Yikes. Page 3. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Now that I got that other post out of the way I can respond to yours. It was a decent weekend. Rained yesterday so DD was bored. Fill in the whining.
Saturday was decent day but again DD was mad at me. It was my birthday and I had the audacity to have the scheduled GS meeting. Apparently I was supposed to cancel it and do something fun. I guess she doesn't quite understand that when you turn XX age you just don't need to alert the media and have a blow out party.
It was community days in our town at the park behind our house though so I just kept telling her that DH invited the whole town to my party, free hot dogs, burgers and ice cream and then fireworks once it got dark. This was her response. It was the kind of day I liked - low key!! I guess 9 y.o.'s think differently!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Key West day - 2 months from now.

love your updates. So at this time in 2 months, we'll still be approaching Key West. Not a huge fan of this port but I love this day because it means the cruise is really just beginning. By now we are unpacked, kids have hit the clubs at least once. I've had my first glass of fairytale champagne. We've had our first great night's sleep to the rocking of the ship. Probably will be out on the verandah right about now, having some coffee, watching Key West approaching.

I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready.

We are actually starting to book details of our summer vacation - which is a week in Greece followed by the DCL 11 night Med cruise from Barcelona. Airfare. Hotels in Athens and Barcelona Ferry ride to and from the island where my wife's family is from and trying to get back to the mainland in time to get a flight to barcelona Thank goodness I have the best travel agent in America to get me through this one.

I am hoping to book this cruise by the days' end as we just need to be sure my DH can get this week off as we originally were going to do the cruise in December.

I am so excited as to the stops the cruise make and hope for input on what would be good excursions at each stop.

We are a family of 4 in NY. DH Steve, Me Jessica, DD9 Rachel and DD7 Cara. This will be our 3rd DCL cruise, although it is our first 7 day cruise.

Well, I look forward to getting excited with you all.

Welcome Jessica!!!!!!

I'm Jeff, traveling with DW Mina, DD11Elizabeth and DD5Emily. We are organizing a cruise meet on the first day (Saturday at 2:45 p.m.) so that we can put faces to names and the kids can meet. Also doing Fish Extender exchange that Nessa is organizing.

Oh and a nanahead is this. Started a few cruises ago with a bunch of us who cruised together for several years but I am the only remaining nanahead going on this cruise (except for Madduck who never posts!)

Jessica - I'm glad you found us. My DD is 9 - Mackenzie. She would love to meet another girl her age. It's also myself (Allison) and DH (Mark).
This is our second cruise. We did the Eastern earlier in the year and couldn't wait to do another. Hope you can make it!

Jeff - Your summer vacation sounds amazing! I'm envious that you can take so much time off at once. The trip sounds fabulous. I went to Greece once. Ended up being during a heat wave. People were dying due to the heat. It was 116 one day - at least that's what they told us. And it was hotter than all hell!!!
I didn't know you guys were doing the Med cruise. That sounds like a blast. Of course once they announced their big Grand Ball in St. Petersburg, I really want to do the Baltic cruise now. heck, I want to do any cruise.

Thanks Allison. It's a crazy itinerary because we really want to get to Greece to see the relatives but it seemed easier in theory to get from Greece to Barcelona for the cruise. It will be a nutso time but I'm sure it will be the trip of a lifetime.

Just got all our restaurants booked for our post-Christmas trip to WDW. Got almost everything we wanted with two exceptions so we'll just have to make those top priorities for the easter trip.

Allison - Yes, thanks to your suggestion I managed to find the boards. We are excited and I hope I get the go ahead tonight to book the cruise because it is filling up fast! I love cruising too! This is my 5, but only 3 with DCL.

Jessica - hope the Nov 28th works out for you. I have 3 girls and a son - my older girls are almost 9 and 7 so that should be good match for your girls. I am thinking I will try to move my 7r old to the older kids club with my 9 yr old - what about you? My younger 2 will be in the 3-7 group.

Luckily my DH gave me the go ahead to book the 28th. So hopefullyafter I get the kids in bed I'll go ahead and book it! Hooray! What a nice size family you have! Last year I tried to get them to let my younger DD go with the older group and they wouldn't let me, so I hadn't thought of trying again this year. Maybe I will atleast try. Especially since my younger DD is a little more apprehensive this year about staying. It seems every year one of my kids is uncomfortable with kids club! Will you be doing WDW too? Jessica

We are flying from CA and coming in Friday 11/27 so no WDW this time - I think 8 nights will be enough for us with 4 kids! As for kids club, I heard that sometimes they will let kids move up to older group if mature enough, etc. This is our first cruise so not sure how they will all do in kids club - I guess we will play it by ear. My biggest wild card is my 3 yr old son - just started preschool and was not super easy transition but after a couple weeks he is doing just fine. Keeping fingers crossed for a little quiet time with my DH!!

Glad the 11/28 cruise works for your family - look forward to meeting you all.

Glad to hear you are joining us! Make sure to send me a private message if you are going to come to the cruise meet. It's a great chance for kids to meet each other and at least have a familiar face for the first time they go to the clubs. My oldest usually even tries to coordinate a time to go to the club the first day with someone she meets at the meet. they may not hang out together for the whole cruise, but it's a great way to get them both comfortable when they go in for the first time and meet other kids!

Abby will be 7 yrs and 11 months old so I'm really hoping they let her move up because she is mature for her age and really doesn't want to be with the little one's. I know she would love to meet both of your DD's.

I highly recommend talking to the counselors on day one and getting your older daughter bumped up to the 8-10 group. We cruised when my oldest was a month shy of her 8th birthday and she did not enjoy the club that trip (only time it happened) because she was ready for the next step up. We could have moved her up but didn't realize it until it was too late...

Wow its really getting closer now, better start planning what to pack! I am planning on taking 2 suitcases each ,.mostly for bringing back gifts. Can anyone fill me in on wether this would be to many for our room, there are 4 of us in a cat. 9, my grandkids are gonna want to shop as well so each of us would be bringing the extra case. My grandson will most likely want to purchase a new skateboard from the blackpearl skatepark in Grand Cayman so that alone is going to take up some space!

Thanks for all the dining tips we have made lots of good reservations for the week before the cruise, but still have to work out post cruise.

shellfish_mickfish My TA told us that anyone who booked cat 12 with 4 people was always upgraded to Cat 11 (at least) as cat 12 is too small for 4. Since we haven’t ever sailed before I am not sure if that is correct, but it sounds good
