12/09/06 Cruise Continued ~ Pirating Bananas DIS Geekorama Part 2 Part 2

Good Morning everyone!

We'll take some pictures today and Lisa or I will try to get them posted.

We are staying at Atlantic Beach NC (actually Pine Knoll Shores - same island). Down the island is also Emerald Beach. We have been coming here since our son was 3 (he is now 19, and could'nt make the trip due to college). Two cruises ago on the cruise meet thread, we saw that Lisa lived less than an hour from here, so we did a meet with the kids here at the beach, and this is now the third year we have gotten together at the beach.

Lots of fireworks around here this weekend, as the "America's Sail" tall ships were in Beaufort (about 10 minutes away). We decided to just stay at the Beach and not fight traffic. We could see the fireworks from Atlantic Beach in the distance, but the people staying here at our townhouse complex bought a whole bunch of fireworks and were shooting them off at the beach. They were really nice, but Lisa and the kids ducked for cover because the strong ocean breeze was blowing the embers right over everyone's heads! One guy shot off a display that I swear was the size of a case of pop, that shot off several really nice fireworks all in sequence.

Yes Karen, Cruise is at 5 months.

I would use some sick time but i need it for mid-January.

I am planning on having some internal work done at that time. Most people need about two weeks off so that sick time will be accounted for.

I hope this rain stops soon. You really don't want to have to pump your basement again, right.

I was sitting here at the desk just listening to what had to be one of the loudest rain downpours!!! I do not want to go home!!!! Hmmm.... ain't no pump gonna get all that water out.

My car blew the head gasket on Sunday. It has over 140 thousand miles. My husband decided that it was now dead. We went to a dealership last night and bought a van. Now I am the proud owner of a Dodge Caravan. Ten years ago I never would have know that I would own a VAN!

That is so funny! We also thought we would NEVER drive a minivan, now we have TWO!! DH has a Kia Sedona and I have a Saturn Relay. Too many GKs! We got tired of taking two cars when we wanted to take them all somewhere.

I was on jury duty last year. I got picked for a case and had to go back. The only upside was that we were only there for half days. I missed a whole day of work but only had to be at the court house for a half day. It was brutally boring (only my opinion.)

OhOhOh - I almost forgot to tell you...I bought a pair of purple crocs!!! They are the beach kind. They are so ugly! I love them!!! My Dh said that if you are going to buy ugly shoes you should make them bright! I feel a bit like a geek in them but I really do like them! I will have them on the cruise!

Brandi - there is an ice cream place "Brewsters" that does a free extra scoop if it is raining. They have great ice cream. I met Kristina and her family there a few weeks ago.

Brandi - I have a yellow pair of sandals - banana yellow - great!!! and a tan pair of the regular. THEY ARE THE BEST!!
