"Lost" lost me last year and I'm not going back.

We watched "Akeelah and the Bee". It was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C.
I was wondering if that was any good. I have that on my netflix queue.

Good grief!!! That is more than a bit excessive. I am wondering what kind of problems they had to make them put those codes into place. :confused3 They even tell the girls the maximum length of their hair? Sorry but if they keep it neat looking, it is none of the school's business how long their hair is.

No real problems . . . just very conservative people who want to keep it that way.

We used to be afraid to go to that district as kids . . . we used to think the Klan or someone like that was in charge over there.

I go to DC once a year now to lobby Congress on school stuff.

I have the greatest time in my free time going around DC.

You now have to get tickets for the White House tour WAAAAY in advance because they have to do some kind of security check on you. It is usually slow in DC in February, so I do not have to deal with many crowds.

Last year, I did three Smithsonian museums, the National Archives, and the Washington Monument all in a morning - to afternoon self-tour. It was a whirlwind tour, but I really enjoyed it!

I am one of those that is in real awe when I am there, and I think about the history and everything that went into making our great country.

The Vietnam memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the new WWII memorial all give me goosebumps.

My cousin lived right outside of the city for a few years. When I would go and visit her we would take the subway thingie into the city if it was a week day. On a weekend day you could drive right in and park. It was amazing how few people would be there on the weekend.

I am starting to feel like Caroline now . . .

Late night responding to posts all by myself - no one else around . . .

Is that a "Caroline"?

John1

That just doesn't sound as good as being a "John." ;)

It is amazing! I will be sad when the cruise is over. I will miss you guys!

I thought about this today. I doubt that it will be the same with another group. Lisa, can your magic powers allow us to keep this up if we want to after the cruise for as long as we want?

I talk to you guys more than my extended family these days.

Oh boy, it is really raining outside now!

BTW - can't sleep yet because dinner was Wendy's drive thru at 10:00 - great for the challenge!

I really want to see DH on ABC.com...but since I have dial-up it just isn't possible. I still can't believe I missed that show.

Brandi,

Why is your DH on TV? Is he now famous?

I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way. DS wants to be an alter boy but they have to be in 5th grade so he has a little while to go. The other day I wondered how I would react to DD wanting to do that. It goes against my comfort level for girls to be alter servers...as well as lay people. We didn't have that when I was growing up in the Church.

In Orthodoxy you don't need to worry about that. Still doing things pretty much the same for almost 2000 years. No girls participating in that way at all. Our liturgy has been unchanged for I think over 1000 years!

All that has changed is that it is in Greek AND English -instead of only Greek. Oh, and BTW - No one wears jeans to church - all suits, ties, and mostly dresses. Until I went to another church as a young adult, I thought everyone went to church that way!

John1

Ugh! DH and I were discussing how to do the heating and cooling for the addition. There is no easy answer... He has piled so many things onto his plate and he is the type who likes to get it done NOW. Well, he thinks he is anyway. I keep telling him the the addition can wait. I know it will anyways. ;)

I'm not going to comment on the dress code although you all can probably guess where I stand but the book banning issues.........growing up, I read everything I could get my hands on, including the alphabetical encyclopedias. I love to read and I would hate to think that one of my girls would not be able to check out XX book because it was banned from the school library.

Our church is very laid back with dress code. Some people are really strict others are more relaxed. I never wear jeans (neither do my kids or DH) but there are some that do. That is fine with me. I really don't think God is concerned with your attire...KWIM?

Desperate Housewives!

I know . . .

I figured it out a couple of days ago on another one of our posts.

Just being silly.

I'll be sad when the cruise is over as well.....:( Maybe we can all hook back up in '08?

Boy, it is raining buckets outside!

Be ready those of you in PA - you'll probably get it in the morning!

John1

clear skies here....although it rained during the day.

Work is so stressful right now. 09/30 is our fiscal year end - audit starts 10/1 and goes usually until December. With a new CFO, I envision it going longer......one day at a time, I am only one person ---- that's what I keep telling myself.

Thanks for the responders to my last post. I am married and have two little girls - Dani, the six year old and Emily, a 3 year old. I'm an RN in an ER and very much in need of a vacation. This Disney cruise is my first cruise. I'm also very much a novice at computers. I have never chatted before online. So, I'm looking forward to getting to know you Disney experts.

One of the things I'm hoping to have time for while on the cruise is sitting on a lounger and reading a good book. Any recommendations?
