I made a long trek to my mom's today to go to a Dr. appt with her. It is a 2 1/2 hr drive each way, then the doc and lunch with my sis. Long day. My mom is 81 yo and has been having pain across her chest and down her right arm for months. Her provider (NP) has run every test they can and everything is negative. Treadmill - great. gallbladder - no stones and the more extensive test to check the output was perfect, orthopedist said mri showed nothing in her arm/shoulder, upper gi showed on problem with her stomach. So, we are thinking since everything imaginable has been ruled out and since she is on meds that can have joint and muscle pain as side effects that we ought to consider that. Dennis did an analysis of her meds, but she was afraid to make suggesstions. Her generation was taught to just do what the doctor said. So, she and my sis asked if I could go with her and discuss our concerns. Of course he was very receptive and said it is not unreasonable to look at meds as a cause. The pain is severe enough that it wakes her and bothers her all day, so it is affecting her quality of life. She - like most - is on a med for cholesterol. That is the most likely culprit and not life threatening if she does not take it for a period of time so she is stopping that today. At 81 she has only been on ANY meds for about 5 years and the number she takes went from none to 6 in not too long a time. Dennis thinks they have added med to treat side effects of meds, which happens often. Gave her 2 BP meds, her triglycerides went up to over 400 so put her on a med for that, but the literature that Dennis got showed that these two meds can cause triglycerides to rise and even more so in combination.
I did get to see my niece's baby girl. She is not quite 3 months and this is just the second time I've gotten to play with her. MMMMMM Love that baby smell.
Long post. Sorry
