11 year old on ride solo?

My two sons and I are going to take a quick trip to Disney at the end August right before school starts (I'm a teacher). My 6 year old won't do some rides that my 11 year old would like to do. Can my 11 year old ride by himself, for example Tron, without an adult with him? I may have a former student join us for a day but that's not a guarantee. If it matters, he has been on Tron before so knows what to expect.

Yes, he can ride solo. WDW allows age 7+ to ride alone; those under age 7 must be accompanied by someone age 14+. So your little guy wouldn't be able to go alone but your older one can.

As long as your 6yo meets the height requirement, you would be allowed to wait in line with your 14yo and then you and the 6yo would use the chicken exit and wait to meet your older child when he exits the ride.

Lol...willing for me. Waiting a long time with my younger child when neither of us are riding would be rough. You certainly are "able," anyone is able to wait in whatever line you want assuming you've bought a park tix for entrance, meet the height requirement, and have bought/gotten whatever virtual que/lightning lane needed.

Thank you! I don't think my oldest would have any issues riding solo if that meant he could ride it. My youngest is a little quirky so he can be questionable, even with using the chicken exit.

Consider buying him a ILL for it. He will get through the line MUCH MUCH faster and you won't have to wait as long.

Already considered that. I may try for the VQ for all of us and the ILL for him. If we get in the VQ, then I would probably use the chicken exit at the end (or maybe see about riding in one of the regular seats with little man)

Just want to mention that in our experience the VQ can take almost an hour to get through. It's not a short wait.

DS#1 and I rode on the regular seat "race car" and really enjoyed it. It has the fast launch but overall we consider it a very low key coaster, not high thrill and it is short. As DS#2 said "it's a fine coaster but not the best in the park."

My 11 year old rode rock and roller coaster with my 8 year old (I was alone in seat in front of them). Not sure if that counts as “alone.”

Totally depends on the child and how independent they are. FWIW my daughter who is incredibly independent was riding Rock and Roller coaster by herself the first trip after she became tall enough to ride it.

The biggest thing for me, when deciding about whether my grandkids can ride alone, is can they handle it if the ride stops/ breaks down and they need to not panic and follow directions to stay put or evacuate with CMs.

My daughter could not wait until she was old enough to ride alone. I couldn't help but be a bit offended, lol, but she is just very independent. Her first solo ride was Thunder Mountain. Despite having been on it many times I somehow didn't think about there being two exits. I was waiting at the wrong exit, getting exceedingly more worried as the minutes ticked by and she didn't show up. Then I saw her walking towards me with a CM. When she didn't see me at the exit she went to a CM and explained that she rode alone and I was supposed to be waiting for her but I wasn't there. Of course the CM immediately figured out that I was probably at the wrong exit and brought her to me. I wanted to crawl under a rock. I felt like the worst parent of the year, but my daughter was totally unfazed. It didn't bother her one bit and she continued to ride without me every chance she got lol.

My oldest was riding alone when she turned 7. It was that or she didn't ride, because my youngest daughter wasn't tall enough for most rides. She did fine. I agree, it depends on the child. They have to be ok with being alone, speaking up, and following directions.

both of your kids could have ridden without you as 7 is the magic number. if your younger one had been 6 they would not have been able to ride as you did

WOW, we rode twice last week and both times walked straight inside. And once inside our wait was maybe 20 minutes tops, and we even waited extra for the bench (race car) seat.
