 per. preson. :scared1:

Oh the thread killer is back on board.........or maybe it's just a little late...I am sure Lisa W. may show up at some point....

Have spent the last few days explaining how great DCL is and how "relaxing" it is. This last vacation in December was one of the best I have been on.

Weather in So Cal...High sixties with beautiful sunsets. Evenings--cool 40's and crisp. Good fireplace weather...if we had one.

Good morning everyone. I hope you all have a great day. It is cold today! There is ice all over my car. I'll have to scrape it and drive carefully to work today. I have poker night tonight with some friends from church so Ill talk with you all tomorrow.
Mark :wave2:

Good morning everyone! I have added something to the website for linking dining reservations. I am waiting for one more thing to be confirmed and then I will let you know what to do if you want to link up with everyone. :)

John, one of our tablemates, Dora, is also Greek, she grew up very traditionally - anyway, she was very excited because on our last night of the 12/10 cruise our server told her that there is a rumor that soon DCL will offer a cruise which will include Greece! :cheer2: :cheer2: more Rumors

GoofyFD- Delta wouldn't let me book yesterday, But I can today!!!!! We are getting it from washington for $298.00. It went up $10.00 from yesterday but oh well. My kids were glad when I told them about the t.v.s in the back of each seat, and then I talked to a delta rep yesterday and he said that was only on song flights. Then why do they say on there web sight that they have it? why doesnt it say only on our partner flights by song? go figure.

It snowed here last night again, (just when it was really feeling like spring) We got about an inch and a half. My DS S went sledding at 6:30 am this morning. Then off to school. Well I am now debating on staying 8 or 10 days at the world. I keep thinking I want to have time to relax and see more and do everything. well I want to go check out the other threads before I go to W class again today. I still have to catch up on ten pages here thoe. see ya. Mum of two pirates

It is 50 degrees and cloudly here in Toronto, tonight though, we will be below 30 degrees and in a snow Storm, they are saying Texas is sending it our way, Thanks much, lol.

Hey I tried to book airfare, or a least see airfares, they only include up to the 15th of December, so I will try again today, but will most likely hold out for Jet Blue from Buffalo, it is about 50% cheaper than flying from Toronto. And with a having to be at YYZ three hours before flight, and only one hours at BUF (with a 1.75 drive) the time difference is a wash.

Penny

PS. Lisa great idea for the dinner linking, It looks like I might have tablemates, Hi Brack

Hey all, I have another newbie question. is it appropriate to ask for pixie dust for non-disney things?? Tomorrow is the big Pella Invitational Swim Meet. We're expecting 300 swimmers and their families. Yesterday it was sunny and 54, the forecast today is for 3-6 inches of blowing snow this afternoon and tonight. :scared: I have 50lbs of hamburger made for walking tacos!! I don't want to eat tacos for months to come. THE SNOW MUST GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight's weather forecast--cold...for So Cal..high to mid 30's. I may have to trade my flip flops for tennis shoes.....the horror.
