10th Floor Fantasy - How bad is the noise?

We were a GTY that just changed to a room assignment mid-ship deck 10. We are sensitive to noise and are very nervous about having a room on deck 10. If we have a noise machine, do you anticipate problems with noise? Please tell it to me straight and tell me how bad it actually is! I'm not going to lie...I've considered canceling b/c of it.

We were on deck 10 on the Dream in July, in an aft room under Cabanas. I thought the noise was minimal except for the night when there was a private wedding celebration going on above us until at least 2:00 in the morning. I'm not a light sleeper so mine may not be the best opinion, but I slept fine every night except the wedding party night.

We had Cat 5E GTY and were assigned cabin 10150 on the Dream in October 2014. Aft Verandah - Port side. I agree with ScrapHappy that the noise was minimal.

You can experience noise in any stateroom, regardless of what is above, below or to the side. While having other staterooms above will usually be quieter than a "public" deck, there's no guarantee you won't have someone noisy in the cabin above (or next to) your cabin. Bring a white noise machine (or use a cell phone app) to mask external noise.

What stateroom # did you get. Mid-ship deck 10 will likely hear noise in the morning as they set out deck chairs and again in the evening as they stack them up. The noise won't be terrible unless you are really sensitive to noises.

Just to echo - while the theory is "staterooms above and below are quieter than below the pool deck", it isn't always true.

We did a B2B on the Fantasy - 1st leg on deck 10 underneath the starboard entrance to Cabanas, and the second leg on deck 9 port side midship, rooms above and below us.

The room on deck 9 was without a doubt the noisier of the two. On deck 10 the only "noise" we were subjected to was the after party following the fireworks on pirate night. Yes, we could hear, on occasion, running feet overhead, but it really was minimal.

Our deck 9 room - well, let's just say that the 2 connecting rooms on one side had kids who loved jumping off the bunk bed (while screaming). At least that's what it sounded like. And the 3 connecting rooms on the other side had kids (at least figured they were kids) who enjoyed running laps through the connecting doors/verandahs. Add to that the people who had rooms above us felt that running relay races every time they returned to their rooms, it was quite noisy.

I would expect below the pool deck to be quieter - isn't the deck there a little thicker then the floors between say 9 and 10?

I may be making that up. I am not a Cruise Ship Engineer.

We're in a room under the pool deck. Room reviews from rooms near ours from the Dream and Fantasy say that the staff moved deck chairs around 3:30-4:30 a.m. Normally we try to get a stateroom at the end of the hall where there is minimal foot traffic and tends to be fairly quiet. And thanks everyone for sharing your opinions.

As was said--any room can be noisy, depending.

We always seem to be under a room where the kids above seem to be having a gymnastics competition each night.

And a white noise machine won't do a thing to deaden that--
