Did you add any ice to keep it cold?

No, I planned to just leave it there for a few hours to thaw a little bit. It was in the deep freezer before & I didn't know if DH was going to stay here until last night. I ended up staying up late bored and carried DD upstairs forgetting about it.

YUP! Put it in the sink full of cold water and let it sit over night. That's what I ended up doing by accident last night. :rolleyes1 The water & bird were still cold this morning when I got up.

Lisa beat me to it.

I've never added ice and I've had to quick thaw a turkey a few times. The cold tap water is cool enough.

The trick I was always told was to fill the sink with cold water and place the turkey in there... that will thaw it but keep it cool enough so that bacteria doesn't grow. :thumbsup2

I'm glad that ended up being the trick. :thumbsup2 It worked for me. When I saw it this morning I figured that I would have to run out & pay alot more for another one. The water felt like it was iced. I guess it was all night with the giant iced turkey.

Cruise Documents have arrived at the Halkias house!!!!

I must say though . . . everything is getting cheaper, even the cruise docs . . . they once came in a nice folder, each person had their own docs, etc..

Not saying I am not excited - it is a sure sign the cruise is close at hand - just a general comment.

(probably just grumpy - not underwear Kim - because I had to drive DD and MIL halfway to Toledo and come back tonight - just tired)

Dh is at his parents' house with the kids baking pies and helping get ready for tomorrow. I can't go over because of the smoke and dust. I am still not over my sinus infection/cold. tomorrow will be very difficult but the weather is supposed to cooperate. I tend to sit outside a lot because of the smoke. my DH has never smoked but every member of his immediate and I bet 80% of his extended family smoke. they just don't understand how hard it is to go over and have to use the breathing machine when we get home. it has gotten so bad that we take changes of clothes when going from DH's parents or relatives houses to my relatives houses. we even make sure that the kids have coats that we can wash when we get home. I have tried talking to MIL but she says she really cannot quit. she tried once and had kidney problems??? I don't get that but she is not the worst one. BILs are really inconsiderate with their smoking. they just puff away even if Ds & I are already wheezing. I do love my in laws but this is one thing I wish I could change.

Missy,

I bet they LOVE the fact that issue 5 passed don't they???

FYI for those of you outside Ohio, as of December 7th, Ohio will be SMOKE FREE - except in private homes, or outdoor patios. No smoke in bars, restaurants, workplaces . . . virtually EVERY public place! Wooooohoooo! No more waiting for the non-smoking section when the smoking section has 12 empty tables!

(shameless non-smoker glee - sorry Todd)

My underwire bras have never set off the detectors. I suppose it could happen, but they would just "wand" you. :confused3

DS is home playing his old Nintendo while I sit here and DIS . . . I just said to Amy, with all those underwire bras, the women on our cruise must all have some big b***s . . . got one of those sideways glances from DS . . .

I mean are they using coat hanger wire in those things Karen?

- Twins: Ken and Elaine, and.....hmmm...

Can I be tutored on these? :confused3

I hear there is an online course . . . charter school . . .

Just read about 55,000 pages.

Pop quiz tomorrow morning.

You now have two rooms, right?

Yes Angie, we have 2 rooms, but we only recieved the docs for one so far. Sarah and I are in one room together. We each have our own book. Odd.

I had three exclamation points... according to my six year old these are used to show if you are excited!!!

:lmao: :lmao: You could always do that trick of removing your bra through your sleeves and putting it in the bin as you pass through the detector. :lmao:

I have a wonderful worker, TYLER, whom, without me asking, will bring me an eggnog latte from starbucks when I feel bad. He is adorable. He knew nothing about computers and had never worked retail, he has stepped up in every aspect. He was my first hire, he has spoiled me in every way, lol.

Pj

I wouldn't say "in every way" around here... ;)

We only stopped for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants -- Steak n Shake. John and Amy, do you have this where you are in OH? They don't have one in MN and we just LOVE it.... By the way, that's about 20 hours in the car for those who are keeping track.

Yes Tana, we have one about 10 minutes from our house. Used to love it a lot more until we got one so close, then like everything else, the novelty wore off . . . I still do really like their fries though.

Did you drive through Ohio at all?

I really like Charlottesville . . . Really enjoyed visiting Monticello when we went there. Jefferson fascinates me - a true renaissance man, and I bet he would have been a DIS Geek today.

(just flattering myself with that founding father blasphemy)

Yes, there will be xmas hats galore...Mickey ones/minnie ones/goofy ones/stitch ones/xmas tree ones/princess ones too... Maybe a pirate one this year :confused3

Usually they change a little each year. If you are not planning on going in the parks before the trip there is a huge xmas store at DTD that will have them. Usually in the 15-20 dollar range.

Sounds cute!! Would there be a good time to wear them on the ship?

Next year have Thanksgiving at your house and make them smoke outside, even if it's -30 below and snowing. I used to smoke (dirty little secret) and would not smoke in front of people that could not breath for goodness sake.

BTW - perhaps if Lisa had time, she would post on the web page all of us now on meds . . .

Amy picked up the Zpack and prednisone for me today. Sinuses are raging, throat is sore, and I needed antibiotics and steroids to nip it in the bud. As long as I visit my allergist twice a year, they will always call it in for me on my semi-annual change of seasons URI.
