I tried to search and couldn't find information that could assist me.

Home resort is DWV. Myself, along with my Siblings have been added to an existing title owned by parents (Ownership since '99 or around that timeframe).

I've been told, that Aulani when built if you had an existing DVC membership you would be able to take advantage of the booking window as your home resort, 11 mo - something along the lines of an additional member benefit. On DVC booking page, Aulani does indeed show up as a home resort and does show an 11mo booking window and is selectable to book.

However, trying to go through with the booking I get errors referring to not enough points (I would have to borrow against the 2023 and purchase some 1 time use points to complete the booking).

Called DVC, and they explained that our home contract is DWV and not Aulani and thus not able to book 11mo out. But why would Aulani show as a home resort then based off the membership?

Anyone have an explanation. I realize booking 7mo out of Aulani isn't a big deal - but the two things I hear/see don't correlate

You do not have 11 month booking for Aulani..only owners of Aulani have that.

Have you bought any OTU points In the recent past?

Those show up in a temporary contract and can be for any resort. While there, it makes it look like it’s a home resort.

If you did, then it means DVC gave you Aulani points for that transaction.

Contrary to what you may been told, there has never been a time when non-Aulani owners had the same reservation window as owners of Aulani. Such a program has never existed with any DVC resort, as owners of the resort have always had a reservation advantage over non-owners. For DVC to do otherwise by giving non-owners the same reservation window as owners would effectively violate the law that requires that total timeshare interests attached to a DVC resort cannot exceed what it would take to fill all rooms in the resort for one year, and would violate the terms of Aulani's original POS that provided that owners would always have a reservation window that began before non-owners and that the shortest difference between owner and non-owner beginning times for making a reservation could never be less than one month.

What there has been in the past that differs from the 11/7 reservation windows that currently exist is that when OKW came into existence, its original difference was 11 months versus 10 months. The was changed to 11/7 before the opening of any other DVC resorts and thus the 10-month non-owner window was never actually used by anyone.

Also in the past, when a new resort has opened for initial reservations, DVC has applied a shorter difference in windows, such as having owners of the resort having the ability to make their first reservations only as little as a month before non-owners could also start reserving.

(Also note that I cannot tell which DVC resort you actually own since DWV is not the initials used for any of them.)

It is a big deal for June/Christmas…. Usually everything else is open at 7 months except standard views and hotel room.
