11th Annual DVC Holiday Tree Exchange **See you in July 2014 for sign ups!**

If you are on the BCV Tree lists, you should expect an e-mail by Wednesday evening. Looking forward to the tree exchange!

DH and I will be sending info about the VWL tree on Friday.

I will have some general info on exchanging later today.

This is some info about exchanging at resorts with a business center: (Thank you, MrShiny!)

The package will initially be at the business center, although they will have it brought to your room. The last family also will send it out via the business center.

In between, Bell Services will hold it (assuming more than two families sharing the tree).

There is a fee in and out for shipping if there is a Business Center. I think most reported around $5 in addition to shipping cost (so even if prepaid). Of course you could always drop it off at a Post Office/UPS/FedEx yourself if you have time/transportation:

IKON Office Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of document management systems and services, now operates the Walt Disney World Business Centers located in convention centers at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Yacht Club Resort, providing consistent services and pricing throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

Designed to serve as Guests' "office away from home," the centers provide document services, office-equipment rental, large document reproduction, offset printing, bindery services and more.

Particularly popular among business and leisure travelers alike are Guest Parcel Services, in which Guests pay a handling fee to have their personal packages shipped to and from their resort. Handling fees (charged in addition to shipping/postage fees) range from $3-$10 depending on weight and as much as $70 for a 100-pound pallet.

Disney-owned-and-operated resort hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, without IKON-operated Business Centers (non-convention resort hotels) also offer the package-delivery services and now charge the same handling fees for departing packages, which ensures consistency.

HI!

The AKV Jambo tree had some cancellations once I sent the final list, so I'm keeping that tree open until around 11/15. See the thread for more info.

Thanks!

So, BLT sign up has ended, and tree #2 is headed to WDW this week. However, I do not have "real names" from all of the people interested in sharing the tree. They, so far, have not responded to PM's. In some cases, the people have not been on the boards for a while, so they probably haven't seen the PM. Do I take them off the list? I know people's plans change, but I hate to have people miss out when they thought they had signed up. On the other hand, if the person at the end of the exchange isn't coming, the tree wouldn't get returned to the donor. Any good ideas on how to handle this? Thanks!

I just need info from 1 more person. Unfortunately, they are last on tree #2. Ack! What to do? :confused3

I would PM the next to last person, and see if they would be willing to do the "return" job. If so, I would have the list in the box end with their last name.

IF you do hear from the last people eventually, get in contact with someone on the list and ask them to hand write those last people to the list. I would not know what else to do either.

Good luck!

Sarah,

I just realized that I am waiting to hear from the same person, since they have the BCV Tree #1 reserved for earlier in their trip. I will let you know if I hear something...

Thank you!

I am going to follow Bobbi's suggestion for now. The donor will be at WDW this week, so the tree will get dropped off then. I will contact the next to last person if I hear something. :)

I've heard from everyone now. Let the sharing begin! :):santa:

We have confirmation that the package handling fee is still $5.

So far, we have had 3 trees go missing. All have been found, as far as I know. For everyone sharing a tree, here are some helpful hints to keep your tree from going AWOL, and finding it if it does. :)

- When you are finished with your tree and taking it to Bell Services for the next family, please get the name of the CM at Bell Services that you gave the tree to. Maybe even snap a picture. Then send that info to your resort coordinator. Make sure that you cross your name off of the outside of the box before turning in the tree.

- If you go to get your tree, and Bell Services says they can't find it:

-- Check at Bell Services at your villa.
-- Check at Bell Services at the main resort, if it is different (e.g. BLT and Contemporary)
-- Check at Business Services if your resort has a business center.

Let your coordinator know what is going on. So far, trees have been found in some unusual places, including Bell Services at another resort and Floral Services.

Thank you for helping to spread the holiday magic! :santa:

We are enjoying the VWL tree, Rob S mentioned we would be getting it from Bell Services, given that they checked out the same day we checked in. Even knowing that, the tree was not found right away, but CM Cindy kept looking and it was found within 1/2 hour.

BLT Tree #1 has returned to Illinois and has been put away for next year.

I will organize donors and coordinators for Christmas 2014. Look for the "12th annual tree exchange" thread sometime in July of 2014. :)

Actually, I was thinking about continuing our thread, for VGF, because we have already booked for December 2014.

Excellent! I will direct people your way when the time gets a little closer.

I, as of right now, will be not making a 2014 holiday trip. I will likely donate the tree to wherever it is needed. So far, it has been a SSR tree, an OKW tree, and a BLT tree.

The VWL tree was picked up by my DSis today!

Yay! Thank you again for all of your help. :flower3:

Another big thank you to Mr Shiny for answering all of my questions. You were a tough act to follow, and I appreciate all of your help as well.
