After spending 11 Great days in Disney we had to come home to the real world. We spent 11 days at AKL and if anyone has any questions, just ask. We had the pop century upgrade, so regular room view at first. We were placed on the 1st floor with a view of the spa, it was not at all nice and loud. We complained because we really wanted a bunk bed so we got moved next door. After I called and asked to talk to the manager about this we were changed to the 3rd floor-3432- with a great pool view. UPGRADE was great! We did find the rooms to be dark, but that was not a big problem. Ate at BOMA and yes the food was great, a little spicy, but very nice. I do suggest dining there! If anyone has questions just ask, I will be happy to write you back.

welcome back, 11 days sounds fabulous!! -Cris

Way cool about the upgrade to bad you had to complain though. I am glad you got a better room. I loved Boma's when we went last year. I thought the foos was delicious. Glad you had a great time, welcome back. Now please and give us more details!!!

Two weeks from today we will be flying down and staying at AKL. Did you do any of the story telling around the fire pit at night? Is it good? Is each night the same thing? My daughter and I burn very easily. Is there any shade around the pool? How did you find the bus service?

Hi:

Glad you were upgraded, can you tell me if you were bit by the noseeums at night. Is there a pelican area that people can get close to, I love pelicans.

also bomas, if you like things like roast chicken, turkey, chicken fingers, and veges,do they have that sort of food. I have picky eaters, and wondering if the breakfast would be better for us.

The bunk beds were they the sturdy type. Thanks

Deb.

Cottontail-
Bunk beds were very sturdy. My 6 YO DS felt very comfy on the top bunk.

Also, we did BOMA for breakfast and I thought it was fantastic. My 2 DS's (5 and 6) found plenty to eat. The staff was great and they serve this yummy blended juice drink with your meal.

There is plenty of shade around the pool. In the afternoon, part of the pool itself was in the shade.

Bomas food I would say is GREAT, however a little spicy especially for young kids. One interesting item is while we were talking to the cast members from Africa they all said that the food is spicier in Bomas that in there home.
As far as Pelicans, yes they have areas where you can see them very close.
Noseeums were not a problem, we brought down repellant just for them and never used them, however it was cooler at night, around 40s so maybe it was too cool for them.
Bunks- very sturdy, our boys put them to the test and they were great.
Pool shade was all over, not a problem, they have plenty umbrellas for extra shade.
Stories- our boys went down 3 times and each time they were different, only once did they not like the story, the cast member telling it had a deep African voice and was diffucult to understand. They both really loved the games played at 7:30 at night, this left great time for my dh and I to grab a drink and sit by the fire pit and just relax!

One great surprise was the bus service, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, I was so impressed at this. I was worried about this and it was great!

We did all the parks, plus Disney Quest (3 times), boardwalk, downtown disney, 3 character breakfasts, 1 character lunch and man I want to go bacK!

I've never heard about the games at 7:30 you mentioned. Where are they? Do you prearrange for your child to go? What kind of games? For what ages of children? How much do they cost? How long does it last? Thanks so much.

Hi eeyorepatty,
After 11 days you must have tried many different restaurants... Would the breakfast at Boma be worth a special trip from another resort? My DH (likes spicy and different foods) and I will be at the Boardwalk in late August (Fall Fantasy w/breakfast included) and would like to try the Boma. Were there "different" things on the buffet compared to other buffets? We plan on visiting the AKL during our trip anyways. Thanks for any information.

Bonnie
