John, love the mac shirt at Sophia's party.

I have had one heck of a week, but after traveling 24 hours straight, I finally got home today at 2 p.m. I was supposed to be home Thursday night about midnight. Atlanta was really scary.

Have you ever done something so stupid you don't realize how stupid you were until it is all over? I am not suprised by my behavior, but I am suprised by my total inability to admit I have lmitations.

I had incredible pain last Saturday and Sunday, but it was Steve's Birthday and Sunday his family was coming over and I thought I was just having back pain and I was being a woos. Anyway, I just took 800 mill ibuprofen every 4 hours for 2 days (also really stupid) and by 4 a.m. Monday morning, after not sleeping for 3 days I was worse and because I did not want to wake Savannah up, I went to the hosiptal by myself. (also stupid) Anyway, takes the dr about 5 minutes to decide he knows what is wrong, hooks me up to an I.V. and starts Morphine. ok, I feel better, but then people come to get me for CT scans and make me sign stuff... (should have called Steve before the morphine) and I have a Kidney Stone. So from 4-10 I do the morphine and other drugs to break up the stone thing and they call steve (gee, I should have done that) who has to come pick me up. They frown on people driving while sedated.

So Steve takes me home I sleep until noon. Then I get even dumber and I went to work until 2 then drove to the airport. They gave me really heavy duty pain pills, which I did I got take until I got on the steps of the airport shuttle bus. I flew to Ft Lauderdale and got there about midnight. I took pain pills as directed every 4 hours all night until I got up and went to meetings for 3 days. 2 of the days heavily sedated.... I cannot even believe I am writing this.. Can you believe I seriously did this? We had one bus ride to dinner with the whole group and the bus driver got lost so it took us an 1 1/2 to get to the restaurant and my pain pill wore off and I was in tears... Astounding. I am so stupid!

Anyway, that's for everyone who needs someone to make them feel better about thier decisions today. Just look at my fabulous choices.

Kim

My goodness Kim! WOW!

Is everything OK now?

And, BTW, I get more comments on that T-Shirt than any other shirt I own. Positive or negative it really gets people talking!

:scared1: KIMOMG!!! I can not believe that you were even able to drive. After seeing Carl's two stones situation - you must have been in unbearable pain. You poor thing. DON'T EVER EVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!Ok, I said it! :goodvibes Remember the airline mantra "put the mask on yourself first" Of course non of us would ever think to do that - would pass out and be of no use to the people we are protecting.

Thank you ...Talk about pushing the Byte limit on DIS ...I think I may have only a few hundred left out of 50,000 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pirate:
LOL Todd. So good to see you here!!! I am so glad that you went to Buffalo for the peace it gave you, although it must have been so disconcerting. Please come visit us when you can more - although we realize you have a busy "cruise" posting social schedule.

For those who have cruises coming up...

Maybe this is old news to everybody, but I called DCL to reserve a cruise today and the CM asked me which dining time I wanted. I responded late and he then asked if I would like 8, 8:15, or 8:30. I asked if it's always been like that and he said no, you used to only be able to pick early or late. I was able to request a specific time for our December cruise too.

I thought it was great to be able to select which time.

Looks like changes are about...

Kim

Hope you are doing better, Kim. Atlanta was scary? The rest of your week sounds like the really scary part! :guilty:

Take Care!!:grouphug:

My dad talked to me about that and my first thought was of Angie and good grief did she have to fight for people in these conditions?

Our facility is relatively new. We moved in Feb 1988, so having a place that is run down has not been an issue with us....well, not since 1988 anyway. :rolleyes1 Our issue is having staff to take care of them and the problem is not budget, it is available resources in the area and competing with the community hospitals for the available docs, nurses, radiology techs, pharmacists, etc. Our poor veterans here will wait up to a year for a hip replacement and that is after they finally get to see the ortho docs. Same for hernia surgeries, 4-6 months for an MRI, no colonoscopies unless there is a positive stool card (isn't that too late??) Welcome to socialized medicine. Pay attention to how you vote, you may get what you wish for. Ok, off my soapbox.

Angie,

I hope this whole situation gives you all some badly needed funds. How sad a state for those who have done so much. Breaks my heart. The greatest generation.... they deserve a lot more.

It's more than funding here, it's no professional people to hire even if we had more money. We finally hired an Orthopedic surgeon. We have not had one for 6 years, we have been "borrowing" from the University Hospital, thus the terrible wait time. Hopefully this will help us catch up in ortho a little. We have money to send the folks out into the community to get some of the stuff done, but the community can't obsorb them either. :confused3 Medical resources in this area are just in short supply.

Did you guys know that Dody took the beautiful photo of the pirate ship at Castaway Cay that is being used for our banner on the 5 nite DD cruise in Sept. 2008. It's a beautiful photo that she shot from Topsider's.

Anyway just wanted to share that because congrats are in order!!!

Elaine,

Can you post it so that we can see it?

Is this post 72727? ;)

Does that count as a pirate: these days since we don't have near as many as we used to! :goodvibes

Hey guys!!

Lisa - glad you guys made it through the storm and congrats to Mike on the promotion.

Becka - hope you got out those bonuses....!! And your headache went away.

Todd - glad you were able to meet family and make your peace.

John & Amy - keeping warm are you?

Kim - ARE YOU NUTS? Hope you are doing better....MUCH better.

We just got back from ESPN "THE" Weekend....what a good time. We spent Friday and Saturday at MGM and got autographs from:

Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers)
Ben Roethlisberger
Herschel Walker
Dave Robinson
Sheryl Swoops
Mike Metzger
Howie Schwab
John Kruk
Mark Schlereth --- HOT!
Sal Palentonio (had on a Yacht Club jacket)
Killer - #31 from the Harlem Globetrotters - AKA the "Mickey Head Guy"

and.....

Quincy - from Little Einsteins of course, and the Green Army Man and Pink (she rocks) Power Ranger....:)

Hands down, Mike Metzger is the most approachable, most friendly and just down to earth guy. We saw him and his family last year...he is always with his wife and two children....and he will stay just that bit longer to give an autograph or picture. And is extremely well spoken. We did notice the older the athelete -- or more seasoned - the more time they took or spoke with the fans. What ruined things were the guys with bags of balls, helmets, etc. When most guys saw that, they immediatley left. We did see Vinateri take some batting practice and throw some footballs with the kids... very cute.....was lots of fun, Friday was much much better than Sat.

Today we went to AK...and Samantha rode Everest for the first time..."mom, can we go again?" was all I heard. We also saw the new Nemo musical...it was FANTASTIC....really really good...even though the wait is a bit rough and the show is a good 40 minutes.
