Howdy,
I usually take the same clothes each cruise, but after 11 cruises I decided last time I needed on new outfit, just slacks and a blouse. One more for next month and i will be all set . I usually just bring a jacket to put on over the same dress to makeit look like a different outfit for photos and such.

You WONT see the Wonder. It is in Drydock unless you found a web cam for the ship yards in Virginia :rotfl2: I shouldnt laugh, they may have a web cam there, dont know for sure. Actually I caught myself looking for the Wonder this morning too. Just habit I guess. :rotfl:

It sounds like you are about ready for Hawaii. when are you going?? :confused3
I have never been, but I have friends who have gone there and just loved it!! :cloud9:

Kathy

:boat: Happy Columbus Day

It was nice and cool this morning, around 60. Boy that felt good!!!

Well we ladies all know the importance of Columbus Day, right???
SALES !! SALES !! SALES!! and more SALES!!

Anybody got today of for the holiday??
My DH has to work, but that's ok, it means ,more money for the cruise when it gets here!!

we did get a new VCR, you can record a VHS tape to a DVD on it too. All our cruise movies are on VHS tapes, so now we can transfer them over to a DVD so it will last longer. Tapes wear out after a few viewings. It better work good for what it cost!! Too bad it wasnt on sale for Columbus Day, but no such luck.

Not much else happening around here. DS is at work, DH is getting ready to go to work in a few minutes. Minnie is curled up on the couch getting ready for a nap after DH leaves.

I will check back later.
I have another question to help us have something to talk about here.

Are any of you doing any kind of count down activity at your house for the crusie? Or are you planning on doing something at the 1 year mark??
Some people make paper chains they hang from the walls and remove a link each day with how many days are left written on it.
I have never done this, but I am thinking about doing something for this cruise at the one year mark, any ideas of what to do?? :confused3

Kathy

Hope you're all enjoying your day so far.

Unfortunately, I don't have Columbus Day off. I'm working. The good news is that it makes for less traffic on the road. So, hopefully my trip home will be quicker. :moped:

Christine - How did your shopping trip go yesterday....find any clothes for vacation?

Kathy - glad to hear you were able to find your new VHS. So, who's project is it going to be to transfer all your VHS to DVD? Can I just tell you in my house, my dh started this project two years ago and hasn't made a whole lot of progress :rotfl2:

I haven't started a countdown activity for my kids yet. I might do that in January. BUT, for my DSIL and myself, I send her the new countdown number every Monday. As of today, we have 407 days!

Hi everyone,

Kay, DH will start transfering stuff and he will make sure I know how to do it, then he will say I have more time than him, so maybe during the week I could get it done :rotfl2: I have been married almost since dinosaurs roamed the earth, so I know what to expect.
But it is true, I am retired so I do have the time. as long as it's simple :confused3 I dont mind.

well I never made it shopping today. Instead the weather was so perfect I took Minnie for a good walk around the neighborhood, then put her in the car and drove 5 minutes to a local park where we walked some more on their trails, then back home where it was just to nice to stay inside, so Minnie and I each laid back on the patio on a comfy lounge chairs and took a nap.

Tomarrow morning I am taking a short 10 minute drive to wal mart to meet lady from from cruise next month. we have never met and live so close we decided it would be fun to meet before the cruise. It should be fun. :cool1:

Well that is all for today, hope everyone is well.

i will check back in the morning,

Kathy

Good morning,

well today I am off to meet Patricia, a lady who will be cruising with us next month. that should be fun.

I have a question for those of you have had or still have a dog.
Minnie has decided to start digging. She doesnt dig in the yard, but around our pool enclosure there is a 2 foot wide strip of sandy soil, covered in bark mulch. This sandy soil is where she is digging. The real problem is when she digs she gets all the way down to the electrical stuff for the pool lights. If she tries to bite at it or pull it with her mouth, it is high voltage and it will kill her!!! She digs other areas that are soft sand too, not just that one place.

I did put cayenne pepper there to try to detour her, but it didnt bother her at all. Now I need to break her of this bad habit before she gets hurt or killed. Any ideas of how to break her of this would be greatly appreciated. I know a shock collar would do it, but I dont want that, I know I couldnt shock her, I dont believe in shock collars, but I dont want her getting electricuted either.
we can put in some plants or concrete stones to help cover that area, but it is a huge area around the pool and patio so it will be a few hundred dollars to do this. We had thought about chicken wire and cover it with mulch. she can't dig through that, but it may cut her paws too.

I am going to Petco today to see if I can find a book with some ideas in it, but if any of you have any ideas or have delt with this kind of problem, please let me know. I would appreciate any ideas you may have.
Thanks

we have another great monring. I even opened up some of the windows this morning. Usually it is too hot to do that in the morning, it makes the air conditioner come on. but today I can air out the house, I love it when I can do that.

well I should go and get ready to go to Petco and to meet Pat.
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Hey, did you get your puppy yet???
They were all so cute, I would have such a terrible time trying yo pick one, I would want them all!!!

kathy

Kathy - Have fun with Patricia!

Sorry I don't have any ideas about your dog. I've never owned a dog that digs holes.

Hi,
well I had agreat meeting with Pat, she was so nice and happy to meet me. Only because she doesnt know how mischievous I can be :rotfl2:

I did stop at Petco and got some ideas for my dog, I will tell DH about them tonight and we will se what he says.
I looked at a few things for door signs but I still need to think about it, we have along time yet and some things may change by then. I still need to make something for the cruise next month.

well I need to have a late lunch, :stir:
have a great Tuesday everyone,

kathy

Glad you found some ideas at Petco because I have none. My dogs are too small to dig

I won't get my puppy until Nov 19th. She was only 5 days old in the picture and you can't get puppies until they are 6 weeks old which is when we will be leaving for Hawaii. So I have to wait until I get back. I am going to ask the breeder is she could send me more pictures this way I can watch as she gets older.

We are having beautiful weather here too. I have had my doors and windows open every night. I love letting fresh air into the house.

TTFN :Pinkbounc

Yes, Kay my next cruise is 11/25/06.

Christine,
when the breeder sends you pictures I hope you will share with us!! Puppies are so cute!!!

karen, are you still with us??
We havnt heard from you for awhile. Hope you well.

Kathy

Christine - I bet you just can't wait to have the puppy home. Didn't you say you had another dog? How do you think they'll react to the puppy? I can't wait to see more pictures

Kathy - Do you have any DIS meets on your cruise next month?

Well, it sounds like my dd needs my help, so I'll try and check back later.

Hello,
Kay,
yes we have a meet at 3:00 p.m.the first day in the Promenade lounge.
I made sure of that. :thumbsup2 The meets are actually one of the highlights of our cruises. ;)
Then you have faces to go with names and you see each other all week long all over the ship. :yay:

I hope to have a meet for us at the same place and time.
The resaon for this is, the Promenade lounge is big, lots of tables and chairs there, easy to find for new people, never anything going on in there the first day in the early afternoon.
There is a bar if someone wants a drink.
3:00 p.m. is a great time because people are on the ship by then and had time to check out their room, kids clubs and dinner reservations, plus we have 1 hour before the safety drill,so you can visit alittle or a lot for that hour.
The first day, works best because once the cruise starts people are all over the place doing lots of fun things and they will either forget about the meet or not want to miss an event on the ship to come.

That is why we chose that time and place,. It has worked great for me 4 different times so far.. :woohoo:

well time to go, I will check back later,
Kathy

Oh my goodness,'we were 1/2 way down page 2!!!!! :sad2:

I decided we needed to be bumped up.
i want everyone to know we are here. :thumbsup2

I found 2 more families on our cruise but they are on another crusie site :woohoo: but if I invite them to post here, they will delete my thread there. :confused3 So I am trying to figure out a way to let them know about us so we can be all on the same thread. There is no PM system there either or I would just PM them.

It will take a while but I will figure out something so we can all post together here. I will still keep posting there too until we can reslove this. I have 4 other cruise boards I post on in hopes of finding more people to join us, I am determined!!!! :goodvibes

well have a good day,
I will try to keep us bumped up better!!!

Kathy

Hope everyone is doing well this afternoon :)

I've got a 1/2 hour left before I'm done working, so I thought I'd check in to see how everyone is doing.

Kathy - YGG! Where there's a will, there's a way. :thumbsup2

Anything special going on tonight? It's a school night here, so we'll have a normal (hopefully quiet) night. House and Bones are on tonight, so we'll be glued to the tv later. :happytv:

Hi ,
well nothing special tonight around here. it was trash day i that counts :rotfl2: .

Minnie is chewing up her tug o war rope :sad2: and dinner is cooking. DH is still at work, wednesday he often a little later due to bills!! DS went to work hours ago and wont get home until about 1:30 a.m.

I did the :laundy: today and some grocery shopping.
WOW what an exciting day :woohoo:

I will check back later, hope everyone has a good evening, :dance3:

Kathy

Kathy, I am looking forward to the meet. My first cruise I had food posioning and spent the entire first day except for the drill and dinner in the room. I really would like to get more out of my first day than watching a Hilary Duff movie :happytv: Especially if there is a bar involved :drinking1

I have been watching the news about the horrible plane crash in NY. There might have been a Yankee pitcher on the plane. It just brings back so many memories of 9/11. My Mom is a little freaked out because we are flying on 11/11. I actually don't like that date either but it was the best day to fly to Hawaii for us. Oh well, whatever is ment to happen will.

Not much else going on here

TTFN

Hi,
i saw about the plane wreck too.
It i amazing there wern't more people injured. I think everyone is a little freaked out after 9/11 for flying anytime.

I have never liked to fly. I am terrified of the turbulance. I do fly when I have to, but a seldom as I can. I have taken the train across the US a few times by myself, just to avoid having to fly.

That is terrible that your were sick the first day of your cruise last time!! Thank goodness it didnt last the entire cruise!!

My girlfriend got streped throat the first day of her first cruise. she had to see the doctor and got antibiotics. She was in bed the entire trip until they got to CC, then she managed to find a hammock to lay in and she slept the entire day, then got back on board and slept until time to get off at the port.
I really felt bad for her.

well time to do the dishes,
have a good evening all,

Kathy

Thought I'd be watching Bones and House tonight, but it looks like baseball is on. DH is watching Bone Collector and I've got some time on the computer.

I heard about the plane crash right on my way home. I can't imagine how everyone there felt. I just read that the pitcher left behind a wife and a six year old son. How very sad....

Kathy, I forgot to respond to your post about the DIS meet. It sounds like a lot of fun - can't wait to see everyone. Hopefully our little group will grow.

Christine - Do you think you got food poisoning from the food aboard the ship? Poor thing, I bet you were miserable.

Well, I guess I'd better get to bed. G'night all.

WOW, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

this is post #500 already. :thumbsup2
we are going to have a lot of posts by cruise time.

I know more will join us as we get closer to our cruise. Lots of people book a year out and we are appraoching the 1 year mark. :grouphug:

I always look for dates on peoples responses on the forum. If I see our date i ask them to join us here. :cheer2:

well have a great Thursday everyone,
I will check back soon,

Kathy
