11-23-2008 DCL per-Thanksgiving 3 night Wonder cruise!!

hello everyone. Me and my then to be wife are going on this cruise as our honeymoon. Were getting married on the 19th november at seabreeze point @ Disney World:)

Congratulations! How exciting! I guess we won't see too much of you on the ship if you are on your honeymoon. LOL.

Sorry I have been MIA for so long. Work and life have taken over the past couple of months. We are really starting to get excited about the cruise and WDW vacation. We received a trip planner from DCL yesterday. It has information on shore excursions, what to pack, etc. I can't wait to book Palo and spa treatments! Thank goodness we booked our Continental flights in February. The airfares are now so $$$$$.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to check in more often.

I got my trip planner yesterday too. I was very excited. I didn't know that they sent that. I guess there is not really anything in there I didn't already know, but it is nice to look at.

I am getting so excited for this trip. I need to get away.

:welcome: mrshindig, congrats on getting married.

Trip planner? I didn't get one of those. Whats in it?

I was on another thread of someone who just finished a 3 day cruise. He said that there is 1 night thats optional formal. He said almost NO one got dressed up. He said it was a very informal trip. Good to know. Makes packing easier.

Yea you could put us on the list!!

A few Questions.....
I've heard its a good idea to take you own beer onboard!! Is this true, is there a fridge in the room, and if not how much is a beer or glass of wine onboard. Can't seem to find bar prices anywhere!!

Not long left now

I am not sure about the prices, but I was planning on bring a bottle of wine or a 6 pack. My Dh and I don't really drink very much, but I think it would be nice to have a glass of wine. I am pretty sure the corkage fee is $15, and they will charge you that even if you come to the table with the bottle already open. I read that people open the bottle in their room and fill their glasses and take them to dinner. Of course, this is all second hand information because this is my first Disney Cruise.

Piloow, the trip planner was pretty basic. It had the information about the excursions and ports of call. There was also information about the insurance.

WOW guys I was checking to see prices for our in-laws who might come with us and guess what everyone!!

The Wonder Nov.23rd cruise is sold out!::yes::

No rooms what so ever, not even for just the 2 adults that I was tring to get for my inlaws!!
Crazy.

Did you ever find anything for them? I saw another online TA that seemed like they might have some rooms blocked out still.

Would they come all the way from Sweden?

Hey,

My in-laws changed there dates to come and now are coming Dec. - Jan.
We did find a room for them on the DCL but paying for the air over here and then again to MCO was really alot for them to pay on top of the price increase of the Disney Cruise.:(
Yes they will be flying over from Sweden.:) My DH was born and raised there. He is a Swed.LOL

It is odd about our friends who said they cancelled because she keeps checking air? I asked why and she said she was just wondering if it will maybe go down? So maybe they are still keeping the cruise on hold but I don't think they will end up coming because she only can't fly out any ealier then the Thur. before and the price for her would be $600 each!! And that is 5 air tickets for them.:scared1:

$600 per person is a lot for airfare. I might even consider driving if we had 5 people. I would stop checking airfare if I canceled the cruise. If the flights went down now I would not want to know. Maybe they are holding on to the reservation for now.

We are going also.

ME (DW)

Any one care to wager on the number of fights that will occur??? :rotfl2:

My son will be 4 also. We watched the travel channel special on DCL the other day and I think DS is excited. Of course, for some reason he started begging to go to DW last night. He never asks to go so I don't know where that came from. I guess he is getting older and knows what he likes.

hi
my daughter 10 and me will be on the cruise. it looks like this cruise is going to be a crowded with just two cat left to pick from. :surfweb:

Hi all -- Great to see this is already such an active group! We'll be joining you all for this cruise as well:
Me (DW)
DH
DS#1 - will be 8 by cruise time
DS#2 - will be 6 by cruise
MIL

This will be our 3rd DCL cruise, all 3-nighters -- in fact, we went on the pre-T'giving cruise last year! It's hard for DH to get away from work but this time frame works well -- plus the boys don't have to miss much school. This cruise will be MIL's first Disney cruise and her 70th b-day present from us. We are driving to Disney a few days prior and spending Friday at the parks as it will be the last day of our season passes! (T'giving was earlier last year -- we activated them the day we got off the Wonder.) Saturday will be a time to rest up, pick up MIL from her flight and get over to the port hotel. We like to be early on the ship so we can enjoy lunch and the pool.

For those of you who have been on DCL before...question about Castaway Cay. My mom doesn't do well in direct sun. Can you rent private cabanas, or is shade available? I am thinking of buying a pop up portable cabana/sun shade type thing, but before I do, thought I would ask the experts on here!?!?

All my comments are about the fmaily beach since I didn't go to the adults one. There's not any private cabanas that I've seen. However, there are tons of beach umbrellas there with moveable beach chairs as well as few hammocks (get these early). Everything is free -- but first-come-first-to-throw-your-stuff-on. There's plenty of shade if you don't want to get close to the water. My advice would be to keep walking on the sidewalk once you get to the family beach (it's quite large but most people immediately turn in) and then turn into the beach area once you are past Cookies (the lunch place). You should be able to find plenty of shaded area as long as you get there early to get something. And remember, you don't have to stay on the beach all day -- your mom could head back to the ship whenever she choose if it's esp. bright.

Yes, and theres a little shuttle that will transport her back to the ship if she doesn't want to walk. Oh, I can't wait - wish we were there 2 days instead of just the one!

I can't remember . . . is food on Castaway Cay included or do we have to pay extra? And most importantly, is there a place to get margheritas?

Jodie

Food is free -- it's an outdoor cafe with burgers, BBQ, chips, etc. There's also a coke station as well as fruit, cookies and soft ice cream. And yes -- there are bars as well as waiters walking around on the beach willing to bring drinks to you so you don't even have to get out of your lounge chair! I heard that there's even a 2-for-1 time in the afternoon, but I've missed it so far.
