Much better day at Kindergarten. Em finally expressed that she just misses her old school. She went to the same preschool/daycare from 3 months old to just a week or so ago and it's really the best in the city so I guess I understand her being scared and nervous and sad. Hopefully she will get more used to Kindergarten and start having fun soon. No tears today at school (just at home before school) so thats a step in the right direction.

What's up with the rest of the cruisers here ? We are heading to the Pitt football game tomorrow then a pool party with friends on Sunday.

have a great weekend all!

I'm so glad! My DD gets really attached to things too but luckily we didn't run into that when she went to preschool. She starts Kindergarten next week and she's already asked me to go with her. I told her I would meet the bus at the school. So, we'll see how it goes.

Jeff glad to hear Emily is on her way to having fun at school, each day should get better and better now! I went and paid off the cruise yesterday yipee! , now I just need to work at paying off all the excursions and all the other money I will be spending!LOL haven t heard anymore about FE., was thinking about starting to look for things to put in them, thats if everyone is a go with it? Anyone else starting to purchase gifts? Havent even made mine yet, so much to do and so little time!:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is well, sorry I haven’t posted in awhile and i'm still catching up on what been happening in the thread.
We haven’t planned any shore excursions yet but have booked most of the things to do with the wedding onboard.

I've also been finishing up making our FE's, somehow I have landed the job of making all the FE's for our group and i'm the only one with no sewing ability :rotfl2:

Well good luck. I hope your early days are nothing like ours. This has been the most exhausting week of my life.

We haven't done anything yet. But that's pretty typical around here. We go from one minor crisis to another and then the fun stuff sneaks up on us! I forgot who was organizing the FE list. Has anyone volunteered to organize an onboard meet? If not, I'm happy to collect names (PM me) of those interested. Not sure if there was consensus on time/day but I'd personally like to do it on first day of the cruise - around 3 or so just before the boat drill so that our kids can meet. We can meet in the Promenade Lounge which has always worked for past cruises.

BTW, Lizzie and Tori have been emailing each other so that's a good start! Didn't realize her brother was the same age as my little one, Emily. So they will be in the club together!

Geez, with planning your wedding you'd think someone would jump in and offer to do the FEs!!!!!

Hey all,
We're around. Definitely starting to think about the cruise more. I'm trying to get some last minute deals on clothes before all the winter stuff takes over.

Jeff - Glad to hear that Emily is doing better. I hope she continues to get better.
I'm definitely up for a meet. First day is fine but I would think a little earlier than 3 maybe. :confused3 Don't we have to be at the drill by 4? I know we always go early because DH uses a scooter. However, since you were so kind to plan it, we'll come no matter when it is. :thumbsup2

Nessa, I can't believe your family is having you do the FE. Sounds like something my family would "let" me do. :rotfl2:

Work has been busy so I'm glad its finally a 3 day weekend. Next day off is the cruise.

In the past we have met at 2:45 p.m. but that has been when we've had an organized gift exchange which we are not doing this time to my knowledge. Other cruises I've been on, we have met for about a half hour just to get to meet each other. Maybe 2:45 p.m. would be better.

How about anyone interested in doing a meet at 2:45 on day one, PM me and we'll figure out if it makes sense to go forward.

Thanks!

jeff

Hello! I stumbled onto this site and thought I would include my group to the list. I am by myself (hubby has to stay home for work), but I'm tagging along with my parents, in-laws, sister and her hubby w/kids Colin (9), Caleb (7), Chloe (5), and Catie (2), and three groups of friends from their church along with their children and some of their parents! Total: 30 cruisers

This is my very first cruise and have been somewhat overwhelmed at times with the excursions. I haven't read through all of these posts, so I'm sorry if this has been answered many times before. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? And would anyone recommend not going through DCL for tours? One last thing...does anyone know if Cozumel is closed to visitors due to the swine flu?
Thanks so much!
Britney

Welcome gravediggergirl. this is our first cruise as well but this site has loads of info so just keep reading.I do know that cozumel is open. we are planning an excursion at dolphinaris there. What fun it will be for you to be travelling with such a large group the more the merrier! There are lots of others here who have been on past cruises so Im sure you will find all your questions answered, just wanted to say hi and welcome you!:thumbsup2

Hey guys-
Getting really nervous here.My DH and my mom had passport issues, DH got his within 2 weeks of resubmitting and we are still waiting of my moms.I know we don't "need" them but I am always worried about the worse case scenario.I would have like it all taken care of before last payment was due on the 14th.

I am getting really anxious. She was born and raised here with no issues- what gives???

Okay, I'll PM you but we're in. :thumbsup2 I'm one of those people that is always early and my DH is even worse. We're the type that will be sitting at the parking lot waiting for the gates to open to let us in at 10 a.m. We know we'll have to sit at the terminal but its better than being stuck in traffic.
And when DH tells DD to be ready to leave at one time, he really means that you need to be ready 15 minutes earlier. :lmao: Oh well.

Welcome!! It's going to be a great cruise and it sounds wonderful to travel with so many friends and family. Well, okay wonderful for you. I'd have to kill my perpetually late sister (see above note). :lmao: DSis is the type that could only book DCL excursions otherwise she would always miss the boat. :lmao:

As for Coz, it's open. It was only closed for about a month. We are doing the Royal Dolphin Swim at Chakanaab. We booked that separately as DCL doesn't do the Royal Swim. Jeff (the guy with the pluto avi) can give you better advice as he's done this cruise before.

:grouphug: I know this stinks but as long as your DM has her birth certificate she should be fine. They did send that back, right?? Is there anyone you can call, maybe a senator or congressman?? I would give it another week or two and than escalate it to one of them. Maybe they can get involved. :confused3 I'll keep good thoughts for you.

Thanks Allison, no they still have the birth certificate. Can we get another copy I wonder?

We do have a senator in town we went to school with but man it should not come to that- good honest people should be able to have it done in a snap- I don't get this.

Thanks Linda

Nessa, you aren't suppose to be MAKING the FE's for everyone. I thought you were doing the ORGANIZING.....Making the list of who is participating and collecting the room numbers as assigned and amking a schedule if that is what we are doing.

Boy....this thread is really quiet this weekend. Either everyone is enjoying the Holiday of possibly so excited about leaving in 80 days that they are too busy packing and planning!

Jeff, since you are the veteran here, would you mind organizing the FE since Nessa already has plenty to do with wedding plans? She's volunteering for things she doesn't even know she's volunteering for...although it would be nice if someone made my FE!

Wow! 30 people in 1 group! That is going to be some vacation!

It was a beautiful weekend here in the Northeast so I bet everyone was outside enjoying it. We just got back from our local baseball team. DD's dance team was sponsoring the fireworks, etc. tonight and her group was dancing. It was a great night. DD danced beautifully but is now completely tuckered out. Her allergies kicked in big time and she is completely congested. Poor kid. But she danced beautifully and DH caught a foul ball for her. She was psyched!! :thumbsup2

We did start working on our FE gifts. If Nessa gets too busy to coordinate, I told her that I would help her out with that. I don't believe that she's making us FE but her group that she's traveling with. Making us FE would be very nice though. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

It was beautiful here in MN too! Sorry to hear about your DD's allergies. Sounds like you all had a good time anyway though.

That makes more sense - that she would be making them for HER whole group! I guess I really wasn't thinking. Too excited I guess. I booked airfare today! Just counting down the days now.

Busy week for everyone - School starts, dance starts, bowling for me starts so it will be a little crzy. We'll keep checking in.

Payment due in less than 1 week and still no passport- not crazy about not knowing and paying in full.I called our local senator last night.

Beautiful weekend here too.Summer is gone, now time to think about the trip and I can't because I am too nervous to enjoy it.

Don't panic about the passport. You really don't need them yet for closed circuit cruises. I know you are worried about having them in case of an emergency, but if something should happen there are things that can be done, it will just take a little longer to get home. Besides you have time from final payment till the cruise for everything to work out.pixiedust:

Looks like most of you have young kiddies from the talk about school, dance classes & football. DH and I just became Empty Nesters in June when our DS (22) moved out. Our DD (35) left for college 18 years ago and moved out officially 10 years ago to move in with her DH. This is really interesting, not having to worry about anyones schedule but our own.

Actually I've only participated in FE one time so I'm not such the veteran. I'm happy to do the meet but the FE is beyond my expertise...

Haven't yet booked anything for this cruise besides an evening at Palo, but was contemplating a sub or semi sub at Grand Cayman. Just wondering if anyone one else has ever done one of these excursions and whether they enjoyed it or not.

Thanks,

Janice

We actually did the semi sub when we were in Grand Cayman for a weeklong vacation a number of years ago. We really really liked it. And we have done it in other places (including Maui) but GC was a better experience by far. I'd recommend it.
