11 month booking and you still don't get the room you want!

When we checked in at BWV for Thanksgiving we stood there for about 5-8 minutes while the CM looked for a room. Obviously not preassigned. When we got to the room we asked if something else was available. We were given another room. Well, when we opened the door, with our nice new room key, we found that it was still occupied!!! Seems the people in it had decided to stay another night or two but hadn't told the front desk and the front desk had it listed as cleaned and ready for the next guest!!! That was a shocker. Now, I'll just stick with whatever I'm given. As long as it's a non-smoking room I don't care. Just don't want the dd getting all ashtmatic on me.

I got one for ya -
Earlier this week we checked in and were preassigned to a room already. On our confirmation it had with stars - request non-smoking for medical reasons.
Our preassigned room was a smoking room! YEP. Luckily, this was around 4:30 and they were able to move us, only after accidentally giving us a room someone else was already in.

Long story short, the room was great and so was the resort!

I do think I'm jinxed, though...

Shan,

Was that at OKW?

Nope, VWL.

It started off bad, but we ended up with a great room!

Funny cause she said to us - Well, this view is only woods...

I was thinking aren't all views there mostly woods?!? Hubby and I laughed as we walked away cause we were thinking we must have given up a great room and must really have a bad one now, like in the boiler room or something!

Turns out we were a corner room, dedicated overlooking the quite pool and lake! Very close to the elevator, too!

I know when I arrived at VWL for my Thanksgiving trip they told me my room was ready so I took that to mean it was "pre-assigned" at some point. When I checked into SSR I was told my room was not ready, once again leading me to think at least for that period of time the rooms were pre-assigned. I make only 2 requests, non-smoking for medical and non-accessible for medical--person with bad back who cannot get up/down from toilet in handicap accessible room and shower is hazard as it leaks on floor. Granted when it's just me I can get by with only asking for non-smoking for medical but I try to remember to ask for my guest when I bring that person with the bad back! I have had some less than "desirable" views according to others but as long as I have the non-smoking room I can breath and that is all I need!! I am at Disney!! I do think they should be trying to find rooms for people based on how long ago they made their ressies with respect to medical requests for all guests. It would be nice if MS would put some things like smoking/non-smoking and handicap/non-accessible into the computer so all guests would know prior to arrival not withstanding the fact that sometimes rooms can be taken out of service due to broken pipes, electrical issues, etc.

We keep our requests pretty minimal (non-smoking) and so far we've been fortunate.
Same with us. Non-smoking is usually the only request we make. I would be so upset if we didn't get this request.
