I am getting Eliza Bitty Baby for Christmas. I am currently looking at their sale stuff....yikes....but hey I would rather get an outfit for $12 instead of $25.

If you are OK with unofficial Bitty Baby/American Girl stuff, be sure to look around at craft fairs and similar events, where you can find vendors selling their handmade outfits for the dolls, usually for very good prices.

We are watching Mulan. I hope Jake doesn't have nightmares from those creepy huns!

Brack, I love the original Dune . . . I bought the first book of the new series, but just could not get into it . . . should I give it another try?

Other Favorite "series" authors . . . (SF and Fantasy)

Tolkien
Heinlein
Terry Brooks
Stephen R. Donaldson
Terry Goodkind
Robert Jordan
Arthur C. Clarke
George RR Martin
and, of course,

Rowling (anxiously awaiting the new Harry Potter)

It does get better. :thumbsup2

Another author I like is Harry Harrison "Stainless Steel Rat" series. It's a bit like SF pulp fiction.

Yup, read him too Brack.

There is not much of Classic SF that escaped me as a young man. I have read a LOT of SF . . . Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, on, and on, and on . . .

I absolutely LOVED SF, and still do read some when I find an author I like again . . .

The last great series (that I forgot about) that I read was the ENDER novels by Orson Scott Card.

When you posted your lists last night, I immediately thought "He has to try Orson Scott Card and the Ender books!!"

Good morning everyone! Well...it is past midnight so technically. I worked 9 am to 1 am yester I guess you would have to say. :) Glad to be going to bed but only after enjoying a bowl of double churned light chocolate ice cream. :)

Brandi, I forgot to answer you but I do transcription online. the company that I work for is not hiring right now but I will let you know when they open it back up again. I lucked into this one. I know that it is very hard to find legitimate businesses online.

The kids and I had a nice lunch outside in our backyard. They were in their little pool and I was enjoying watching them splash around.

I am currently trying to get them to take a nap. Liza is not having it!!!!

You folks must all be having a busy morning.

Loved 'em! :thumbsup2

Currently reading "Dune - The Machine Crusade" by Brian Herbert and Anderson (don't remember his first name). I like it because it fills in history from the original. Here the Atreides and Harkonen are friends. It's a good read so far. I just don't take time to read it ..... or anything else. :sad2:

I have 61 things listed on ebay....I dread the packing and shipping next week!!!

It has been hot, hot, hot here! Now remember Oregonians are accustomed to weather ranging 30 degrees to 80 degrees. Anything below or above that is not bearable! Over 100 yesterday! Whew! I have not been outside yet today nor have I heard any reports. (too busy getting hollered at!) :scared:

Sophia loves Bitty Baby. I can't remember when we got her for Sophia but I know Sophia was not very old. Didn't even want to name her just wanted to call her Bitty Baby and that is still what we call her.

We have bought her another American Girl Doll but she still loves Bitty Baby!

Today Alex got confirmation of his financial aid for medical school . . . they budget out the year for them, and then they find them the combination of loans and grants that they need to meet the budget. His total aid package is $52,000 - about $44,000 in loans, and the rest in grants and scholarships:eek:

This includes the about $30,000 in tuition, books, fees, etc., with the balance being living expenses - he already has the place rented he is sharing with two other students, and now we are getting him a new vehicle because a car is a necessity for this school.

I am thankful that he is going into something that will repay those loans - otherwise I would definitely be :scared1: !

$44,000 in loans for 1 yr :scared1:

i don't even want to see the student loan payment once those go into repayment. i thought my mortgage was bad....

i worked with one girl whose husband went to Harvard Law school. His loans totally something liked $240,000 when he was done and his loan payment was $2,500 a month...

Well an update on DD... We went to pick her up tonight. Was she discharged?.....Nope, insurance refuses to pay for her treatment even with the Doctor recommending she stay.

and why do i have to pay for crappy insurance you say?

So tomorrow i have to strangle people untill they cough up paperwork that i'm turning in to the attorney general's office and have the turds investigated.

They actually had the gall to say she was turned down because she wasn't trying to kill herself and was following the rules. DUH...that wasn't why she was there in the first place.

I've already talked to one of our county commissioners...(We just got switched to this insurer a few days ago on July 1) and the CC agrees that getting help shouldn't be this hard.

Right now she has no outpatient treatment lined up. I have to make phone calls and pray tomorrow.

pray.gif
Please god, please don't let me choke the living crap out of those who oppress me.

United Healthcare will regret messing with me...:rolleyes1

I don't know who to pray for more ..... you or United Healthcare!

I'll choose you 'cause I like you.

I hope everything works out.
