I was reading over on the CB (I know - how dare I! ;) ) the annual Santa wrap vs. unwrap debate. Santa never wrapped presents for us as a kid but all of the gifts from family were wrapped. So many people say that it would not be any fun to have Santa gifts unwrapped but I think it is more fun. It is so exciting to see all that stuff laid out and I love seeing each year what my kids go for first. Sometimes they surprise me! This year I think Nathan will go for his big Power Ranger Megazord and I think Allie will go for the doll and stroller.

The only time Santa wrapped anything was when Nathan was 2. We went to see Santa and he had some big empty presents wrapped under his tree and Nathan really liked the purple ones so he told Santa he wanted “purple presents”. Santa had a very hard time finding purple paper but he did manage to get two purple presents into Nathan’s stash! ;)

Does your Santa wrap?
santa never wrapped ours (except one year when I special requested it) until we got old enough to be nosy - then santa color coded our gifts with blue paper, red paper, etc.
Our kids santa gifts are not wrapped either.

Ok, if you think that kind of a warning will keep me away, think again . . .

So who is this Tom, and where was he pushed back to? Why was this a problem? And if it was a problem, believe me, we are more relieved than you!

:rolleyes1

Just checked for the first time today, and over 40 pages behind . . . I am going to join Kim in seeing who can get the farthest behind - OY!

John1
sorry John - I got you both beat on being behind!! one of the last posts I'd read before this week was in the 29,000's!!! I've given up and am now just trying to keep up - maybe after TG I can go back and read...diana

We are all going for haircuts the week of the 27th. I will touch up my roots some time that week as well. Having been prematurely gray since I was a teenager, I am a home box/bottle kinda gal... saves me money for my next vacation!
Home box here, too, for years, but this time, I'm going to get it done there - it's a bit too light on the ends (and damaged because I don't do roots only touch ups) - she wants to put some low lights in, too because my roots are DARK now!!! I know it is gonna kill me to pay the price!!! diana

ahhh...now this is how I remember the good ole days...post after post by...ME!!! gonna try for a whole page LOL

Santa has always wrapped around here. And as a kid Santa wrapped unless it was a huge gift like a bike or something.

I'm fortunate (I guess, $$wise) that there's not much I can do to my hair that won't look totally weird. How many Asians do you know that have natural looking highlights? I'm pretty much a one-color gal, so doing the home box thing is easy.

Okay Ipod Geeks, I need a recommendation.

I have a Nano, but eventually i will probably get a video ipod.

I need a ripper -- something to get the music from my nano back onto my new laptop (originally the music loaded onto my old laptop).

Eventually I'll probably want to rip video to the video ipod.

What's the best thing to download/buy so I can take care of current and future needs?

Thanks!

Here you go ......

Just read this on our local news. Thought you ladies with the bad haircuts might appreciate it.

OLYMPIA - Talk about having a bad hair day.

A local woman's bad experience at an Olympia salon got way out of hand. One thing led to another, and now she could go to jail -- all over a haircut!

"It was bad, I cried when I got home," said Dana Kelly. It started Oct. 8: "I was getting ready to start a new job on Monday."

Kelly went to Audrey's in Olympia. It's a salon she says she's been using - happily - for six years. But this time, Kelly says the cut was bad, the customer service was worse and the manager wasn't interested in her complaints.

"I said, 'you know, I'm not comfortable paying for this,' " says Kelly, "and I took my credit card back from her and I walked out."

But Audrey's reported her to police.

After investigating, Olympia police cited Kelly with theft of services - punishable by a maximum of a year in jail and $5,000 fine.

"Those are kind of scary words," says Kelly.

KOMO 4 News tried to talk with the owner or manager at Audrey's, but both were unavailable.

According to the police report, the manager says she warned Kelly that she would call police.

Olympia's Prosecutor Paul Wohl can't remember ever prosecuting anyone over a haircut. But he says although the amount of money is small -- just $37 -- it's typical of the 3,000 cases they prosecute in a year. And, Wohl adds, business owners deserve action.

"It wouldn't be any different if a grocery store experienced a shoplifter, or any other business experienced a loss by theft," Wohl said.

Wohl also says there's something called a "Compromise of Misdemeanor" law where Kelly could pay restitution and then the charges would be dismissed.

But Kelly's not buying that; she says it's a matter of principle.

"I'm not going to pay it, I didn't do anything wrong," she said.

So Kelly is looking for an attorney and planning for her court date, the day before Thanksgiving.

DD just discovered DS's old My First Leappad. It has a short in it but she loves it. I think maybe Santa should bring her a pink one...maybe with the Disney Princess book. :)

Chicken in a Pot, No Pie

Show: 30 Minute Meals
Episode: Fillin' Groovy

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
2 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
2 starchy potatoes, skin left on and diced (recommended: Idaho)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 ribs celery with leafy green tops, finely chopped
2 carrots, peeled and diced
1 bay leaf, fresh or dried
Salt and pepper
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup dry white wine, eyeball it
5 cups chicken stock
1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders, chopped
1 small bunch pencil asparagus, trimmed of woody ends and cut into 2-inch pieces
1 cup frozen peas, a couple of handfuls
2 to 3 tablespoons fresh tarragon, 4 to 5 sprigs, chopped
Serve with crusty whole-grain bread - a lot easier than making pastry!

Heat a large, deep skillet or a medium soup pot over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil and butter. Melt butter into oil then add the potatoes, onions, celery and carrots, adding them to the pot as you chop them. Add bay leaf and season veggies with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning, cook 5 to 6 minutes to soften them a bit. Add flour and cook another minute then whisk in wine and cook off a minute more. Add stock and put a lid on the pan or pot and raise heat to bring to a quick boil. Slide in chicken and cook 5 minutes. Stir in asparagus and cook 3 minutes more. Turn off heat and add the peas and tarragon. Stir to combine and adjust salt and pepper, to your taste. Ladle into bowls and serve with crusty bread for mopping.

MMMMM.....

Hope everyone is okay....we had some UNBELIEVABLE storms here...lots of flooding...our school even had to be evacuated. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Thinking about everyone...our internet was down all day and is finally up.

Karen - The news made it sound NASTY! I guess it is the same storm system causing all that damage yesterday in Mississippi.

I hope everyone is safe and this storm moves out real soon. :goodvibes:

OK, if the DIS geeks from this part of the country are off the boards later... it could be the storms. Southeastern PA, NJ, DE and northeast MD (maybe more; that's all I hear on radio here) are under a tornado watch and a flood watch until 6pm. Winds are starting to whip here.

It was like something I've never experienced in my life!!! The skies looked ominous!!

I guess you guys in that part of the country do not get a lot of severe weather. Unfortunately for us here in Missouri we get a lot of it. :sad2: Stay safe.... :grouphug:

Just check on the sales floor both the #96 and the #100 are for your printer, the basic black option is #96, if you want nicer photos, especially if printing black and white, use the #100. Are your designs fairly solid colours? Go #96. More photographic, go #100.

That is was at work Penny, you will see at Disney aunt Pj on the trip.

Pj

Thanks PJ!!!

I went with the 100 and all my t shirts ....I mean t-s***** came out awesome!!!
