I believe the only things I take (rather than buy) are things that DCL expects me to use or take.... shampoo, soap, stationary, the cabin steward... oh wait, I had to leave him too.

I don't mean to derail Suzy Mouse's question, but does anyone know when Southwest opens their system to start booking the next block. Their website says that they will start booking througjh 9 Jan on 26 Jun, but we were up at midnight, 0500, 0630, and 0730 but it still only shows bookings through 31 Oct. I'm still hoping for reasonable prices so we can fly.

Good luck on the flights! We have a DCL/WDW booked for Thanksgiving 09 as well, and the price of air is scaring me! We got our flights for this Thanksgiving for $232 a piece and also had one free ticket, so it wasn't too bad. As I look at the prices now, it puts me in sticker shock! I wish you some luck and pixie dust!:wizard:

Good morning! I was just wondering if any of you that are booked directly with DCL have ever received notice about the itinerary change for our cruise. I haven't and it's not a big deal, but if I hadn't been on the DIS, I still wouldn't know. I wonder when they are going to officially let everyone know?:confused3 All I can say is "Thank Goodness for the DIS!":worship:

I have not heard from them either, but thought it was because we moved since making the reservation. Maybe I'll just give them a call and see what they say.:listen: Thanks to my DIS friends for keeping me in the loop. :thumbsup2

Now this brings a question up... ethics aside and no bashing here....Do you bring anything home to remind you of your Disney cruise? Our Cabin Steward (no I didn't take him home) made us a washcloth duck and we took that home with us.

Another question....what makes it feel like you're home on the ship?
When we're sitting outside at the Topsiders' Buffet I know I'm home!

Anyone else??popcorn::

I bring home all the shampoo's and stuff too. But when I want to go back to the cruise, I look through our cruise pictures again. I feel home on the ship the minute they call my name as I walk in.

I took a Golden Mickeys sticker that they afixed to our Miror the night of the show. I kindof figured it was meant to be taken. :worried:

As far as soaps and what not. Call me crazy, but the bathrooms on DCL have a very distinct oroma to them. I happened to stumble across The Yankee Candle scent "Tahitian Tiare Flower". It smelled exactly like the cruise staterooms. If someone else has experienced this, I would like to know.

Well now I'm going to have to pay a visit to Yankee Candle!!

How many of you have the DCL cd that starts with the cruise horn call? Every once in a while I"ll play it to get a little happy. :music: The disc isn't in the greatest shape..think I can get another one????

As time gets closer I love to look at the DCL picture of the day Thread!! Very therapeutic!!!

I saw on another thread that Southwest finally opened up reservations for Nov. Did anybody get a good rate? Just curious. We couldn't wait around for Southwest we booked with US Air.

I just checked what it would be for us and it's $255 each way.:faint: Thank goodness we booked a LONG time ago!!

Last year at our DIS Meet, I organized a grab bag. Everybody that came to the meet brought an item to put in the bag and when they left they got to pick something from the bag. Just a small item, no more than $5. Would anybody be interested in participating this year? I'll be in charge of the grab bag if everybody wants to participate.:cool1:

LOVE IT!!!:thumbsup2

We were waiting for Southwest, and I was shocked at the price increases. :scared1: We ended up biting the bullet and booking with SW but our flight into Orlando doesn't arrive until midnight. :headache: At least the kids won't have to miss school on Friday. We will end up staying at a hotel near the airport and driving to the port in the morning.

These airline prices are just CRAZY! DH purchased the tickets yesterday afternoon and when he told me the price I wondered if he had booked the wrong flights. It was considerably more expensive than when I checked around 1030 that morning. So out of curiosity I just checked SW to see if I could figure out what happened. I guess what happened is that SW was raising rates by the hour... If I were to book the same flights today that DH booked yesterday it would cost me an additional $320!!!

On the positive side.... airline tickets have been purchased, rental car purchased, and hotel room purchased. There is no turning back now. So... when does the cruise have to be paid by????

We bought our airline tickets this week too, so I guess we're really going. Allegiant changed their flight schedule so now we're flying down Thursday evening, and doing MVMCP on the 21st. We fly home on the 29th.

The 90 day mark is Sunday, August 24. Make sure you allow time for the final payment to post. If you're paying by check it's a whole different game, it takes FOREVER especially if you're using AAA.

Count us in for the grab bag. If you'll maintain a list, I'll add it to the website.

We were waiting for Southwest. Our TA called me yesterday and told me that for the 5 of us, it would be $2080, from Washington, DC to Orlando and back.:furious: But we got Amtrak for $780:cool1: We had already booked our room the night before the cruise at the airport at the Hyatt. We are still doing that. Bob will be able to work on Thursday, and we can drive the 1 1/2 hours to DC and catch the 7:30pm train. We'll arrive in Orlando at 1:00 Friday afternoon and get Mears to take us from the Amtrak station to the Hyatt. If we had flown, we would have been getting there around the same time. All that we planned for Friday was to shop in the airport, eat dinner and swim in the pool and watch the planes come in.

17 hours on a train:scared1: vs 2 on a plane:confused3 --at least we can sleep and there is always BENADRYL for the girls, and GOODY DRINKS for Bob and me.:rolleyes1 Wish us luck!!!!

Great!!! I will make the list for the grab bag. Thanks for adding to the website.:thumbsup2

$2080, my god! I have never done the Amtrack thing, but it sounds like a nice way to unwind from the cruise.

I have been reading these threads for a while and finally registered!
We have been booked on this cruise since October. It's our second DC, the first was Nov of 2005 when my husband and I renewed our wedding vows (20 years!) in the Cadillac Lounge while docked in Nassau. Capt. John officiated.
Traveling this time with DS age 15 and family friends.
145 DAYS!!!

We waited as long as we could to book SWest but it seemed like they were never going to post through Nov. I couldn't wait, my nerves were shot and I booked AirTran on 6/9. It's 1090.00 RT from Pittsburgh for the 3 of us. I checked SWest and US Air this morning and AirTran is still cheaper. I feel much better knowing that we are booked.
We're flying down on the 21st and staying at AK Lodge for the night.
Has anyone ever done Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? I wasn't planning on going to any of the parks this trip, just Downtown Disney, but this looks like it might be fun.

We've done it twice, once in 2005 and once last year. We really like it, they usually have two parades and fireworks. It is a ticketed event so you don't have to use park passes, the tickets sell for around $50 per person. They don't tell you when you buy them but you can get into the park starting at 4PM even though the party doesn't start until later. When you enter you get a wristband. After the party starts (either 7 or 8) only those people with wristbands can be in the park. The park stays open until midnight.
