Spoke with our TA today and she informed me that DCL has gone back to just 2 dinner times, 5:45 and 8:15. There is also a casual dinner option with a menu rather than a buffet. We are at second dinner. We took ourselves off the wait list for first dinner. Want to try second dinner for a change. Have always had first dinner in the past.

We have bounced back between early and late dinner and there is really no great solution for us. Our five year old is a challenge at either. What we have come to like about late dinner is that she is more likely to go to the club to play either instead of dinner or as soon as she is done eating. On our April sailing they were doing "Dine and Play" where they served the kids immediately who wanted to go to the clubs and then we had a much more relaxing dinner. So we are set for late dining again in november.

On our last (and only cruise so far) we had the earlier dining which worked out well for us, it was nice doing dinner then a show.

We have the later dining on this cruise , so we'll see how that works out. The earlier time was already full by the time we booked this cruise.

Nessa-How exciting to have a Disney wedding! Congratulations!

Happy Anniversary to Jeff & Mina!

Janice - we really thought we could only do early and thought we liked the way the evening broke down (dinner, show, stuff in Studio Sea) but the last couple of cruises that we had early we didn't do a good job of doing the things we liked. SO......on our last cruise we booked late and found that it worked better because we felt less rushed in port (esp. Castaway Cay) and came back and hung out on the pool deck and let the kids swim and then got ready for the show (or not) and it just worked out better. So even though it's not easy for the 5 year old, late is better overall for the family and we'll probably never book early again. We are taking a Southern Med next summer and think that with the port intensive itinerary it would be most important to have late dining. If I'm in Italy, I want to eat dinner in Italy (not on the ship) as often as possible. But in case we run out of time to do so, then we can do the late dinner on the ship.

Hi everyone.
We had been considering changing this cruise to the Oct. 31 sailing but I think we are set to keep it now! Let the planning begin. Had to make a decision soon since full payment is due shortly.

I'm in day two of what I hope to be a two-day migraine. Don't get them often but when they hit. Ouch. :sad1:

So it's time to get more folks to join our merry little troop here. I think I'll start trolling on CC and on the general dis boards to see if anyone mentions they are taking this cruise.

I still have a ton of work to do over the next 2 weeks before we leave for Hawaii ands I'm sure that's contributing to my migraine...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

jeff

Morning all!
Hope you're feeling better Jeff.

Weekend went too quickly. Why does that always happen???
I was supposed to have about 3 to 4 hours to myself yesterday. Figured I could do a little shopping in Wal-Mart and plop my butt on the couch and either nap or watch crappy TV. :lmao:
Nope, went to drop DD off at a playdate and the mom wanted to chat. Umm okay, but not to sound like a bad mommy but I just wanted to drop and run. :rotfl2: Then Dsis called. She was having car problems and could she borrow my spare for a week. That took coordination between all parties and my DH that was on his way home. Then DBIL decided to stay and visit with my nephew. While I love them all, I really just wanted to throw them out and say "I've only got 45 minutes left to relax!!!" Nope, they walked out the door just in time for my to go pick up DD. Oh well. The cruise in coming, right??? I'll relax then. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Have a good day everyone!! :)

I have never seen this thread so dead. I was the last to post yesterday morning & nothing has been posted since. Have I entered the Twilight Zone?

Hi, everyone! I have been crazy busy at work, but am sooo looking forward to finally putting together my spreadsheet for this trip and starting to figure out excursions, etc.

I think we are going to rent an electric car in Key West and will probably do a jeep excursion in Cozumel, but haven't figured out anything else. How about everyone else?

Just saw your post and wanted to give a tip about the jeep excursion in Cozumel. We did it last November. First it is a very good tour. The views once your away from the city are awesome and the lunch is very good, the guides were great too.:cool1:

If this is the same tour as us you drive the jeeps your self, is that right?
If so be warned if your in the drivers seat first (you can trade off with another driver if your jeep isnt filled by your group)
at the last minute as your about to pull out they have you sign another waiver saying you'll take complete responsibility for any damages to the jeep and you have insurance to cover all the damages.

But most american insurance companies will NOT cover you out of the U.S. unless you prearrange it with them and buy a special policy for that day.

I know the odds are slim of an accident but these are expensive jeeps and just in case you better make sure your covered or you could be running up a credit card to cover a fender bender there.:scared:

The return part of our trip there was a lot of traffic.
Now if you share your jeep with another driver and he drives first he will sign the paper and be responsible. That paper also makes you responsible for the other driver of your jeep if you let him have a turn driving.

They dont give you time enought to read this contract. Just sign and go!

we didnt relaize until we returned what we had signed. That was scary to think if the other man had crashed and hurt someone we would be liable for all costs, including medical:eek:
Maybe a guy could fight it in court but who wants to miss vacation and they do have yoru signature, so your stuck!
Just thought you should know, so you can talk with your insurance people before you go. It is a great excusrion and well worth the money.

Kathy -- Thanks for the heads' up on that. We will be sure to check with our insurance company on insurance issues related to the jeep, the electric car, and the car rental in FL. Fortunately, we've done the jeep excursion in Cozumel before (and LOVED it!) and I dont think we'll be sharing the jeep with anyone we don't know, so that will help, too. Howard did all the driving last time, IIRC and didn't mind it at all. He thought it was fun. Of course, doing what I do for a living, we wouldn't move an inch until I read the contract if he is going to drive/sign. LOL!

Thats good, I didnt know you had done the jeeps before. I know some dont think about the liability until they are in the jeeps then they are stuck.
Hope you have an awesome time.

when we did it a jeep came fast from the opposite direction and it was a young woman driving and another standing up, leaning against the roll bar, waving her arms over her head topless:rotfl2::rotfl2:
The couple driving with us asked the guide if she was a part of the tour, of course he said No and chuckled. Too bad he said I was going to give a really big tip for this excursion if she was included !!:lmao:

Hi all!

Busy work week. Boss is out of town. :upsidedow

Hope everyone is having a good day. Weather looks nice so I'm hoping to get out for a quick walk. I could use a good iced coffee!! :thumbsup2

We love Paradise Beach in Cozumel and will likely return there. Been there twice and had a fantastic time each time.

In GC, we hope to just hit 7 mile beach. It's one of our favorite beaches in the Caribbean. On our first Western, we rented a day room at the Westin and that was great fun. Last year, we were just going to go to one of the beaches where they rent chairs and spend the day but alas our ship never made it to GC...just circled around. So hopefully we WILL make it this year since it is a real highlight of the Western Itinerary for us. For Key West, I think we are going to stay on the ship. Been there enough that we have no interest in getting off. It will be a great day to enjoy the ship.

Busy week as well. DH and DS are getting ready to leave for a Order of the Arrow(Boy Scouts Natl Honor Society) Convention in Indianapolis. While they are gone I will spend a few of the days visiting an old friend in Peoria, Il

4 months from today we will be on the Magic!!!!!!!

Trying to book our pre and post-cruise stays and found that every single DVC room is booked :scared1::headache: for one of our days. So we are wait listed for Thanksgiving night, have BWV for Friday and SSR for the day we return. Really hope our waitlist clears because it would really stink to have to move from one room to another on those 2 days.

OMG! That would totally stink!

We're going to be at WDW before the cruise too. As I'm typing it, I'm thinking "Wow! What a coincidence." :rotfl2: It's been a really long day apparently. My brain has turned to mush!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Anyway, we are checking into BLT on Thanksgiving and hoping to book an ADR somewhere for dinner that night. :confused3 I have a feeling we may end up at the food court.

Well there is a semi-happy ending. We were able to get a studio (on cash) but using an annual pass discount, got a great price and the reservation agent linked them so we will not have to change rooms. :cool1: If our wait list comes through, it's fully refundable. :cool1: So it's a no lose situation.

Allison- we will have to think about a pre-cruise meet for a cocktail, perhaps. We are also planning to get an ADR for Thanksgiving - hopefully at Yachtsman Steak House (that's where we had T'giving dinner last year).
