I promised everyone an update on how our trip went with the guests that we had invited that were no longer speaking to us but still thought we should provide them a trip and transportation. They ended up going and driving our car (again DH said let's just do this and then not do anything for them again). DH, our kids and FIL left on Thanksgiving. FIL insisted that we needed to drive this trip as he felt that it was more cost effective. Guess what?! We saved a whooping $3 by driving! I added up the cost of the gas and the 2 rooms that we had to get for a total of 4 nights. I didn't include the wear and tear on the cars. Needless to say, unless airfare is horribly high, we will be flying from now on. We checked into OKW on Sunday and had room a dedicated 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom. One of the invited family members said they appreciated the room. The only problem that we had was that we were awaken the first 2 nights by this odd continuous noise outside. Finally at 3:30am I called to the front desk. I don't know what the noise was. There was a sprinkler close to the building and I thought maybe it was hitting it. But after our complaint, the noise stopped the next day. We met up with the guests to appease FIL at the ESPN club on Monday for lunch and then headed to MGM together. We then went with them to MVMCP on Tuesday. They basically cramped our style, and stood around trying to decide what to do next. Finally, we just said this is what we are doing. Come if you like. Other than that, they were on their own. Ours kids were upset because they didn't get to ride with their cousins and had several breakdowns. I felt terrible! We did do Stich which I was not impressed with. Basically, the entire attraction was a scaled down Alien Encounter. We pool hopped to BWV and SSR. The Donald Duck spraying things were out of service. We were told that the padding was causing problems and that it was supposed to have been repaired by TG and now they are hoping for Christmas. We did not like the SSR pool. The zero entry was great, but the slide concerned us because we couldn't see our kids climb up. Also, there is an alternate exit as they start up the steps to the slide. SSR is HUGE! I noticed on the map that there are 2 quiet pools and the main pool. These don't seem like enough to accomodate the size or the resort. Another issue we had was that our 3 YR Old met the 40 inches on Start Tours so we told her she would get to ride SM and BTMR. Guess what?! She didn't meet the 40 inches on SM and BTMR! One thing that I didn't do this time, that I told DH we would do, is relax in the living room. I have no idea where all of our trip went! We did go to Belz one day and the Premium Outlet another day. We discovered that there was a DS or Character Warehouse (not sure) at the PO so we will not be going back to Belz next time as PO is closer. Oh, the kids got their first picture with Santa at DTD, but refused to get their picture with us a the Christmas Party. I was glad to see that there were several photographers at the party this year, unlike 2 years ago, where there was only one in TL.
I am looking forwarded to our next trip, which will be the first one in several years without invited guests. We are going on the cruise in May and then spending 2 days at BWV. But FIL, is already saying he thinks he wants to go and hang out while we are on the cruise!
The last thing is we have taken 13 DVC trips since we purchased in 99 and I have to say that I agree with the "buy where you want to stay" mentality. I had originally booked at BWV, our home resort, then on a whim changed it to OKW thinking our guests would appreciate the space. But I missed BWV the entire time. When we pool hopped there, I was wishing I could just head back upstairs to my villa. From now on, if we are onsite, we will be staying at BWV!
We also went on the sleigh ride at WL. It is not something that I would suggest to anyone to do. It wasn't like a sleigh ride in the north with snow to light your way. It was very dark and we couldn't see a thing. We definately couldn't see the lights that I was told would be there when I made the ressies!
All in all we had a good time. We just planned our own things and tried not to worry about our relatives that were with us. We haven't heard from them since we got home.
Sorry for jumping around, let me know if you have any questions!
