Don't say that PJ!!!:scared:

That probably depends on being able to combine different types of credits. Now that you say that, you can't get the onboard credit plus the Disney Visa credit. If DU's offer is a rebate it might work. I will email John and check. :)

Here are the terms & conditions straight from the DU site....

* 2008 Sailings Shipboard Credit - Terms and Conditions: Valid on all cruises booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel between now and January 31, 2007. Travel must be completed 1/1/2008 though 12/31/2008. Shipboard credits are based on room type/category at time of booking. Shipboard credit offer applies only to reservations where the reservation has been made and the deposit has been paid, between now and January 31, 2007. This offer cannot be combined with any other shipboard credit or discount offer from Dreams Unlimited Travel including, but not limited to, those associated with group space or previous rebate and/or shipboard credit promotions. This offer can be combined with the Disney Visa shipboard credit promotion if available and with the discount/shipboard credit from onboard bookings. This offer cannot be applied towards any active reservation booked, or any reservation priced, through Dreams Unlimited Travel prior to January 31, 2007.

I am not sure about the wording though. You would have to have it in DU's hands by 1/31/07 but they can't have it before that date. :confused3

Lisa, it looks like you could make a transfer of a perviously Onboard Booked Cruise, different date, and combine OBC and DU BC. But then the last sentence does not make sense if you go back and read the first line.

I asked John about that & the fact that the deposit has to be paid to DU by 1/31/07. It looks as though it is only valid that day. Perhaps it is an error. ??? I asked him to post the response on the main board to let everyone know.

Lisa,

I sent an email to DU asking them specifics about transfering and I got a very good reply. Am I allowed to post that reply here?

Ok Liz just realized for the Repo cruise she will be old enough for The Stack but still young enough for Ocean Quest:thumbsup2

I JUST figured out what I am going to do . . .

I have TWO onboard booking reservations!

One for 12/8/07, and one for a "dummy" January date in 2008. I plan to cancel BOTH.

I think I will give DU control of the 2007 booking, and I will call Disney myself trying to get a room first thing on the 31st with the 2008 booking. Let the best man win! I don't think Disney will prevent me from doing this, so it's all good!

The only downside is that I am immediately giving up my 12/07 booking, but at this point, that is a foregone conclusion.

That morning, I will be in Washington DC, getting ready to leave for the airport, so I have time on my hands.

I have to pat myself on the back for thinking of this! I am a genius!

a pirate??? but not so lucky.
It's like old times, with several going for the mini pirate!

I have spoken with someone at DU and this is basically what they told me so I am passing it on to you. Please trust that this is a very reliable source. I took notes.

The basic answer is yes – any reservation booked or transferred to DU is automatically eligible for their current promotion. Anyone who books with them or transfers to them will get that SBC.

Folks can transfer their reservations now and have DU take care of switching these to a new sail date on 1/31 or they can do it themselves and switch it at that time.

If you want DU to do it for you, you have to authorize them to make the change beforehand without getting a price first. Remember what happened the last time? People asked for pricing which they provided then they wanted to switch an existing cruise reservation to that booking but DCL wouldn’t let them. Then when DU tried to move the existing cruise in they found the rate had changed and the price went up. DU wants to avoid that happening this time so they are asking all their clients to either authorize the change upfront or acknowledge that the quote they provide may not be valid for a transfer later that day.

If someone is able to get up and be on the phone when these are released, they might be better off doing the switch to the repo cruise themselves then transfer to DU later that day when they have exactly what they want.

I hope this helps to reassure people and avoid problems down the line.

So John, what cat are you going to try for?

Price, Price! I need to know at least the ballpark!

Cat 8 minimum, but I would like to consider a higher category. I look at this as kind of a "once in a lifetime" cruise, and a verandah sure would be nice. On the other hand if the premium for a Verandah is 2X the cost, we will stay with the 8.

Poor John, cruising with three ladies. Check your PM, lol.
