11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Does anyone know if the staterooms have the small safes in them? I remember staying somewhere that had a safe that you could set your own opening code for, but I can't remember where in the world it was at. I'm hoping it was on the cruise.

They are in the closets. Your card opens and closes them- we put our passports and small items in it while we were onboard. Hope this helps.

Careful though with using those cards..keep them away from cellphones and especially those door magnets...we demagnetize key to the world cards at least a couple times every trip...and until you get a new one (easy enough to do) you cannot open those safes.

Thanks Michelle! I went through my box of goodies tonight, and think I have around 95 packets. I'll have to double check my numbers, again, and see where I stand. I know I'm short though.

Shay, did you find some warm clothes? I had to laugh about your lack of long sleeves as I am sitting here in a tank, sweatshirt, jeans, and two pair of socks.

I'd better get to bed. Tomorrow will be a long day of parades, and parties. Enjoy your Halloween, everyone.

Read in Passporters that any magnetized card will open and close them. I am assuming you have to use the same card to open and close it. Yea - we had the same problem with our world cards. DD's(11 at the time) card just stopped working. She thought it was great because her new card was different than the rest of ours!

you are correct that any card will open them, but since the only card you actually need on board is the key to the world card, all the other cards will be IN the safe, along with the cell phones, blackberrys and probably some of the jewelry.

Shell, yes I do still need a little helper. I too am staying at the Hyatt, so no need to drag it on the ship I can do that. We have a soft sided cooler on wheels too. Maybe we can meet up at the Hyatt, before your stop to Disney, or we can meet in the am early, or we can see if they will let you have it sent to my room for my arrival. I think that is around 5:30pm. Of course if you don't have enough room in the car.

OK, I do have a question. Do the kids need some kind of shots? I looked everywhere and can't find anything. I don't have my package and I didn't do online check-in So maybe it says something there. DDs would love not to get shots but something just sticks in my head that they might need them.

Are you staying at the Hyatt in the airport? If you are it may be easiest for me to help you out......I live ten minutes from the airport and I will be home by 11am that day. That way no way else needs to squeeze it into their vacation time.

Our second elf arrived today. We have had Piper for a couple of years but now we have a girl, Tessa, who will be joining the family. The kids have been talking about Piper a lot and dh and I keep downplaying the whole thing. They know I get sick of the elf and all his mischief. He is just one more person to clean up after. They'll be so surprised to see them show up onboard. Any of you clever people come up with any elfcapades for me yet?

Ok, so how does this elf thing work again? Do they see the elf or just pictures of the elf making mischief or just the result of the elf mischief?

I was thinking it'd be funny if the elf got into the kitchen and ate part of their Mickey bar or decorated the Mickey bar like an elf. Other ideas, driving the boat, giving/getting a massage, messing up a Bingo game, going down the pirate slide in the kid's club.

I can not find my long sleeve shirts for the life of me. But I did find that DH put all our jackets in the front closet, which explains why that closet looks like one from the Haunted Mansion. The high is back up in the low 80's today, so my cold weather clothes need was short lived. I think I will be on the hunt for my clothes, or buying new ones, to start packing for the cruise.

I did go to a consignment shop yesterday. I traded in DD2's too small clothes for some cold weather clothes and 2 very cute dresses for the cruise.

I checked my FE list with the one on the website and I am off. I get 31 families and 46 kids off the web site. Am I close. I want to have enough. I might not have the some for everybody but everybody will get something.

Also didn't I read in one of the many pages that someone was a pilot. I know my husband will want to talk airplanes with somebody. We had a great family last year from the DIS that were airplane people. We will miss them this time around.
