11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

I have a supplier for lime green bracelets but we are waiting on one more vendor to see if they have a better price than $1 that the current vendor offers. We have youth size which is 7 inches and adult size 8 inches. I will let you know when I know which vendor we are using and how to get them. I am posting from my phone so I hope this makes sense. Just had to say that I like Judy's countdown clock better than mine.

I am, however, 2 weeks out at 5:00 p.m. today until we attend the F&W festival. I gotta have something to tide me over until this cruise.

I could not get anyone in my group to commit to jet skiing so it looks like I'm out. I'm not too overly worried because there will be a next time.


I still have no stateroom assignment. I hope that means a Cat 3 is in my future.

Okay--I just had to try it! You're right-25! The blonde in my hair was really showing though because I was just adding them and adding them thinking you guys were crazy! I was up to over a hundred when I decided to go ahead and stop and submit my reply when I noticed that it doesn't actually reject it until you actually post. I could have sat here and added smilies all day long!

Dinner wouldn't have been the same without the VanWeelden family, so I'm sure glad your doctor signed that note!

This day is just getting better and better!!! Here is an e-mail I just got from the cross country coach:

Fantastic News on Gerrit!!!


I can't pronounce or spell what (Gerrit's dad) told me today, but the doctor they spoke with today said that there is a 98% success rate that radiation will eliminate the tumor in Gerrit's brain. This is extremely positive news. He will have to undergo daily radiation treatments for 6 weeks, but the doctor they spoke with is an expert in this particular tumor said he has never lost a patient to it, and though it won't be exactly easy, Gerrit will recover from this.

Thank you for all the prayers!!!! This is just awesome!!!!! I really wish someone else was home right now and the baby wasn't sleeping, I feel like dancing and yelling, instead I'll add more fruit.

I'm sure everything will be fine, but if it makes you feel better, I'll be your own personal perinatal/OB/mother-baby nurse. I have no problem making sure you get all the exercise and sunshine along with all the fruits and vegies you can eat.

When will we find out what this little one is?

Judy--When you crushed the Vicodin you didn't snort it did you? I'm beginning to wonder if I need to come to the Burgh to check on you. You're becoming more confused the closer it gets to the cruise. (I hope that you know I am just joking with you).

Yes! DVC is adding the Contemporary and The Treehouse Villas. There's a link on the front page of the Disboards. The villas will be 3 bedrooms that sleep 9.

Lora--I'm scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday. We want to know what "it" is too but I'm not sure if they'll be able to tell or not. I'm somewhere between 13 and 15 weeks today, so 14 and 16 next week.

Judy--I'll have to check out the treehouses. I've heard about them and seen old pictures. I'm with you on the DVC, as long as I keep having babies, then grandbabies, it will be WDW vacations for us.

That's prime "viewing" time. If we are in the correct position that is. Although as you know, there is no guarentee but it's worth a try. And just think, it's the baby's first cruise.

Tim told me some of the teachers at his school asked him today where he was sailing to. His response - "I can't remember." Can you believe it? I could be in a coma and still tell you!!!

Stacie, so glad that all is working out great for you and getting your letter. As long as your new addition isn't shy you should know what your your having. I have had 6 kiddos and the first one was the only one I didn't know what I was having. My oldest found out it's a boy at 12 weeks. Very early but he wasn't shy at all.
Also wonderful news about Gerrit.

Ken, thanks for posting that. I at first thought wow you've been hanging out with us girls way too long as the commercial was of the DQ waffle sundae.

I have a non-DCL question for you. For the teachers in the group--Do you allow your students to have water bottles in class? If not, Why?

For parents in the group--does you school let your kids have water bottles in class?

My reason for asking--With Mackenzies 4 kidney stones within a year (her 1st one was at 6), and all after she started Kindergarten. We have a physicians order for her to have a water bottle at her desk. She knows that she is not allowed to use it as a distraction. Her teacher last year had no problem with it. However this year, the principal saw it and told them that they couldn't have it. Therefore her teacher won't allow her to have it either.

I'm getting ready to call the school and talk to the principal about it, but I wanted to know what other systems do.

In elementary school, our PTO donated water bottles for the kids. Some of the teachers did get tired of them and didn't allow them anymore, but for the most part they did. Susan - help with this one! I would say though, that under the circumstances, your daughter should be allowed to have one and I would talk to the principal. Good Luck! Looking forward to meeting you soon!

I will ask my DH about his policy. I would think if it's a doctor's order they would have to allow it. If not the bottle at her desk, at least ensure she is able to get a drink when she needs to or is on a schedule to ensure she does drink. Does the order state she must drink a certain amount? If that's the case wouldn't the school RN have to ensure that it is measured and she gets what she needs? Don't let them do what they want just because they feel it's an "inconvenience" for them. We ran up against issues like that with our daughter and you have to be firm and let them know what you expect them to do!!
