Yes, I do Target.

Target is not the 800 pound Gorilla that WM is.

Yes, Walmart is bad. But, I'd rather shop at Walmart than Target. Target to me just has an odd feeling to it...its weird. Maybe its all the red in the store. Kind of weirds me out.

Don't get me wrong, I do get annoyed going into Walmart...seeing how they throw all the crap at you and expect you to put up with it because you don't have a choice...(where else are you going to shop??).

I think the feelings toward Walmart are worse for older people (older than me)...because they have done so much damage to the "way things used to be" that the effects are felt differently. I grew up in the 80's didn't see as much of the Mom and Pop stores, and downtowns that my parents would have seen and been used to.

But, alas...what is there to do anymore. At least, they haven't been doing what Lowes has been doing around here....(maybe everywhere?)

Not every store can be a Wegmans.

I have been thinking about this. How do you approach someone who you know is extremely mad at you? I don't want her to think I am rubbing it in or being snide in anyway. That is the part that has me hung up. I don't know the best way to go about doing it.
One on one without an audience. :grouphug:

Dear, i don't think you've seen John's earlier posts which explain his severe, intense, rage/hatred at Walmart.

John own store has been greatly affected by the Walmarts there. He has had to let employees go. (Since he is in HR at the store)

I totally understand John....

and Lowes....one of the top 100 employers to work for...NOT

Let me not go there.....

This was Eliza's Baptism. My mom made her dress. She chopped up her wedding gown to make this dress.

John1, have you ever tried those packets you shake and they heat up? You can put them in your socks and gloves. We used them at a game in Washington State when there was snow and ice on the bleachers. You just have to shake your foot once in a while to reactivate them. :thumbsup2

I keep telling him to buy those. Maybe he will now that someone else has suggested it!!

Ah, Walmart WAS a mom and pop store. Five and Dime in Bentonville, Arkansas. Then a second store, then six stores. Hard work and a love of competition. This old lady sees it as the ultimate American Dream. Sorry, John1.

John,

This is kind of funny, but they sell them in our grocery stores here. :rotfl:

They sell them everywhere around here also. I am sure Dick's had them and I would have found them. Maybe if someone would have asked.........

:lmao: :rotfl2: That is so funny!! DrHug will not ask either. We will wander a store for hours rather than ask. "Should be around here somewhere". :lmao: I think in DrHug's case though it is that he LIKES to shop and wants to cover the whole store! ;)

Yeah, go ahead and laugh!

I had to go to Dick's sporting goods today to get some new gloves and some warmer socks. I also got new long Johns. I told Amy I am NOT going to freeze at the football game this weekend. Watch now, it will probably be in the 50's again! My fingers and toes froze this weekend at the game!

John1

The weather has been very jumpy lately. Makes it hard to get used to the cold when the temp do drop. KWIM? But I am very thankful for the warmer days. I swear I am ready to move south!

So John....are you going to listen to your wife...and new friends...and get those hand warmers????

I need to package a few things and head to the post office. I hate dragging the kids out just to go to the post office...oh well.

klineyqueen said:
That is what many people have said. I have said before that she has dropped the ball so badly lately it is just crazy. She wasn't doing the "job" but she was loving the feeling of being in control. KWIM? My friend the VP and I both said that we really need to discuss term limits. We have them in every other organization at the church. That way it the leadership won't get stale.

Ummmm, time limits. Isn't that what our fearless leaders promise too?? ;) j/k

Her reaction really was over the top. :sad2: She doesn't have to be the president to contribute and give input. I hope you don't have a bad time with her. Maybe the pastor needs to have a little talk with her about it if she keeps it up.

OK I've got to go. I've been on the computer doing door signs and Dising so long that DH is starting to sing the "Ballad of the DIS Geek Husbands".

I am happy for Brandi and her church. I hope that woman gets some rest. She needs it.

I've broken my right little toe so many times that I don't even notice any more. It might be easier just to cut it off. Then again I would just start breaking the next one in line.

Night all. :wave2:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:
