An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat on tight so that it would not blow off in the wind. A gentleman approached her and said: "Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?" "Yes, I know," said the lady, "I need both hands to hold onto this hat." "But, madam, you must know that your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest. The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!"

Thanks guys! I'm not really sure as of yet, but it's not looking too promising for November. DH went in today for his 1st day and of course today was just orientation day. They had to go over all the policy and procedures (state job) and over all the benefits, etc. Anyway, he went to the personel office (I guess that's what you would call it) and he didn't actually get to see or talk to the head of his department. He did mention our vacation plans to the person there at orientation and all they said was that it wouldn't look good to take any time off during the 6-month probation period. :sad2: DH said that he would say something to this other man (the gentleman who interviewed him for the position) hopefully tomorrow when he goes in.

I guess you could say I'm a little depressed right now! I know it's not the end of the world and nobody is saying that we can't ever go, but when you've been looking forward to something, like I have this cruise for our family, for so long and then something happens that may alter your plans...well you know. Not looking for a pity party, just needed to get it out I guess. Maybe we'll know more tomorrow, good or bad.

The other big deal with this November (not meaning to shun you Nana's, don't take this the wrong way), is that on our last cruise last November we really connected with the family from England (our tablemates) and we planned this particular cruise date so that we could cruise together again! We were really looking forward to seeing them again! (I know this is getting long, but this part shows how bad we all wanted to cruise together again). While onboard we talked, agreed, and booked to cruise the 4-night Wonder again this November but when "we" got home I was looking over the information the DCL rep gave me on the ship about the 7-night Magic cruise and talked DH into changing if our friends wanted to change; so I e-mailed our new friends (we exchanged e-mail addresses) and told them our thoughts and they actually wanted to change their reservation along with us so that we could all cruise together...that's how our 4-night Wonder cruise turned into a 7-night Magic cruise...then I found you guys. So yes I am :sad1: Okay, sorry, I'm finished...for now.

Good Luck...things happen for a reason. If it's meant for you the sail with us than you will.:thumbsup2 I have a state job and they are super easy when it comes to vacations. I am sure the person at orientation was making it worse than it should be...HR tends to do that.

I agree with Christine...I think that HR does seem like its worse than it really is....once he talks with this other person tomorrow things might change. So keep your spirts up and I'm sure you will be cruising with us and your other new friends.....

Stopping in to say good night.

Pam, Good luck. Hope your wishes come true.

Loved the joke Shell! :lmao:

Inspector Cruiseau on the job. This is gonna be one of my toughest cases, seems like nearly everyone on this cruise has issues. Elmer and Verna seem to be about the only ones with no cause for wonder. I am currently researching and watching with diligence for the Hiccups in their own home town and without a doubt this mystery has become obviously riddled with turns and twists. He who is diligent will prevail, for the prevailing wind is sour when standing down wind. On a sweeter note, Only those who perservere will overcome the sour wind, because this wind will pass. The moral of this story is: Only those who stand down wind will suffer.

Don't need to wrap (oh what a pain-in-the-butt job that would be, plus you can't bring wrapped gifts on a plane). And no, you don't need to put who it's from.

pixiedust: For Pam and Glen pixiedust: It will all work out for the best, regardless of the result!

Dawn ... which recipes did you want in particular?

Also, made some AWESOME super-easy redskin potatoes yesterday:

3 T margarine
1 T honey
1 t. dry mustard
salt & pepper to taste

Cut redskins in half and lay flat in a baking dish. Melt margarine and mix with all other ingredients, pour over potatoes, bake for 35 minutes (or until tender) at 375, mixing half way thru the baking time. Mmmmmmmmmmm ..... we had them with Caribbean-spiced grilled shrimp and it was unbelievable!!!

Thanks Terri

Terri - I use InsureMyTrip.com to find a good rate. Best I have found (and used on the last 2 cruises is TravelEx "Lite" policy. I think it is costing us $144 for the Nov. cruise which is less than half the cost of the DCL coverage and seems to have all the same features. I believe BobGA used them in 06 and actually had to cash in because he got sick and said they were very good.
