11 Days of Deluxe Dining,BOG and LOTS of SIGS! Completed

Ok, I admit that in all the times I have been to Disney, I had never had a Mickey Waffle. Obviously, I had to do something about this PRONTO! My son and I got up early and headed down to Roaring Forks to pick up some breakfast to eat out on our balcony that overlooked the pool. It was an awesome view!

Breakfast Platter
Disney171.jpg

I didn't try this, but it looked good and my son certainly enjoyed it!

Mickey Waffles with Strawberries and Whipped Cream
Disney172.jpg

These were yummy!! The strawberries and whipped cream really made it special!

The plan for the day was to spend the morning in Animal Kingdom, have a snack at Captain Cooks, then go to Be Our Guest for a late lunch when my husband arrived from the airport. Well, it didn't quite go as planned.

My son and I did spend a really nice morning in Animal Kingdom, then headed over to Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. We split.....

Adult Grilled Cheese w/Chips

Disney056.jpg

Disney057.jpg

I LOVE this sandwich. I had it last year and had to have it again. It is so flavorful and the chips are delicious too. There is only half a sandwich in the pics. My son already had the other half!

Pumpkin Cupcake with Candied Pecans
Disney058.jpg

Disney059.jpg

Very moist and flavorful. The frosting was very good. Not too sweet, not too heavy.
Disney055.jpg

So, my husband arrives on time and meets us at Magic Kingdom shortly after we finish at Captain Cooks. It is probably around 2 PM and we head over to Be Our Guest and they are not letting anyone in or on the bridge. They said they will start letting people in "shortly" They did let us go on the bridge to take some pics. We waited about 20 minutes before I aked if they were still serving lunch anymore that day and were told they were not :(

Our dinner reservations weren't until 8 and DH wasn't going to make it that long, so we headed over to Sleepy Hollow since the waffle sandwiches were on my must try list anyway.

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich

Disney072.jpg

This was a lot spicier than I thought it would be! It was moist, crispy and flavorful. I just wish the waffle had retained some crispness.

Ham, Prosciutto, and Swiss Waffle Sandwich
Disney073.jpg

Disney074.jpg

I actually liked this more than the chicken waffle. I didnt expect much from it, but was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was.

Funnel Cake
Disney070.jpg

Well, of course I had to have a funnel cake! The pic is a little blurry. Must be the powdered sugar all over my hands :rotfl:

In the words of Timon, "It starts." :thumbsup2

Wow! Everything looks delicious! The mac-n-cheese, the grilled cheese sandwich, the ham , prosciutto, and Swiss waffle sandwich! :cloud9: (I love cheese. ::yes:: )

Keep it coming!

Glad to hear you love cheese. I ordered a lot of cheese plates! I consider cheese a food group of its own :rotfl2:

Great start :goodvibes

I am such a fan of Wilderness Lodge and those Mickey Waffles from Roaring Fork are delicious :lovestruc

Did you try any of the other toppings at RF? The bananas foster ones are amazing!

I also love the adult grilled cheese at Captain Cooks, and we've had the pleasure of the nutella waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow :)

Trails End is on the list for our next trip so happy to see you enjoyed it. I know that DH would love the food there :thumbsup2

The food at Trails End looks really good! Some day I will get over there!

And Capt Cook's has been on my list for a while now.

Great start ...looking forward to more!

No darnit, I did not try any other toppings. I had plans to try more, but I was never hungry again in the morning. I went to bed feeling stuffed every night and woke up feeling that way! I completely forgot about getting the nutella waffle before the end of our trip. I really wanted to try that. I was always feeling stuffed. We had snacks all over our room that we would take a bite out of here and there becaue we could never finish anything. I got to try a lot of great restaurants, but dont think I would do the deluxe plan again.

I must go to Capt Cooks after breakfast at Kona for that pumpkin cupcake! Hopefully they will still have it in 8 days

Our first signature restaurant of our trip, or actually, ever! I was really looking forward to this. We leave MK to go back to WL to change into something nicer. It takes a little longer to get back than anticipated, but we rush and change and get out of our room by 7PM. Our reservation was for 7:50. What happened after that is kind of a blur! We took the boat to MK to catch the monorail or boat to Narcoossees. I asked a CM at MK what was the quickest way and he tells me the boat. So, I see no boat appraoching and think it will be quicker to take the monorail...WRONG!! I did not know that the boat would leave you right by Narcoossees. We take the monorail which travels around to the other resorts before getting us to the GF. We are already late at this point. I did not know that Narcoossees was not in the main building of the GF and we ar walking all over looking for it. We asked for directions at the desk, and in our confused, hungry state, I guesss we did not pay close enough attention because we still couldnt find it! We asked again and they pulled out another map, which we then told them were useless to us and our inferior map reading skills and to just point and give us things to look for! :rotfl2:We tell the woman at the desk we are already 40 minutes late for our ADR. She said he would call them and let them know we would be there shortly. We FINALLY find it and all is right with the world again after we get seatled promply and catch our breath.

We had a window table and saw the castle all lit up in icicle lights. Our server was very peppy and attentive. We were seated right next to a door to the dock which apparently they dont want you to go out of to view Wishes, so she told us where we would have to go around to go see it. However, the very nice young man that they had stationed there guarding the door who was chatting with us, told us he would let us use that door.

Disney122.jpg

Disney105.jpg

I'm not positive what this drink is that DH ordered. The blue glow-tini?

Bread with Hawaiian Red Sea Salt Butter
Disney106.jpg

This was my favorite bread and butter of the trip. The butter was delicious!! I believe the bread was sourdough. I had to really control myself to not get stuffed on the bread. I found the Hawaiian Red Sea Salt in DTD later in the week and picked up a few packages. Wish I asked if it was a brand of butter I could buy. Did I mention it was delicious?

My son ordered this and loved it. I of course in the interest in being able to give a full and proper report had to give it and try and agree it was indeed delicious.

Artisanal Cheeses

I ordered the cheese plate. It was delicious and again, my favorite of the trip. A nice assortment of cheeses. This began my sons love affair with stealing the little bread crisps off my cheese plates in every restaurant.

Now, normally I would never post such a disgrace of a picture, but I want everyone to see DH's photography skills and know he does not realize the importance of taking pics of one's food! I tried to keep him away from the camera after this:lmao: I did not know until we were back at WL what his pic looked like or I would have taken another myself!

Prince Edward Island Mussels

Red Onion, and Toasted Baguette

Disney107.jpg

Pitiful picture, but he said it was fantastic. I am not a mussel eater, so I did not taste it, but he was a member of the clean plate club

It was now time for Holiday Wishes to start. Our server asked if we wanted them to hold on before sending out our entrees to which I replied yes. DH glared at me :lmao: As promised, we were let out of the door right next to our table. My son and I walked all the way out and away several feet and watched the lovely show. DH hung closer to the door in case they brought the food out while we were outside. He looked like he was stalking prey! :rotfl2:

Chicken Cracklins, and Sherry-Chicken Jus

Disney116.jpg

This is what my son ordered. Not the greatest picture either, but he took his photo taking job more seriously after seeing his dads pitiful pic. He usually took several shots until he was happy with it at the other restaurants. He was in love with his meal, and again, good reporting made me taste it. Holy cow, I wanted a vat of this polenta! I went back to steal several more forkfuls. Payback for stealing my bread toasts ;) I didnt think you could get so much flavor in polenta. The chicken was delicious also, but oh my, that polenta!

Butter-poached Maine Lobster Tail with Black Angus New York Strip

Disney117.jpg

This is what DH ordered. At least it is better than his mussel pic. He loved it and ate every bite. He said his steak was cooked perfectly and so was the lobster. I think I saw a tear escape his eye ;)

Butter-poached Maine Lobster Tail with Filet Mignon

Disney115.jpg

Ok, I admit my pic wasnt the greatest either. My camera actually has a food setting! Which I used, but its not the greatest in low light. The steak was like butter. No, wait, the lobster was like butter. The butter was like...oh, umm...nevermind. Seriously, the steak was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very tender. The lobster was fantastic! Again, perfectly cooked and so tender, buttery, and delicious. The potatoes were good, not the best ever, but the rest of the meal made up for it.

Baked Chocolate Mousse w/ Bourbon Caramel Sauce and Whipped Cream

Disney121.jpg

This is what DH ordered. He liked it very much. I'm not really a fan of the warm chocolate cake or molten cake thing usually, but tried it anyway and thought it was pretty tasty.

Almond Crusted Cheesecake

Disney120.jpg

My only defense for the lousy pic is my excitement to finally try this! It was creamy and delicious. It had a really nice almond flavor. I could not finish it, as I was also eating my sons dessert who was nodding off. I of course took it back to the room with me. Tragically, it ended up getting tossed before I could eat it. I will explain in my review of the Yachtsman.

Coconut and Chocolate Crème Brûlée
Layered Coconut and Chocolate with Whipped Chantilly Cream and Toasted Coconut

Disney118.jpg

This was sooo good! My son was nodding off, so I ate several spoons of this. It was so creamy and delicious. The coconut and chocolate together was amazing.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience once we finally got there! I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone or go back myself.

Sci Fi Dine-In Theatre
This was a repeat for us at my son's request. We ate here last summer on our mother and son trip. I had ordered the ribs that time but couldnt stop eating his burger! This was DH's first time at the Sci Fi

Disney033.jpg

This is a really fun place to eat and a nice break in the middle of the day. My son of coure chose to have an oreo shake as his drink. I went with a vanilla sprite. Odd choice, I know. It was pretty good.

Fried Dill Pickles w/ Spicy Ranch Sauce
Disney037.jpg

This was my app. choice. There were pickle chips and spears. I wish they were a little crisper, but I enjoyed them. It was like the never ending cone of pickles. I had what seemed like alot, and that cone never emptied! The sauce was indeed spicy.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

A blend of Monterey Jack, Swiss, and Parmesan, Spinach, and Artichokes served with Corn Tortilla Chips
Disney038.jpg

This was DH's choice which I of course had to sample! It was really good! Very cheesy and yummy. The serving seemed a little small for the amount of chips they give you. It was gone in no time.

My son got the buffalo popcorn chicken which I did not try. He really liked it though. The pic he took came out too blurry.

The Famous All American Picnic Burger
Disney043.jpg

This wa DH's choice. For those of you who havn't heard of this...
Flame-broiled Angus Burger Patty topped with Grilled Hot Dog, Sauerkraut, and Sautéed Onions, crowned with a Pickle Spear

I only took a little bite of this, so can't really say much about it. DH thought it was good, not great.

Build-Your-Own Angus Chuck Burger

Flame-broiled Beef Patty with Cheddar or Swiss, crispy Bacon, Lettuce, and Vine-ripened Tomatoes
Disney042.jpg

Sorry for the lousy pic. It's hard to take pic in there. It' so dark and I couldnt even see well enough to fiddle with my camera settings! I enjoyed the burger, but not as much a last year. Maybe its more appealing when it is someone else's :rotfl:

The Reuben
Disney044.jpg

My son's choice. He took several bites before remembering to take a pic. I did sample this and thought it was very good. The meat was nice and moist.

Out-Of-This-World Turtle Cheesecake

with Heath Bar, Pecans, Chocolate Chips, Caramel Sauce, and topped with Whipped Cream
Disney049.jpg

DH's dessert choice. This was pretty good. The cheesecake inside wasn't too dense and heavy.

Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cake

Warm Chocolate Cake with a creamy Peanut Butter center served à la mode
Disney047.jpg

Finally, my dessert choice. I really liked the red velvet cheesecak last year and wa hoping it was still on the menu. Sadly, it wasn't so I got this after reading some good reviews. Plus, I love peanut butter!! This wa just ok for me. There was a serious shortage of peanut butter in the center. There was no oozing of yummy PB. Not even a trickle :confused3

My son got another Oreo shake. It's not the greatest meal you will have, but the food is good and it's a fun place.

This is one I was really looking forward to. I had an ADR last summer on my mother and son trip but cancelled it because my son was wiped out. So, this was finally the time to try it. Unfortunately, the night was a disaster :-( It was no fault of the Yachtsman though. We showed up about half an hour early, but were told we would be seated pretty much at our ADR time. So, we sat outside on the rockers. We get seated and they bring out the bread basket..

Disney061.jpg

YUM!! The onion rolls with the roated garlic was delicious! I had to really control myself again to not stuff myself with bread.

Artisanal Cheeses
Disney065.jpg

Disney066.jpg

This was my app. choice. I LOVE cheese! I really liked the Vermont Creamry Bijou. The caramelized white chocolate shavings with the Rogue River Blue was very nice.

Caesar Salad
Disney064.jpg

DH got this. He really enjoyed it with the bresaola that it is served on.

Lobster Bisque
Disney062.jpg

This is what my son got. I did not try it because this is where our evening went down hill fast. Shortly before the apps. came out, my son started complaining about stomach pains:scared: I suggested he try going to the bathroom and he said he didnt think he had to go. He only took a few spoonfuls of his soup and I am getting myself all worked up worrying about him because he looks really miserable. Our main course arrives.

Center Cut Filet Mignon w/ Mashed Potatoes and Cabernet Wine Sauce
Disney067.jpg

I only got a few forkfuls of this because at this point my son is starting to get upset and about to cry saying he ruined the evening. He's still complaining about his stomach and I am completely on edge expecting him to barf all over the table. :scared1: I can say however, that this was not the best filet of the trip, or even the second or third. It was cooked the way I ordered(medium), but not very flavorful.

I left the restaurant with him and took him to the bathroom which was right outide of the restaurant. I waited in the hallway and hoped he would come out feeling better. He said he was still having pains and he did not want to go back inside. He wanted to sit there and wait for us. I tell him I dont want to leave him there alone and go eat. I cant enjoy myelf while I am worrying about him there alone and upset. So, I go back inside to tell DH what is going on.

NY Strip w/ Potato Gratin and Peppercorn-Brandy Sauce
Disney069.jpg

DH was half way done with this when I got back. He said his wasn't the best either. He sucked down a few more bites, then went outside to be with my son while I ate some of my dinner which was now getting cold. I took another bite or two, but basically just wanted to get out of there, so had our server wrap it up.

Handmade Ricotta Cavatelli w/ wild muhrooms, fall squash, root spinach, and truffle
Disney068.jpg

This is what my son ordered. They poured some kind of thin sauce over it when served. I can tell you nothing about this since nobody touched it, other than to say it stunk up the fridge for the entire week. Our server wrapped it up for my son when I told him he was not coming back. He was very nice and kept apologizing even though nothing was his fault. I threw it out the next morning when I opened the fridge and was knocked over by the smell of truffle oil. I'm sure it tasted fine, but really, with being on the deluxe plan and having so much food every day, when was it ever going to get eaten? I had to throw out my leftover Narcoossees cheeecake because it tasted like truffle oil now and so did my Napoleon from France :( The filet got thrown out a few days later simply because there was never a time or stomach room to eat it.

Truffle Mac & Cheese
Disney070.jpg

I ordered this as a side. I only got a little of it, but it was very good.

I ordered 3 desserts to go and asked for the check. Our server rushed around to get me out of there as soon as possible. We took a taxi back to the resort.

Peanut Butter and Pretzel Gianduja Cake
Disney071.jpg

This was really tiny! I guess they do it up better on a plate, but in a takeout box, not very impressive. It was very good however.

Lemon Pudding Cake w/ blueberry shake, fruit leather, and candied lemon
Disney072.jpg

This was very light and refeshing. I really liked the fruit leather too! Unfortunately, since it was to go, there was no blueberry shake.

Habanero infused Flourless Chocolate Cake w/ Mango Compote and Lime Sorbet
Disney073.jpg

This was very fudgy and flavorful. You could definitely taste the habanero, but it wasn't overpowering. Again, because it was to go, no lime sorbet.

My son went to bed as soon as we got to the room and thankfully did not get up in the middle of the night. He was fine the next morning after some ummm time in the bathroom.

So, not the evening I hoped for, but I was just happy my son was feeling better the next day.

When I originally booked our 8AM breakfast, MK was supposed to open at 9, but they changed it to 8 shortly before the trip. I was a little bummed by that since I wanted to be done with breakfast by the time the park opened, but I decided to keep our ADR anyway because I really wanted to try Crystal Palace and that breakfast lasagna! :lmao:
Disney087.jpg

We check in and get a beeper. Now, I think, oh it will probably be at leat 10 minutes, lets go ride Jungle Cruise. We run over there and are the only ones on the boat..which was cool. As soon as we sit down, the beeper goes off. :rotfl: We decide to stay and ride. That beeper kept going the entire boat ride. It definitely has some range on it!! We run back to CP and wait to be seated about 5 minutes since we kind of threw them off.

It is so bright and cheerful in there. I loved it!!
Disney107.jpg

Disney106.jpg

Disney105.jpg

Disney101.jpg

We had just missed one or two of the characters by the time we sat down, but by the time we left, we had gotten our picture taken with all of them.

So, I hightailed it over the the breakfast lasagna, and the poohs french toast since I have been dying to try them!

Disney090.jpg

MMMMM.....now I know what everyone is talking about. I loved this!!:worship: The breakfast lasagna was amazing. So creamy, and yummy. The french toast was so good too. Of course I had to put some whipped cream on my plate to dip it in, in case it wasn't fattening enough. I threw on an almond scone for good measure :rotfl2: The scone was really good too. I had a few of those. Come on...they were small!
Disney093.jpg

My second plate. More french toast, with whipped cream and strawberry sauce, sausage, and some kind of cheesey potatoes. Honestly, I just cared about the lasagna and french toast and didnt pay attention to what everything was called!

Disney096.jpg

Think this was DH's plate. Smoked salmon, corned beef hash, biscuit, and potatoes
Disney098.jpg

One of my sons plates. Breakfast pizza, cheesy potatoes, and smoked salmon
Disney100.jpg

MORE breakfast lasagna, pancake, grits, whipped cream, and strawberries. Basically, carb fest on a plate. Hey, there is a piece of fruit on there :rotfl:

I would dfinitely come back here. The food was really good, the place was light and cheerful, and we had a really nice time.

I wonder what they would do if you exchanged beepers saying you are going to go ride "JUNGLE CRUISE" and would beep them when done. Well of course you would only buzz them if they buzzed you first. Funny as I think this is I am sure someone has done it before. Silly me.

Half of me wants to eat at Sci-Fi and the other half keeps saying "You're in Disney World. Why do you want a hamburger?" :rotfl:

Aww, that's a shame about your son. I'm glad he was feeling better the next day. I know what it's like to be in Disney with sick kids. During my last trip with my DB and his family, both nieces (3 and 9 months at the time) were sick on different days (and nights) and then pregnant SIL was sick most of the time too. :headache:

I love the Crystal Palace! :cloud9: Yummy food and some of the best characters!

My son got a burgr twice on our trip. Once at Le Celier, and once at Yak and Yeti. They were incredible!!! I think I liked his burger more than my filet at Le Celier. It was that good.

Wow, pregnant and doing Disney with a 3 year old, and a 9 month old? That is Disney dedication! What a shame so much sickness. I get paranoid as my trip approaches worrying about myself or someone else getting sick there. I was whipping out the hand sanitizer constantly in the parks. DH and my son would roll their eyes at me and my respone would always be "do you know how many people just touched that same surface?":lmao:

I've subscribed to a ton of threads on the DIS, but this is the first one which is just talking about food reviews! I'm excited by what I've seen so far! I'm going with my best friend Dec 14-21, and a lot of our restaurants overlap.

Feel free to check out my PTR (link in my signature). I'd love to her what you think about my ADRs!

Lol! We didn't know she was pregnant until like a month before the trip so at that point it wasn't worth trying to reschedule. Everything was working out perfect ressie-wise too. If we could do a retake, I think they'd skip the trip.

I see you have California Grill. It was my favorite meal of the trip, with Narcoossees a close second. I highy recommend the filet and the pork tenderloin. Liberty Tree Tavern is also a favorite. I love the pot roast and the ooey gooey tofee cake. O'hana was not a favorite of mine. I described it in another thread as like speed dating, only with food. I much preferred Kona Cafe
