11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

After living in Buffalo for most of my life, I don't care if I ever see snow again. However, DS was born in FL and wants to see it very badly. I guess I'll have to cave sooner or later. Where is the farthest south you can see snow on a regular basis in the winter?

Guess what I just got?!??!?!?!?!!! A nice little package delivered from UPS containing my CRUISE DOCUMENTS!!!!! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!!!!!!

Okay, Shay, you just made my crappy day seem better. I don't think mine have been delivered yet, but I just told Brianna that we could look forward to getting them some time this week. Yeah!!!!

Thanks for the heads up! You made my day. It's been crappy here at work and I was in a foul mood. All of my co-workers will thank you for making me happy!!!!!!!! (Not to mention my DH!)

Are they pretty? Same as before? Who cares, eh? They're on their way!!!!!

You will all find this funny. My luggage tags Disney sent are lime green! And they're pretty.

How's Brianna doing?

Thanks for asking! She's okay. She did have to go home from school early today. She is having pain around her ear now, and I don't know if it's just from the wound or what. ?? She is also having terrible stomach pain from being on such a high dose of antibiotic and steroids. The poor thing slept in our room last night and was up about every hour and a half in the bathroom with diarrhea. I'm sure it's from the antibiotic though. We just want to get tomorrow over with!

I am a little more relaxed now. I have my lesson plans completely done for school, so that takes a big weight off of my shoulders! I'll do homework while I'm home with Brianna and I'm hoping for some time to work on finishing up my FE packages, a packing list, etc. Once I finish the homework I'll breathe a lot easier.

The closest you can get is probably in the mountains in Va.

I know this won't help now, but have you heard about taking prebiotic fiber after you're done with antibiotics? I just heard that it helps get your digestive system back to normal faster. Crystal Light makes those little single packets of flavored drink mix with prebiotic fiber. I really like the Live Active raspberry-peach flavor. It tastes like Kool-Aid. You could ask her doctor what he/she thinks about it.

I'm so glad you told me this! Brianna has a very difficult time with pain meds and has even been hospitalized as a result of taking pain meds. They shut her system down, and enemas, the stuff you drink before a colonoscopy, etc. and everything else the doctor's tried wouldn't work. They said she was impacted because the pain meds made her system fall asleep. I will definitely be looking in to the crystal light! Thanks for the advice!

Judy, how was lunch on Sat? Sorry about the "Stillers". We're Giants fans here, so dh and ds were happy with the win. We're expecting snow tomorrow,too. We had a national weather service alert come over the tv a while ago. Not sure what to expect at this point but they are saying anywhere from 1" to 10". I'm not ready for this. I hate the snow.

HerrQsmee, happy birthday to Elizabeth. Yesterday we celebrated our 12th anniversary and I know TwoByFour also had her anniversary yesterday as well. Oct 26 must be a good day!

Guess I'll go sit in the kitchen, and watch for the UPS man.

Well,

I spent the afternoon finishing our door magnets (Thanks again Sandy). I also went thru our cruise file and reorganized it. We have decided to cancel the Glass bottom boat in Castaway and also Xcaret in Cozumel. We are doing Boatswain's on our own and we are now going to do the EcoTour in Cozumel---more bang for our buck, and more sightseeing. I dwindled down the packing list that was posted to what applies to us. Tonight I plan to get the FE gifts packed up and our formal wear and then perhaps do a little scrapbooking. AND of course, I'll have to Dis a couple of times.

I just have to say again-24 days for us.

Happy Anniversary Shell!
Lunch was wonderful on Sat. They even called me senorita instead of senora! They know what to do to get a good tip! I was kind of freaked out when they offered goat as one of the specials. I don't do well with meat and I've always wanted a pygmy goat as a pet and that was kind of upsetting. Linda enjoyed her meal as well. She topped hers off with creme brulee and I had to taste it. Delicious!

I saw that north of us, just below Erie, could get 3 or more inches of snow. Better get my boots out!

I'm thinking us northerners will probably get our papers on Wednesday or Thursday. This is so exciting!

You're welcome. I gave you the wrong information though. I looked up prebiotic and probiotic. I thought they were the same thing, but I was mistaken. It's the probiotic that replaces the good bacteria. I know some yogurts have probiotics, but the drink mix I was talking about does not. Sorry.

And it looks like I get to freeze before the cruise...just found out I have to fly up to Wilkes-Barre on Nov 18/19, fly back for a day and turn around and drive to the port. I end up looking funny walking into the Courthouse if it really cold b/c I am the only one wearing a ski jacket over my suit...I don't own any other winter coats.

Sandy, dudette! Do you have something with Boo from Monster Inc.? She and Sully are my favorite.

DH has figured out our Photoshop. So we'll start making our door signs over the next few weekends. We are so pokey, aren't we.

It won't last but a day, but the predicted low out here in the suburbs, ie 15 miles off the water where it will be warmer, for tomorrow night is 49 degrees...in October, that is very rare....(actually it does not happen much any time of the year.

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes for Brianna. I'll try to post tomorrow to let everyone know how she's doing.

It is absolutely freezing here! The temp is only supposed to be 23 in the morning. I'm not sure I'm ready for cold weather. I guess I'll have to break out the winter coat before we head to the hospital.

I need to try to get creative and make some of my own door signs. Sandy--what do you use for all of your stuff? Pretty much everything I have right now is courtesy of you.

I sure hope my cruise docs come tomorrow. That's when it all really seems real.
