I am making a photo book on shutterfly of our Christmas Pics. I got a free one for joining their money saving club. It is more fun to make than I thought it would be!!!!

This thread has been so quiet!!! Where is everyone????

I hear rumors that the late 2008 dates will be released at the end of January, that's right this month!

Pj

I think that the Captain knows a little more about that than the people answering the phone in FL. ;)

BTW...love your new sigie picture! :) It looks more like you.

SO where are we going in 2008? and i agree with John that it would be nice to push it away from end-of-year and xmas...

Morning all, for anyone interested AP rates have been released through March....just booked All Star Movies for ESPN weekend.

The week after Thanksgiving would be the earliest that we would go in 2008. We like cruising in December when the ship is decorated for the holidays and the rates are lower for us.

I think that everyone is recooperating from a busy month. I have started making a list of things to do differently this year. I didn't bake one single thing over the holidays...no time. This year I am going to bake cookies and freeze them before we leave.

Trouble is that after this year, DD will be in HS. Much harder for her to miss a full week of school off... (Don't even ask the trouble were having now trying to get all work made up and tests retaken. Most teachers are making her miss her lunchtime because they don't stay afterschool) In our HS, most all classes are on a two semester schedule; so one week missed is more like two-three weeks missed under a ES-type year long schedule.

Now I have thought of a turkey day cruise cause that would only be two days off from school (three from work; bonus) but i know more $.

But gotta weigh the +/-'s

We all don't have 6 yo's....

I'm game for whenever except September and early October....that's fiscal year end for me.

In 2008 we would be limited to summer (June - mid August) and then maybe the week of Thanksgiving - first week of December. Work issues prevent us from traveling most of the year and then of course we still have school to consider even thought DS will only be a 1st grader.

Same problems here. DD's high school next year is on a block schedule/semester class (so you are only taking 4 classes at a time, but cover the whole year of material in a semester). (Both the private school she will attend and our public school use this, so that does not make a difference.)

And DD did a lot of homework on the cruise, and checked online for additional assignments, and still has run into a couple of problems with teachers who did not tell her about something she missed. Oh, you didn't know the rough draft counted toward the grade... because I didn't give you that information to turn in a rough draft while you were gone? No rough draft handed in, no points.

DH's pirate costume that I ordered last week just got here!!! :) One more thing to pack away with the other costumes. I had just gotten him the poet shirt last year so I didn't think about adding anything else this year. When he went to get ready on pirate night he asked if that was everything. Now he has a cool vest and jacket along with some other things for a complete outfit.

I am glad that the kids are home because I am able to stop cleaning. DH & I have been attacking the clutter & dust all day. He worked downstairs and I tackled upstairs. It always feels good to end up with a dirty dust cloth and a full bag of trash to put outside after you have been cleaning. :)

They have a cure for that. ;)

:lmao:

Wow, I don't think I would like that whole year done in one semester thing! It's bad enough when they have double classes twice a week in the HS. It would never work around here. DDs have had no problem catching up. Most people here have to take their vacation during the school year since we are a summer vacation area. The schools know this and are very lenient with it. I am sure when Sarah gets to HS she may run into a teacher or two who may shake their heads about it though. The biggest reason I don't bother finishing my degree to teach is that I don't want a full time job that would make it hard to get away with the kids. I'll stick with subbing (if I ever get that application in:rolleyes1
