if you want to stay at your home resort do the 11 month call, and do it right at 9 in the morning of that time, or there may not be anything available for that time you want to be there, places go fast,

Well, let's not get TOO carried away. If you wanted to book an OKW Grand Villa, then yes, you might want to call and book at exactly 11 months. A standard view BWV room for December or a holiday period...perhaps.
But each resort has hundreds of rooms available. There are VERY few situations where you need to be on the phone at 9am exactly 11 months out to get your room. We're not talking about a CRT character breakfast here.
I agree with the previous reply. The busier times for the more popular resorts may require a call on that 11-month window day. If this is your case and you must have only certain dates due to work schedule, then booking day-by-day is a viable option. There are some who think this shouldn't be done, but others see no problem. Big debates in previous posts; let's not go there!
The problem is you may not truly know what's the busier times and harder to get rooms. If it's important to you, you must decide. But do not feel guilty if you feel you must call day by day to get what you want. DVC could actually change the rules to where you could book as many days as you have points for when the FIRST day opens up on the 11 month window giving you a priority of 11 months plus ever how many days you have points for. This would eliminate the day by day calling but would create other issues which we can discuss at lenth if needed. FYI, other timeshare extend their priority windows in this manner, including Marriott. I know of someone that books 17 consecutive weeks at one time starting at the 13 month window. Single week owners can only book at 12 months out. They always get exactly what they want because they do it this way and the system is set up as such. This is the main reason I bought a second week at Marriott's Grande Ocean, to take advantage of the 13 month window.
