11/13 Disneyland podcast-more DL Hotel history, plus new Hyatt Place & SpringHill

Sounds like we picked the right hotel...we're staying at the Springhill in January! Given it's a new hotel, I was nervous about staying here...the walk seems easy enough and a brand new hotel with free hot breakfast and a rooftop pool...yahoo!!!:cool1:

Thank you so much for your reviews. I really appreciate hearing opinions and the pros and cons. I actually had a reservation at the new Hyatt Place but then switched it over to the new Marriott Springhill Suites Convention Center a few weeks ago. Their rates were nearly identical at the time. My rate isn't nearly as good as yours was, but we're going over a holiday weekend. Just as a sidenote, there is another Springhill Suites near Disneyland over on Ball Rd that is also relatively new, I can see people easily confusing the 2.

The information abut the Springhill Suites walk-in shower is good to know. My kids are a little older now, but when we had toddlers, we gave them baths, so this hotel may not have worked that well for us as a family with very young children.

Do you know if any of the rooms on upper floors have theme park views?

I'm getting excited for our stay! I hope we will have time to take advantage of the rooftop pool. I have been waiting a long time for a hotel (not motel with exterior doors) that accomodates larger families, yet is within walking Distance to Disneyland. I just hope they keep rates reasonable.

I was so surprised by your Hyatt review, Tom! We've stayed at other Hyatt Place properties and love that modern/urban feel - reminds us of much pricier places like the W brand. Different strokes! We'll still keep it on our list of options for the future though.

I love these hotel reviews. One of my favorite reasons for listening these days, as we've only been to DL twice and don't have a favorite place to stay yet!

Thank you of your review! These were my top 2 hotel choices for my family's September 2015 trip. I had pretty much already decided on the new Springhill Suites, but your review solidified my choice. It really does seem to be the perfect combination of proximity, value, size, and quality for our family. I booked it last night! So excited!!! Just 10 months to go.....:hourglass!

FYI... Tom mentioned the Hyatt House going up on the corner opposite Springhill Suites... that brand is very similar to Hyatt Place but is more like a Residence Inn with some full kitchens for long-term stays, leases etc.
