Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

What's the latest scoop on hotels at Cocoa Beach. We've always stayed at the Radisson and while never had a real bad experience I can't say they were "great". The rooms just seem to be really showing their age. Anyone have any other hotels to recommend? We've thought about Ron Jons...not sure it is worth it for just one night. But they do have that lazy river, right? hmmm....

Appreciate any ideas or suggestions. But only ones for Cocoa Beach. We like to be real close to the port.

TIA

How far is Cocoa Beach from the port? Is the area close enough where it would be economical to rent a taxi to the port? We also thought about renting a car....depends how late our flight gets in on Friday. Is there a car rental agency at the port?

I would think it would be expensive to take a taxi, but there are car rental agencies there with shuttle service to the cruise ship. Budget is one that does one way rentals. A towncar service is another way folks get there or of course DCL bus. How economical each is depends on the number in your party. DCL is $60 per person rt, we got a 12 person van for 11 of us in 2003 for right at $400 rt. (DCL was 50 each at that time) That saved us about $250. A rental car would be even a lot less.

Sailing out of Port Canaveral you have transportation from the airport to the port area - either straight to the boat or to a Cocoa Beach hotel, which is near the port. If you stay in the port area the night before the cruise, you have transportation in the morning to the port. From Cocoa beach to the port is an easy taxi ride - about $10 - 15.

There are several car rental agencies in Cocoa Beach and there is no drop off charge from the airport making it a very inexpensive and easy alternative. The drive is very very simple. Several have free shuttles to the port.

Many people rent a car at the airport the day before the cruise, drive over to Cocoa Beach, then in the morning have one person drop everyone off at the port with the luggage, drop the car of at the rental, then take the free shuttle back.

Thank you so much for the great info! I know we still have time but I like to plan in advance!

Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving yet? They are calling for snow at our house on Thursday.

I envy those of you who are going on a cruise next month. I have a feeling the winter is gonna be a bad one. Taking a cruise soon sounds heavenly.

ps - I can be hired out as a nanny if anyone needs one on their cruise!!! ;) ;)

Well, Have a happy Thanksgiving. I know I have so much to be thankful for!

Take care y'all. I probably won't be out here much tomorrow or Thurs.

Reading this made me chuckle...you're expecting snow and we're trying to decide if we should put our shorts away yet or leave them out....it was 80 today!!!! :sunny:

We just returned from Disneyland and it was 84 on Monday!!!!! We had a wonderful time. We meet are friends that will be with us on this cruise. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
God bless,
Mark :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

May your family and friends travel safely and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American Cruisers!

Ps. I am still looking for a group to dine with, maybe a couple of families, I am quiet, a listener really. Very patient with children. There maybe be two of us in my group, but i really don't want to get stuck with strangers, it would be nice to be with people I have gotten to know a little before hand. I would be willing to switch meal times, wasn't a big deal for me in the first place.

Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

Guess what? Some of my girlfriends, my sister, and I decided to take a "Ladies-only" cruise on RCCL this Jan. We couldn't help it! SWA was $39 each way to Orlando and the 4-day cruise was $279 per person -- and that was for two people per cabin! I've tried to plan this several times and the stars are just lined up this time. I know my sister and I (who have been on several Disney Cruises) will be Disney-snobs and compare everything to DCL.

Anyone shopping on Black Friday???

What ship jwann? Dh and I hopefully will be on the Explorer the end of May!

Everyone going Dec 10th (I know there are a few of you) have a GREAT trip!! :cloud9:

Thanks! There are four families that I know of going in two weeks. I really hope that they get things rolling along better in Costa Maya before we go next year. I have been reading the trip reports & thinking that might turn into another sea day for us even though the ship wont be moving. ;)

If you do get off the ship let me know how it was as we will be going in January. A friend of mine wants to take an excursion to the ruins, but I 'm going to try to see if going at it alone, especially with a little one, would be a better way. TIA

We are going on an Eastern in 2 weeks so no stop in CM for us. I meant for this cruise next 12/9. :)

I knew this, I really did. :teeth:
My two year old (ok, almost 3, but i don't want to lose my baby!!) loves to sit with me at the computer and gets very excited when she sees the picture of Cinderella. That is what she was for Halloween and can't wait to meet her again, this time dresed just like her! She says she wants to look just like your daughter. :flower:

Just think - one year from now and we will be so excited we will hardly be able to contain ourselves!!!

Can I ask some advice...we currently have 1 cabin for us and 1 for my parents. Long story short - we probably won't be taking our parents so now I'm considering transferring that other cabin and having 2 Cat. 6s. They would have to be connecting so we could put kids in one and DH and myself in the other. I have a request in for a quote - and my estimate is approx. 1700 more for 2 cabins vs. one. My kids will be 7 & 9...2 boys...

Any serious thoughts?
