Those formal, coordinated trees look pretty but I never really understood them. To me they just didn't represent what I have always loved so much about Christmas.

We have lots of Disney ornaments (of course), a Power Ranger ornament, zoo animal Christmas cookie ornaments, Coca-Cola bears, preschool made ornaments, etc.. In fact our star was even made by Nathan. He wanted to make the star for the top of our tree so we took some black foam paper and painted it with silver glitter. It looks kind of silly but DS loves it! I imagine it will be our tree topper for at least a few more years!

The second year we were married (before we had kids) we had a silver and gold tree. I bought all gold and silver ornaments with white lights (after christmas sale) and all gold and silver wrapping paper. The tree was so beautiful. Everything was perfect. It was funny because DH and I both said...we will never had a tree like this again!!!

Now we have a travel and homemade tree. We buy ornaments when ever we travel (which is rather often) and they are all on our tree. We always say that after we are married long enough we will have an entire tree of travel ornaments!

Do you know for about 3 minutes I seriouly considered asking IT to write me a program that posts every 40 seconds in the middle of the night so I could get a milestone? I am a CRAZY person!!!!

Well that is one way to get to a milestone...and also really boost our thread count!!!!

No tinsel at our house either. You shouldn't use it on a live tree because it renders the tree un-recyclable.... (ie can't shred it) Probably because it would a) gum up the machine and b) harm wildlife that may eat it.

We have no tinsel either - I hate it. Hubby insists on the lights but I hate the lights too. I love to smell the tree and see all the ornaments unadorned.

Ken likes the blue lights too Brandi - and you can never find any at seasons end so you are lucky.

We are doing the same thing! We are wearing lime for boarding and the afternoon. We are changing into our matching red hawaiian Mickey stuff for dinner.

We're doing the blue hawaiian mickey ensemble first night....

That is why the kids only trade with CMs.

Exactly....plus trading between private people, the trading is more difficult because it becomes a "deal or no deal" situation....when we are on the go, we seldom have time to stop and wheel-and-deal with someone unless its a sure thing; DD usually does all of her trading while waiting in line for rides, with character meal escorts, etc...

I just downloaded "Woody's Roundup" to itunes for my DS.

they are a lot of kids consignment shops around - even we have one about 1/2 hour away. They really don't give you anything compared to the original value.

All the stuff disappeared that we put at the end of our driveway. Weekends seem to be better for unloading things. YIPPEE!!!

At least it will go to another home for kids to play!!! That is better than a landfill!

Morning all!

Our tree....well it used to be purple and silver/gold but now it's a missmatch of everything but only white lights. I let DH put colored ones up outside even though I prefer the white. We have tons of Disney ornaments, sports one, ones for the girls, but most everything is breakable so the bottom half of the tree looks a bit bare.

My mom's tree....first they get some sort of 20-30" tree that is outrageously priced and it has HUGE red and gold ornaments, it really looks fantastic but you have to get on a ladder to decorate and it has to be tied with fishing wire in various places so it oesn't fall over. Not sure if she'll be doing one this year as their house is for sale.
My grandma (and what I grew up with) had three trees ALWAYS. One white one with all sugar candy ornaments. One green one with all hallmark ornaments and another green one that had all the ornaments from the kids as well as all the daycare children she kept. She also glued cotton balls on the windows for snow and pretty much decorated everything, not tacky though.
I am going to try and start some decorating tonight. We'll see how that goes though!
