Well, it doesn't take much to talk me into something. We're now officially flying to Orlando on the 20th, staying at Wilderness Lodge for two nights, and going to MVMCP. I want to thank my support group here on the DIS for helping me get through this difficult time and for helping me make the right decision.:lmao:

I already talked to DD and her response when asked if she would be okay with missing two basketball games was "HECK YAAA!"

Susan

Here is what I have confirmed for dinner/character breakfast for those that want to overplan.

8pm Rotation – LAAPLAP – Character Breakfast – Sunday 9:30am
8:15pm Rotation – APPLAPL – Character Breakfast – Thursday 9:45am
All Subject to Change

Of course the 8:30 one is PLLA..by process of elimination :)

Susan you will love the WL it is beautiful. Glad you have figured it all out.

So the character breakfast for the 8:30 rotation is Monday?

No thanks needed, that's what we're here for. :)

Michelle - Thanks for the dining rotation info! Now if I only knew what time we'll be dining! It really doesn't matter. It's all good! If I don't get PC 3 times I'll just go there for lunch every chance I get.

Susan - Somehow I knew it would end up like this. We are a good support group aren't we!:lmao: Your DD is a gal after my heart. That's exactly how I would have responded. Basketball/Disney:confused3 Basketball/Disney It's a no brainer!

I have all of my summer clothes out on the bed. There are piles to go to the homeless programs, piles to go to the suitcase, piles to go into winter storage, piles I'm not sure about. Some clothes fit, some don't, some might fit if I keep losing. My house is too small and I need another closet.

It's raining here now. Our beautiful 70 and 80 degree weather is coming to an end. Going to the 30's overnight and 50's during the day. Get out more sweaters!

One question for everyone - do you guys bring any jeans along? I remember it getting chilly on deck at night. I'm bringing casual capris, is that enough?

Good question Judy!

Just how does one dress for the Carribean in November?

Believe you me---OUR COATS ARE STAYING IN THE VAN IN WASHINGTON,DC.

But seriously for those of you who have done this for Thanksgiving. What is the weather like? What about the water? Is it still warm enough to swim? I want to do the underground river in Xcaret, if it is mild enough.

Lora

Good job SUSAN. Enjoy your extra day.

I usually throw in a pair of jeans or sweats, but don't forget that if you have late dinner, you wont be leaving the dining room until about 10pm anyway and you will have long pants etc on for dinner.

Another advantage to staying at a nearby hotel and taking the hotel bus meant you were in the port well before us. We were there, but they would not let us park and held all the drivers across the street for like 30 additional minutes. So Chuck and Lisa were nice and comfy in their seats before we checked in:lmao:

Michelle-

Unfortunately we are not staying at the Radisson this time. We got a much better rate at the Quality Suites down the street. As a result, we will be in the parking lot across the street waiting w/ ya'all!! :wizard:

Lisa

The thing to remember is that the Caribbean is tropical so it is still warm in November. A windbreaker or light jacket can be useful if on deck in the evenings since after all the boat is moving, but we have been on this trip the last 4 years and rarely have I worn anything other than shorts save for dinner.

We have sailed every Thanksgiving since 2004. The weather, for the most part, has been very good. There have been a few rain showers and some storms near GC. For the ship, I recommend bringing a sweatshirt or windbreaker. It is chilly on board. The water at CC is a little chilly, but the air temperature has been great. We did Xcaret last year. It was a very interesting park. However, the underwater cavern was freezing!! Also, it poured while we were there. Another problem is getting to and from Xcaret on the water ferry---it requires a strong stomach!!! :scared1:

Speaking of dinner...

What do they serve for Thanksgiving dinner? This is also lobster night, correct?

Correct-Thanksgiving is lobster night. A member of our Disgroup in 2004 and 2005 posted a great picture of his Thanksgiving plate-lobster and prime rib!! :thumbsup2 For those of you who want a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, they also serve turkey and all the trimmings. There is a special menu that you are allowed to keep. Additionally, great photo opps w/ pilgrim Mickey and Minnie!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

My wife and I agree that the boat to Xcaret was rough...but the river is cold year round and you get used to it once you are in the water.

As to Thanksgiving, people very often get Lobster and Turkey to eat. I don't know if the pictures from 2005 are still floating around here somewhere, but if they are (the 2005 Turkey Day Gang thread) you will see what I mean.

Will Pirate Night still be Wednesday?

Ok, answered my own question. It's Tuesday night per DCL rep.

We are now in Grand Cayman for a day instead of the late morning ashore time they were previously showing. :thumbsup2 Is it the rainy season @ GC during November? :scratchin That might keep me onboard, too. I just wanted my SIL to see the place since she's never been. We don't want to do any tours, but we were considering taking a cab to the Turtle Farm.

They changed our time for GC? If so, I need to adjust my time for our excursion. I'm off to the DCL site to check this out.

For kicks I checked the cruise port schedule and it was showing 6:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. That would mean 7:30 to 4:30 for us. I called DCL and the rep confirmed it. :thumbsup2

Yeah....and what time is happy hour?

Please share with us, I dont want to miss happy hour at Margaritaville!!

Fine minds think alike!!! Are we still on for cheeseburgers in Paradise?
If it's an early ashore, we have more time at Margaritaville. PARTY!!:drinking1 :dancer: party: :dance3: :dancer:

Sandy - I made my t-shirts today. I used the dark t-shirt paper as per your recommendation, on white shirts. They turned out great. Except for mine. I forgot to remove the backing paper! I ran out of transfer paper and printer ink, so mine is on hold until I can get to Staples and WalMart.

That's weird. I just called DCL and they said 9:30 all ashore. How do we know for sure?
