Dh is at his parents' house with the kids baking pies and helping get ready for tomorrow. I can't go over because of the smoke and dust. I am still not over my sinus infection/cold. tomorrow will be very difficult but the weather is supposed to cooperate. I tend to sit outside a lot because of the smoke. my DH has never smoked but every member of his immediate and I bet 80% of his extended family smoke. they just don't understand how hard it is to go over and have to use the breathing machine when we get home. it has gotten so bad that we take changes of clothes when going from DH's parents or relatives houses to my relatives houses. we even make sure that the kids have coats that we can wash when we get home. I have tried talking to MIL but she says she really cannot quit. she tried once and had kidney problems??? I don't get that but she is not the worst one. BILs are really inconsiderate with their smoking. they just puff away even if Ds & I are already wheezing. I do love my in laws but this is one thing I wish I could change.
Here are some serious hugs :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: . My whole family is filled with non smokers. I can't imagine spending a holiday with smokers. I am sure they are lovely people, it is just so hard to breathe that air when you are not accustomed to it. My mom's dad was a smoker (he passed away) and as a kid I can remember my mom complaining about his smoking "in front of the kids." We were young and our lungs were not developed and that we couldn't handle that smoke. To this day when I go somewhere smokey (which really isn't often because most places are smoke free.) it really bothers me. Good luck.

Yesterday was my uncle's 81st birthday. He and my aunt arrived in town last night from Idaho. They came to visit today and I baked him a chocolate cake to celebrate his BD. He was very touched. He has been my hero since I was a very little girl and I loved making him smile today. :)
Angie that was really sweet! I hope you enjoy your day!!!! I can't believe I am up today before 5 AM. I get this way when I know I have a house full of people coming.

just kidding...I knew what it was because my MALE roommate used to watch GH everyday after class (or during class)...he would lay on the couch, drink beer and yell at the TV when someone would do something stupid, like kiss the wrong guy or whatever...it was hilarious.

That is a funny image. Beer and GH!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Happy Thanksgiving DIS geeks!! How is everyone doing? I am 700 pages behind now so please forgive me if I just jump in and don't even try to catch up.

We're in Charlottesville, VA right now visiting my parents for T Day tomorrow. On Saturday JP (who is 6 and 364/365 today) had his last basketball game for the fall season, then we got in the car and drove all night to get here by noon. We only stopped for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants -- Steak n Shake. John and Amy, do you have this where you are in OH? They don't have one in MN and we just LOVE it.... By the way, that's about 20 hours in the car for those who are keeping track.

As soon as we arrived in Cville on Sunday, my whole family, including my brother and his wife and kids (who flew in from Calgary), 1 sister, parents and me Paul and the kids all drove 2 hours away to the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. The only person missing is my sister who lives in London. She moved there in April and I have not forgiven her yet. We had a lot of fun at the waterpark for a few days, left our mark on an Outback restaurant (my 1 and 3 year old niece and nephew had the mother of all screaming matches, oy), then drove back here to the parental abode just outside Cville. Right now everyone but me and my SIL and the 2 little ones are at a UVA basketball game. Tomorrow's the big turkey dinner, then Friday everyone is going to see Happy Feet before the Husker football game is on TV -- an annual must see event since me, dh, db and dsil all went to UNL.

Anyway, that's what we've all been up to, hope you are all enjoying this holiday week as well. I am SOOOO excited about the cruise and seeing you all, it seems so close now!
Hi TANA!!! I am glad that you are enjoying your family! Have a happy happy Turkey DAY!

Anyone have any quick thaw tips for a 20 lb turkey?

I need to have it ready for the oven before 7 am tomorrow. I forgot to take it out of the freezer until yesterday.

I asked this here before and someone said yes they will. I went and ordered them personalized from disneystore.com... huge mistake. They were ALL too small (the adult size fit the kids size, the kid size might fit an infant), and one was poorly stitched so the edge was folded over wrong.. ugh. They all are going back, and I'll be buying them at DW now.
I got the Disney Direct Christmas Pj's for my kids. I think they are VERY low quality. I am also sending them back!!! I went to the Disney store and bought some there!!! They were much nicer!

Can today be Thirsty Thursday if it is already Thanksgiving Thursday???

Does it go to Thirsty Thanksgiving by default????

Just Wondering.....

We are doing ok. Autumn had her MRI on monday and it looks like she will be having a series of 3 surgeries after the holidays. They will be doing brain, neck and back surgery on her. They are changing her meds around to make her more comfortable for the next month. It looks like she will have alot of down time on the cruise but I plan on packing some of her favorite games and sitting on deck 7 with her during the day. We will also try to hit the pools when they are less busy so she can enjoy it. One good thing is that her spirit is high right now.

Thanks for asking

Jill
I am happy to hear that she has a good spirit. That really means alot.

We now have the rain that you fine folks were having the other day!!! It is POURING!!!! It has been all night. I am so glad my DH finished up with the Christmas lights yesterday afternoon. They blue and white will be awesome. They will make their debut tonight!!!!

they actually have underwire bras for size 32 - I never got that - even after kids.

I would think that underwire is beyond the jurisdiciton of airport security - KWIM?

I will always think of Brandi when I am writing KWIM!!!

I think I am going to go and peel my potatoes. Fun stuff.

hubby woke me up going potty so I got up to put the bird in. Why do you have to leave that plastic leg noose in there? Doesn't it melt in the oven?
We have only done breasts for so many years that I haven't seen this before.

We are bringing our bird to the community building - they have a town wide dinner - for anyone who is alone, poor, or just likes to eat with a crowd.
Woodstock has a lot of elderly people. The dinner is free - all contributions - volunteers cook the turkeys etc.

Then we go to MIL for our turkey dinner.
